Did this thread make you more or less likely to support a communist?

I pay something like 6-7% of my income to UK charities and yet I still pay my taxes and ask for higher taxes on the rich. This "liberal" at least is a lot more consistent than you, GW.

I don't know. Just planting seeds, here. :dunno:
Okay :)

I do my best to be a decent person, even though I know that I don't succeed all of the time. But I can do this without trying to topple the system.

How about "propertarians" and "libertarians?"
Don't try to take away his pet label from him. He seems so happy with it.

You've certainly never lived in America:lol:

I get what you're saying but its a completely different political view than what libertarianism is in America. Pro-property libertarians and anti-property libertarians really need a different name:p
It has nothing to do with where I live. "Libertarian" is, for a political label, fairly unambiguous: it describes a political philosophy which lends political primacy to liberty. The only debate lies in what constitutes "liberty", and it is not reasonably possible to argue that a Taylorist wage-system can be describe as anything other than intensely anti-libertarian.

It is possible to be a pro-market liberal, and even conceivably a pro-property libertarian. It is not possible to be a pro-capitalist libertarian.

The GOP's party color is red. You know who else had red as their party color?

Communists have proletarian blood red as their party color. Republicans use people's neck red. Totally different colors.

I've always wondered what the news media would do with their color schemes if a socialist party started win EVs in the US. Would they start using yellow, green, or purple, or would they switch the Republicans to a more appropriate color and give the socialists red?

Pastels... that's what I'd like to see... easier on the eyes.

Germany had that happen when the democratic socialist PDS/Linke became relevant in the 90s and red was already occupied by the Social Democrats. The result was that they lost out and got stuck with a pinkish red in most infographics, even though their "color handle" in written media (which is often used as a shorthand for the party, especially when describing coalition combinations) is still "(dark) red". For example, a hypothetical coalition of SPD, Die Linke and the Greens is referred to as red-red-green.

Oh I don't know. How about these two for a start?
1. Men are born and remain free and equal in rights. Social distinctions may be founded only upon the general good.

2. The aim of all political association is the preservation of the natural and imprescriptible rights of man. These rights are liberty, property, security, and resistance to oppression.

Can you expand on that last paragraph. How are you distinguishing between "Pro market", "Pro property" and "Pro capitalist."

Eh, McCullough is too afraid of having an opinion to say anything really substantial.

Well, it is nice to read a "conservative" opinion that is not froth-at-the-mouth ridiculous every now and then, but they are hard to find. Farm Boy and Cutlass were my main sources, this makes a decent third one.

I don't see why you think any color other than red could be more appropriate for the Republicans....:crazyeye:

There you have it! The internal contradictions of the bourgeois media betray their anti-socialist agenda! :gripe:

Uh oh, Lone Wolf may get pissed... I promise not to copy the style again, just couldn't resist! :hide:

Yeah, that is the color of the blood from hundreds of thousands of people that their policies have shed in Iraq. The problem is, most of the Democrats voted for it as well? Thus they should also logically appear red on the map. Since America is basically a one-party state anyway, I don't see any issue here.
