4th ring most likely will be 3rd 2nd ring of your another city.. with every new city it will mess you wall..
The same way workers couldn't improve adjacent tiles and now they can build tunnels, i think it will be super easy to make it possible for edges....

It's not about good/bad game, but map might have big impact on how you see/feel civ you played. This can influence how you will rank them.. same...

- give scaling bonuses to each trade routes, longer routs should give more benefit that shorter (what they're trading)
To make it considered as tall vs wide it has to meet certain criteria:
* impactful - give direct yield bonus, increase no. of trade routs,...
