150+ killed trying to loot overturned fuel tanker in Pakistan

no, I did not "lay" a guilt trip on anyone, just pointed out an existing one

With reasoning like that, could it not also be said that those who fit into your targeted statement are also just "pointing it out"? :)

I do what I can when I can, but I am not the one that is guilt trippin on social justice
You guilt-tripped everyone in the thread.

This is a painfully common occurrence in Nigeria, as well. I recall. seeing similar stories from there on more than one occasion.
What - people try to take fuel from overturned trucks, some idiot lights a cigarette, everything goes BOOM! and then we're expected to have sympathy for them?

Sorry, no. If the truck had overturned and the fuel caught fire and nobody was doing stupid things like running toward it instead of away, then they would earn my sympathy.

This? As mentioned, I feel sorry for the kids who died. They didn't ask to be born to moronic parents.

It was the wrong thread, but there is a lot to be said about how liberals don't really put their money where their mouths are. Lots of cohorts are like that. I am regularly shocked at liberal hypocrisy, libertarian hypocrisy, christian hypocrisy, etc.

But it's not liberals who are trying to take affordable health care away from 20-30 million Americans so that billionaires can get a massive tax break.

Nah, my POS laptop is on its last legs and wouldn't pull in much money.

What I've done instead is to provide much of the pipe to expand my barangy's [political subunit of a town] fresh waster system. A few years ago, when Typhoon Queenie destroyed all the fishing boats of our barangy, I paid to replace 1/3 of them. And my WiFi is not password protected, and so a lot of people use it. :p

I wonder what bernie14 has done.
Why am I not surprised at all. :)

Right-Libertarian makes a comment on poverty and makes an ass out of himself. No one is surprised. Everyone will rather take SJWs' comments any day.

Yep, too bad people with a "real" sense of social justice don't sell their luxury items, for example the computers they use to play games and make insignificant comments on gaming sites, to help these people.....

Some people believe teaching people to fish is better than giving them fish everyday and making them a dependent. But since you linked providing dependency welfare with social justice, I suppose you believe communism would eliminate poverty?

not really, I didn’t mention anyone....however, some people obviously felt insulted....there may be many reasons....perhaps someone sees themselves in a position that they cannot help and feels a sense of irrational guilt, perhaps others feel guilty because they are hypocrites (and irresponsible) and instead of taking on some responsibility for themselves, they just criticize and expect/take from others to solve a situation (immature). in any case, I am not saying that feeling guilty is necessarily a bad thing and certainly, there is nothing wrong with feeling bad about the tragedy that other people endure....the degree of defensive response at times helps elucidate the severity of the unconscious conflict.

as usual and expected, you add such nuanced insightful commentary to discussions :nope:....you are so pathetically predictable, the typical left authoritarian...
EDIT: btw, since you have been an ass for so long, maybe you can show me the ropes..

where did I do this exactly? it takes a communist to think like a communist....

I'm definitely not interrupting an opponent when he's making a mistake. Happy to have lent an extra shovel, though.

I think his point is that Christian Republicans don't pretend to be generous. Except in Church.

This remembers me the Alfaques disaster happened in 1978 in Spain.

Btw, according to the mood of the thread, what is worthier of our pity and righteous indignation? The Alfaques accident where victims were mostly relatively well-off Germans, French, Dutch and Spanish vacationers, or the tragedy in Pakistan where people voluntary got close to the danger but being so desesperately poor they needed to risk his lives to get some cash?

There's always 'something else' to point at. But that actually doesn't excuse one's one reluctance to actually help.

Voting every few years to elect someone who's slightly less bad at implementing social-spending policies is an utterly different level of commitment to actually ear-marking a portion of one's income to proper charity. And ear-marking an even larger portion of their income to walking-the-walk.

All I said in the OP was I couldn't imagine how destitute someone would be to risk their lives for a bit of petroleum. But thanks for calling me shallow, civver.

I'm not calling you anything. Personally I think bernie jumped the gun a bit with his post. I'm simply pointing out that it doesn't make sense to use the same criticism against him.

You guys can't just take bernie's criticism and apply it back to him...he's not the one virtue signaling about third world poverty.

yes, well in my day, :old: that is simply called narcissistic projection but I must admit that my words were harsh....i have not been in the best of moods and displacement is not much better than projection :hammer2:
