a little to much fantasy for me

Can't stand Emmerich movies. Puts effects over good story.

Extrapolating backwards from most of my civ games, starting at 4,000, at 10,000 B.C. an empire should have................. maybe a few dozen people looking for food?

Not at all. It's obvious, looking from the trailer, that some folks had a very prosperous civ starting up (though it was only 1 city it seems, just the starting capitol). However, they had adopted a monotheistic religion and were hard at work on the Pyramids... almost completed it in fact.

Problem was, they didn't have any fogbusters out, and since they weren't expanding, there was a HUGE area for barb spawning. As we see in the trailer, tons of barb units moved in, led by a "hero". They promptly attacked and killed the garrison units, razing the city and wiping out the production of the Pyramids.

The sequel of course will be "4,000 B.C." (10,000 B.C. part II).

There will be some ruins sitting there (changing the previous floodplains to a desert tile). But, a new settler unit will spontaneously appear, along with a warrior, who will start a new capitol for an entirely new civ.
