TKS was an improved version of the TK-3 tank. It was constructed in the PZInż Study Office. by the team under the guidance of Ing. Edward Habich . The main change was the modernization of the shape of the front part of the fuselage, the replacement of the engine and the addition of a periscope to the commander, change of armour, electrical installation, improvement of the chassis. Mass production started in 1934. A total of 280 copies were produced. Because the armament of the TKS tank was considered insufficient, at the beginning of 1939 (after previous attempts in autumn 1938) it was decided to rearm 250 tanks ( TK-3 and TKS in total) in nkm wz. 38FK calibre 20 mm, Polish construction. Until December 1939, 50 tanks TK-3 and 60 TKS were rearmed.
