About the Rise and Rule mod

The Rise and Rule mod (RAR) is based on our experiences with the Double Your Pleasure mod for Civilization III and the expansion pack Play The World.Rise and Rule is only released for the latest (and last) Civ3 expansion pack Conquests. The simple design philosophy behind the mod is that variety is the spice of life and an essential part of strategy. If there's only one path to success, there really isn't much strategy involved.
We've tried to beef up the selection of improvements, wonders, units etc., hoping to give you more to choose between. Don't think you'll be able to build everything everywhere. We have tried hard to make that option the certain road to failure. A wise ruler will weigh cost vs. benefit in every single decision made.
    The nitty-gritty cold facts
    • 200 techs
    • 13 governments
    • 100 Improvements
    • 67 Great Wonders
    • 36 Small Wonders
    • 14 Specialist Citizen types
    • 52 Resources
    • 340 Units (including flavor units)
    • lots of changes and improvements over the Double Your Pleasure mod.
    Installation

To avoid potential problems, you should follow this procedure when installing the Rise and Rule mod.
    1. Make sure you have Conquests version 1.22 installed. Check the version number in the left-hand corner of the main game menu.
    2. Install the Rise and Rule mod.
Make sure the mod is installed to the directory where you installed Civilization III: Conquests. The installation program defaults to C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios.If you didn't install Civilization III to the default directory, you'll need to manually change the path in the installation program, making sure that the mod ends up in the Scenarios folder located under the Conquests folder.
For additional download mirrors or smaller updates, visit the download page on DyP's website.

Important: To be able to play RaR, you need the unit animation folders "World War II" and "Medieval Japan". These folders were part of the PtW addon, but are not included in C3C. However, the files are available to download individually here.
Or alternatively, just get the 'Extras Patch' containing only the units used in the RAR mod.

    .. and enjoy. :)

I've only got C3C, but looking in the PTW folder, extras, they're both there, along with 3 others

I notice that the PTW 'Extras' patches can't be downloaded anymore. Just a glitch? Is there another place to get them?
