A very weird occurrence. Created a new game, selected Australia, and selected Standard size. All other options as is.
While playing the game, the map looked surprisingly... empty.
And as the game progressed I realized that the actual map generated was Small, (or smaller) and the options selected weren't validated.
There is only 1 city state that I've seen so far on 75% of the map and only 3 AIs.
I've played other games on standard size and never had any issue.
Apologies if this has been posted before, but I didn't find anything when searching (though keywords were too common to provide any meaningful search results.
Am attaching a screenshot showing the size of the map that was selected, as well as another screenshot showing the players and mini map.
Didn't save a game before 1120 AD so not sure if providing a save game file is useful - but provided here in any case
