I haven't played Civ IV Warlords in awhile, and when I opened it, it was slow and sluggish. In addition there were artifacts all over the map. The only thing I can think is that I just updated to 10.5.6. Anyone else having issues?

It runs OK here in 10.5.6, on a GeForce 8800 GT. I don't play much Civ4 of any flavour. I mainly launch it these days to create new Mac start files for the Games of the Month.

Are you running the latest patch (version 2.13)? Blue Marble or original graphics? What's your hardware?

G5 dual 2.0.

Radeon X800 Xt

running blue marble.

2.13 latest build.

Thanks for being here.

Have you tried removing Blue Marble? Just move the CustomAssets folder from ~/Documents/Warlords/ to the desktop. You can then put it back if it makes no difference. (Is Blue Marble the latest version, BTW?)

Did a permissions repair... restart... changed the resolution... and something fixed the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. Doesn't help me play better though. I'm out of practice.

I'm seeing some improvement with 10.5.6. A bit snappier and no random crashes (so far) on an original Intel Mac Pro with the X1900 XT. BTW, if you have a similar setup - don't forget to clean the air intake on the graphics card. I was getting excessive fan noise until I did that.

The graphics glitches came back. I don't know what's up.

:(

What kind of graphics glitches? When my X1900 XT was going down, I had artifacts that looked like a point of the surface was being drawn out to infinity. Have you dusted your computer lately (particularly your graphics card air intake)? It coud be an overheating problem. My graphics problem showed up in Civ first. A lot of the early X1900s had overheating problems and Apple replaced mine under warranty.
