2009 NFL Draft talk thread

Mock drafts are a huge waste of time, IMHO. It's nothing more than "educated" guesswork of the author...

Isn't Dan Reeves lined up for that? Anyhow is it really a good idea to grab another(the last 3 suck) USC QB to try to revive your franchise?

Are you including Palmer in your suck category?

Yes, and Cassel as well. Oh yeah, I said it. I laugh at whomever trades for him.

Cassel might not be a top tier QB, but he's not in the suck category. And Palmer doesn't suck, LOLZROFL.

Good stuff this thread :goodjob: .

A.Curry is a Demon Deacon, can't go wrong with 'em :D .

No way Miami takes another WR, defense or OL I'm almost sure.

Who are the top 3 Left Tackles again  ?

I think Cassels a dang fine player, hopefully they never get a extra-good running game at NE, Miami might not ever beat them. Palmer can really fling it, but not with a bum elbow  .

So who will QB for Lions next year if they don't go QB? Draft one later? :scan:

At the moment it looks like Miami is leaning towards ILB or Secondary. ATM, our O-line looks pretty solid even if the year was less than what most Dolfans expected. Jake Long is a probowl LT, LG Smiley was playing at a Pro-bowl level giving up 1, 2, or 3, sacks before his knee got destroyed (this is a case for worry but the guy who replaced him at times, C/G Alleman, played well). Satele, Miami's Center, was playing with a torn labrum all season which explained why he wasn't playing like he was in '07 (which was pretty good as a rookie on a 1-15 team). Donald Thomas, an '08 G 6th round rookie, was suppose to be the starter this year but he got hurt in the first game of the season. He really jumped out at Sparano during training camp getting him the start. I'm excited to see what he can do next season fully healthy. Vernon Carey, played RT okay, not amazing, will be a free agent soon. Word around the web is he will take a discount to stay with Miami, which works for the Front Office because they want him to come back.

The O-line could be addressed sometime in the draft just not on the first day.

Miami could beat New England before '07. In '06 they blanked the Pats 21-0. Miami had the misfortune of all that bad drafting and coaching reveal itself at the wrong time while New England had the right players and coaching to come out like that in the same season. Perfect storm. I am biased though, so who knows?

Carson didn't have surgery on his 'bow. It had to of healed properly without, unlike Jake Delhomme who did have surgery. Jake can still fling the ball around well enough to Steve Smith or Rodgers-Cromartie. As a semi-Bengals fan heres to Carson's elbow

Lions have okay QBs, Orlovsky, Stanton, and Culpepper know what to do: throw up to Calvin Johnson. He will catch it. What they need to make the above scenario work is an o-line to keep whoever is quarterbacking upright long enough. A good o-line can open up holes for any RB and block for any QB.

I'm wondering what the Ravens are going to do. Boller's a free agent (hmm, I guess if it were me, I'd be tempted to go with Tebow. I wonder if you can have a QB/RB combo - or, trade Boller to Detroit for a draft pick. Then again, the Ravens already have Flacco and Smith), and so are Lewis, Scott, and Suggs among others. Stover, too - I wonder if he's gonna retire soon. It seems like the Ravens are on the verge of being a team in rebuiding with all of the free agents, salary cap, and players getting close to retirement.

I don't know all of the positions exactly, but I do know we need CBs and WRs. If we lose all 3 linebackers (Lewis, Scott and Suggs), then the Ravens are in for a world of hurt next season, and they'll actually have to focus on offense to protect Flacco, along with definately getting a WR/TE (Heap seems to be in decline, and Mason's getting older).

No way the Ravens lose all three linebackers. There is even a way they could get back all three. For sure they will franchise tag one of them if necessary.

I would like for Ray to come to Dallas, but it ain't gonna happen :p

Don't be defending Cassel like that. He's a serviceable backup QB and that's it. Anyone that trades for him hoping to be "good" starter is foolish, providing the pats tag him. A lot of people keep making comparisons between Brady's numbers his first season, but remember the bums he had as wide receivers that year (patten, givens). Cassel took the helm of the most prolific offense in the history of the NFL and did a "decent" job.

He had back to back 400 yard games. Stop being a spoiled Patriots fan.

In his first full season he had those numbers, and you call him a serviceable backup? He is at the very least the best backup in the NFL, and actually probably better than more than a few other starting QB's.

Dan Orlovsky would have done as well as Cassel.

Stop being a whiny Patriots fan and stop bashing Cassell, OK?

Cassell may not be a top tier QB but his play this season has certainly put him miles ahead of Orlovsky. Cassell should be a reliable starter for a team in need of one I'm looking at for example Detroit, NY Jets or perhaps Kansas City). He's no Brady, but then again, how many QB's really are as good as Brady is?

Peyton Manning? :p

Suggs has even mentioned that all three need to come back to the Ravens at

a 'Discount' ... can ya believe it?

I think Ray Ray would consider going back at a discount, but who knows...he might see it as a slight to his pride. Bart Scott should be smart and look at what has happened to Baltimore players in other places. With the possible exception of Adalius Thomas (who was plugged into another great defensive system), they have been flops.
