In 632 AD, the Prophet Muhammad died, after spreading his teachings of the One True God in the Arabian peninsula. In the next two years, his successor Caliph Abu Bakr subjugated those tribes that didn't accept Islam. In 634 AD, the second Caliph, Umar ibn al-Khattab, became the leader of the faithful. It was he who initiated the spreading of Islam outside Arabia, eventually to cover the civilized world from the Atlantic to India. The fierce Arab warriors, ready to die for their faith, took large territories from one empire, and conquered another one completely. Can you match his feat, or stop his advance?
The original scenario can be found on the Scenario League Website here.
Modifications:
The scenario has been made compatible to run on Test of Time and TheNamelessOne’s ToTPP (which includes the following features NoStackKills, CityPopulationLossAttack, CityPopulationLossCapture).
The unit, terrain and many of the icons graphics have been updated. In addition, the scenario has been modified so that the main factions now possess their own specific set of phalanx, legion and knight type units (this is strictly a cosmetic change and has no incidence on game play whatsoever).
To reflect the scenario's ReadMe the Arabs 5 on map settlers have been replaced with Serfs. If lost they cannot be rebuilt. These serfs cannot build new cities when playing as a human though they can still improve tiles and build roads.
Otherwise, the scenario plays and remains exactly the same as the original.
Recommended House Rule:
Though the scenario's ReadMe prohibits the Arabs from building new settlers, whenever they capture an enemy city the game mechanics usually defaults that city's production box to the building of a settler unit.
As such, when playing as the Arabs you should immediately switch the production queue of a newly captured city to any other item in the list if it defaulted to settlers.
Optional Events file:
Though the game allows you to play as any power it was really designed for the Arabs in mind (they are the main protagonists who need to conquer 140 of the map’s 180 objective points).
I found achieving a decisive victory as the Arabs in the base game perhaps a little too easy. For those players wanting a somewhat more challenging experience you should run the Arabs.bat file before loading the scenario and select option 2 "Load the advanced scenario events file". It has the following effect:
Requirements:
Civilization 2: Test of Time 1.1
ToTPP v0.184 (or higher) which can be found here.
Installation:
Extract the archive into your main Test of Time folder
Run the Arab.bat file select option 2 "Load the advanced scenario events file" before launching the scenario only if you want to have greater challenge when playing as the Arabs.

- It adds the powerful defensive "Theodosian Walls" unit in Constantinople.
- It randomly places one moderately strong defensive "City Walls" unit in a number of enemy cities across the map.
