Germany:
Offers:World Map, 1gpt, 30 gold
For: Chemistry

We need a trade connection with Germany

India:
Nothing

Russia:
The Russians refused to acknowledge us.

Babylon:
OffersEconomics, World Map
For Metallurgy

Persia:
OffersEconomics, World Map, 98gpt*, and 140g
For Metallurgy
Offers World Map, 13gpt, and 140g
For Dyes

* The orginal deal Persia offerd was 75gpt, but they are willing to pay up to 98gpt.

Aztecs
Offers Gems
For Dyes, Wines, 1gpt

Zululand
Nothing

Greece
Nothing

Egypt
Offers Economics, World Map, 36gpt, and 50g
For Metallurgy
Offers World Map, 8gpt, 50g
For Saltpeter

England
Nothing

My Proposal:

(1)Persia: Economics, World Map, 98gpt, and 140g for Metallurgy
(2)Egypt: Whatever Egypt is willing to give us (I guess some gpt) for Metallurgy
(3)Aztecs: Gems for Wines, Dyes, and 1gpt
(4)Persia: See what they offer for Dyes, take if it has any gpt.

My only concern is that Persia will trade Metallurgy to Babylon (They'll head straight for cavs). But, within 10 turns, we should be eating up on Babylon pretty decently...

First of all..I think the date is wrong in the title...

My proposals are

1. Persia Deal
2. Egypt Deal
3. Aztecs becuase they have Gems whice are very useful for us.

I believe the date is wrong, I closed the program out, and forgot the exact date, so I guessed ;).

We should bleed Persia for all the money they have to cripple their research. Thus I propose the following trades:

1. Sell Persia metallurgy for 141g, 140gpt, wm. And I would also give them dyes in order to make it more likely that they keep the deal.

2. Get economics and as much money as possible from Egypt for metallurgy.

3. Give Aztecs education and dyes for gems and what else they have.

One aspect to consider - if we don't trade it, will Persia demand Metallurgy? If they do and we refuse it that will most likely lead to war. Are we prepared for that, both in War terms and losing our luxury trades from that continent.

Another aspect is that our trades with Persia, Zulu and England for our luxuries expire in 8 turns. This could well be within the next turn chat.

We can't guarantee that, thus: no deals yet.
Of course there is no guarantee. IMHO the issue at stake is different:

Metallurgy is a "worthless" tech, only valuable as a stepping stone to military tradition.

If we sell metallurgy to the fast researching civs for all their gpt, their capability to research is significantly crippled for 20 turns. Thus we will pull even further ahead and research (especially in our Golden Age) 5 techs while they research only 1 or 2.

This gives us a great kick-start in the industrial age, again enhanced by railroads, factories, and rep parts workers. Unstoppable.

And therefore we should make the deals I proposed. :goodjob:

I like the first two. Why do you want to trade Education to the Aztecs?

It's a rather ourdated tech. The Aztecs will never be a sciene leader. Thus we give them "nothing". And we keep a luxury which we might e.g. use to bait somebody in an alliance if really needed.

I'd prefer to trade the luxery, instead of Education. Then we don't have to trade them another tech in 20 turns for the luxery again.

Since we are so far ahead, it doesn't matter much. But in 20 turns, we have another 5 techs. I can't see any harm in trading old ones away.

tao, I figured that was your reasoning. The Aztecs seem to be a laggard. In my games, I would probably help the Aztecs to remain semi-competitive to help counter their big neighbors.

Any time we can get a lux in exchange for obsolete tech, definitely go for it. Even better if some GPT can be had as well.

The two GPT deals for metallurgy are both good as well, because the treasury which gets built up will be useful when our GA ends, to keep the same tech rate, or for upgrades. I used to try to deny AI's stepping stone techs to keep them from advancing, but it seems better in many cases to take the money and run.

I wouldn't help the Aztecs, unless it is a good, GOOD deal. We will be or might be attacking them. If we do we will have more powerful military soldiers....

Down side is that the other civs MIGHT help the Aztecs and they would get all the good stuff...

We will just have to wait and see.....
