Hi,
Me and my wife have 2 separate computers. ;)
We are both connected through a Netgear RP 614v4 router and can connect to the internet and be browsing at the same time just fine. :goodjob:
We can play LAN without a problem.

But when we want to play online Civilization 4 Beyond the Sword at the same time, only 1 of us can be on at once. :(
We both have Civ4 with all Addons original. The Problem is also not the licencekey. And we have the firewall down.

I think, it is because we have the same static IP address (we check this on whatsmyip.com) through the router, but would anyone know, how to make it, so that we both have a separate Address yet connect through the same router.
Would anyone possibly have a solution to this problem.
Thanks so much

the problem can most likely only be solved if the router you sit behind allows to be set so that it gives each computer its own IP AND your internet provider allows allocation of more than one IP - this is probably the most problematic thing since this is uncommon for private internet connections...

thanks for the warm welcome. :goodjob:

Ok, i will call my provider - to check this.

Do you think this is the problem or is there anything else?

I am not too much into MP - but as fas as I understand it the MP setup for internet games distinguishes between players by their IP address. Most Internet providers use dynamic IPs, which means everytime you (i.e. your router) connects to the provider network it gets 1 IP address - and then has to divide the data between the computers it serves. If you want to have two distinguishable computers connected to the internet each of them needs to get an IP from your provider...
Of course if you had somehow access to another internet connection with atleast one of the comps you could try to see if all else works by just trying to setup an internet game this way.

Try opening CivilizationIV.ini on the other computer and changing the default port (2056) to
Port = 2055
so that both computers are using different ports
