Hey, I just realized that the new ethic work bonus doesnt apply to a Lavra which gets repaired.

Here is what happend:
I played as Peter from Russia and build alot of my gameplan around the new ethic work thing. I picked Dance of the Aurora to get as many adjecency bonuses as I can get for my lavras. It worked fine at first I got alot of Lavras with 14-20 faith and production per turn.
In the midgame I got pillaged by some blizzards (apokalypse mode ^^) and after I repaired my nice Lavras the bonus from ethic work was not working any longer.

I was a little surprised when I noticed this. I checked if my citys is still following my religion (I lost a ton of people from the blizzards). They did. I reloaded the game, reloaded it with all mods deactivated (I use Better Balanced Starts, Better Report Screens and Sukritact's Simple UI Adjustments) nothing changed.

Has anyone experienced something like this?

I added some screenshots with my religion+the citys following it, the production tooltip in St. Petersburg where the bug happend (as an example, it's the same for at least 4 more cities), the mouseover tooltip from St. Petersburg's Lavra and the mouseover tooltip from Rostov's Lavra (which didn't get pillaged and where the bonus still works) as well as a save before the bug happend and one after it happend.

Somebody on reddit reported that some belief stopped working after pillage / repair situation. Could be the same thing or part of a bigger issue i.e. pillage / repair may detach all modifiers and break other effects too.

I just notices the exact same issue as well. After a volcano pillaged two Lavras and I repaired them, they were not providing the production bonus from work ethic anymore.

Normal Holy sites break, too. PS4, Australia. Dust storm pillaged 3 of my holy sites, all of which lost their production. Really annoying, un-fun, game-breaking almost in this case, as my cities relied heavily on the holy site + double adjacency bonus card.

Granted, the ability is ridiculously strong on civs that get extra adjacencies...

Yup I got this too.

I got it after one Lavra was pillaged by a snowstorm and the other (one with natural x10 adjacency doubled to x20 lol) was pillaged by a barbarian. I don't think I'll be going back to that save...

Hopefully we will get a fix for this now when alot of people are recognizing this bug because of the new Ethic Works.
I mean the game is won for me no matter what, but missing out on 100+ production every turn hurts. And even in St. Petersburg with 135 production missing the 20 from EW means 15% less.

Don’t get your hopes up, so you won’t be disappointed.
Great Works stealing bug was reported 2 days after the DLC was released, and confirmed by Firaxis. It really hampers Culture game, and is non-conditional. And yet, in a patch dedicated to balance and fixes, it was not fixed.
A Netherlands bug, literally a simple change in 1 line of xml, confirmed by Firaxis, still exists after a YEAR.
Work Ethics is a conditional bug. You may play a lot of games and not get it at all. People noticed it just because it seems that WE change is apparently the only thing worth noting from the last patch and everybody is playing WE now and posting “WE yield porn” stuff. Kind of sad, actually.

And, much like the worker lag bug, this issue of detaching modifiers was exposed by the modding community a long time ago. But, since that issue wasn't something that a majority of players noticed, it wasn't fixed (properly) and was barely acknowledged.

I fully expect this to be handled the same way (seeing as it's been almost four years), so I wouldn't be surprised if it's never addressed. Also, consider something like the recent change to the Dar-e Mehr (basically adding a single row to the Buildings_XP2 table) took them over a year to implement after many complaints, and you'll realize that some of these problems are of extremely low priority for FXS.

But, who knows, maybe we'll all be pleasantly surprised by one of these updates.

I don't want to be too negative, but it makes me wonder how well playtested this patch was. It feels like that's something that you should catch quickly - I got it in literally my first playthrough...

This was fixed at some point after Gathering Storm. Sad to see it reintroduced...
Was it? I was still having issues with modifiers detaching through last year's June update. It may very well have been fixed with the Sept. update though, as I wasn't doing any modding or playing from then until the NFP update in May.

*Edit* Yep, from the Sept. patch notes:
Fixed a bug where pillaged districts would not regain applied bonuses upon repair.

The work ethic belief fails to work if the religious district is pillaged then repaired. Yes, the city is still the same religion. Patch 1.0.2.39(505793)

For the moment, you can bring the effect back if you let the city be converted to another religion, and then back to yours.
In this example, I bought an apostle in a city that I conquered following another religion (for testing purposes only, of course). Used it to flip the majority religion to the foreign one. Then used another apostle from my religion and flipped it again, restoring the effect.

T230, effect not present after repair:

T235 flipped city

T238 city reverted to my religion, and effect restored

Hmm, that could then point to some wonkiness going on within the SubjectRequirementSetId "CITY_FOLLOWS_RELIGION_REQUIREMENTS" that's causing the detaching of the modifier.
I have no clue as for coding, but I was thinking something along those lines. I wonder if this means the city stops exerting religious pressure after the district is pillaged.
