Description: Developed by Rothana Heavy Engineering, the "Self Propelled Heavy Artillery - Turbolaser" (SPHA-T) was introduced at the onset of the Clone Wars as a heavy artillery vehicle to compliment the walkers of the Republic Army. In the Battle of Geonosis, SPHA-Ts were used to take down the Trade Federation core ships that attempted to escape the planet.
The 12 tiny legs of the SPHA-T allows the vehicle to reposition itself and provides great stabilty when firing. The vehicle's main cannon is modular, allowing different artillery pieces to be fitted with different weapon types such as turbolaser cannons, ion cannons, and concussion missile launchers. The most powerful and effective of these designs are the turbolaser cannons which use prolonged blast streams that require large amounts of power and a large on-board reactor core to operate.
After the Battle of Geonosis, the SPHA-T was never put into wide use as it could only be used for select targets and its slow speed often left it vulnerable on the battlefield. The SPHA-T's large size also took up lots of space which kept it off many starships.
