That's a pretty good comparison, because David Carr also wasn't a very good quarterback.
He could have been good if he weren't being hammered into the ground like a stake every play.
 
I'm sorry to see Caldwell go, mainly because I hate the Colts. I will miss his vacant stare into the distance, as his team is crumbling around him.

I've endured more David Carr games than any human being should have to. I'm fairly confident in saying he would never have panned out. He has been third string material in New York and San Francisco. The idea that playing on the expansion Texans shellshocked him is also kinda ridiculous. Plenty of rookie QB's suffered through miserable seasons early in their career with pathetic olines. Maybe David Carr is just not that good at making decisions against the passrush? Maybe he never adjusted well to NFL speed? Maybe Fresno State would have gone 0-12 in the SEC? All of these are questions one must ask.
 
You could also apply that to Belichick.

Coughlin, on the other hand.....
