The freezing is certainly MUCH better after this last patch release -- although I believe there were probably three different freeze issues, and this one was not resolved -- i've seen this particular bug crash the game
writing across the screen a single red character/sprite repeatedly.

This occurs on a beefy macbook pro with the integrated AMD Radeon Pro 5500M as well as the discrete
Intel UHD Graphics 630

I've reported this issue with Aspyr where they acknowledged that "We are still investigating the reports of Civ crashing on devices with the Big Sur version of macOS."
I also use a MBP 16, i9 with an 5500M GPU. (the cheaper 4GB version)
Perhaps it's related to this graphics card? You would assume more users would have this problem if it would occur on any Mac?
