you don't have to research some techs to go to the next age

if you are building a wonder you won't get the shields
that is probably because you have the "Preserve Random Seed" flag on for the game
10 gets you the fat X, not 5 and i don't think the "reveal map" flag is available in vanilla
why is civ 3 vanilla called vanilla?
resize it to 1/4 of its size and save it as SerbiaSMALL.pcx. it should work out
if you have it you should be able to play the game

I need some future naval units because there are a lot of laser-wielding ground units but I can't find any good ships.
They will work because Civ III Complete is just Civ III Vanilla, PTW and C3C in one collection. Disc 1 is C3C
i don't know much about flavor myself, but it has something to do with the way the AI chooses what to do i.e: tech A has the flavor a civ likes so...
barbarians have to be in the game or it will crash :(

unless you play regicide and nuke their capital a couple times :evil:
the cities lose a citizen (i think just 1) when it gets captured. so if the city hs a pop of 1, there is no one left so the city gets razed
there is an import tool that you can use. I believe it is in the 'File' menu. You can import maps, rules and flavors
