Its 23 days 6 hours and 14 minutes until it begins so i think its time to make a post about it.

So who going to win the cup this year?

The All Blacks are clear favourites dominating world rugby like normal, and this world cup happens to be in New Zealand mainly at fortress Eden wear they don't lose. But they also have a reputation of choking at world cup time.

Australia has the best coach in the world, have some of the best young players around and tend to peak at world cups.

South Africa have been a fair bit sucky lately, but they are cunning devils who aren't above resting their best players to make them look like a easy beat.

England seem to be copying the all blacks in pretty much everything but winning rugby match's. But they are former world champions and they are pretty good at getting scummy drop goals.

While France might not win, are always ready to knock the All Blacks out.

And then Argentina, Wales, Ireland and the pacific teams... you never know...

Hard to go past NZ despite their history of choking . They have a very experienced squad and if they can get to the final , ain't no way they are losing at Eden Park.

I can't see any northern hemisphere side winning 3 straight sudden death games to win it , and Australia and South Africa would need a charmed run to do the same.

I see Argentina ruffling a lot of feathers , and at 80 to 1 with bookmakers , great value .
    Looking forward to it

Hard not to choose NZ, especially given the recent Tri-nations validation of what we all thought was the ranking between the three big southern hemisphere nations.

England are a threat, though their preparation hasn't been ideal, and the last match in the 6 Nations showed just how vulnerable they can be. Can't really see any of the other countries threatening at all.

God I hope the Kiwis choke again.

But if they do, I hope England or the Saffers don't win it either.

    Tough ask, I know.

I'll be supporting Japan and Argentina in addition to the Wallabies, like usual.

Its half time of the last big game before the world cup and the all blacks are being crushed. This is depressing...

Henry made some questionable decisions when he was coach of Wales - good to see he's continuing that in NZ. He should have crushed the Springboks and taken the title then.

I still think the All Blacks are a better team (man for man that's surely true, yes ?), and that they are still the best bets for the World Cup. Nonetheless, congrats to the Aussies for taking advantage and winning the Tri-Nations.

An Economist friend of mine told me that there is a disturbing trend that every time the Kiwi side gets knocked out of a World Cup their economy takes a dive. He said it is so clearly measurable and known in economic circles that the results of their games are watched quite closely!

I'm backing the young Wallabies side for an upset, especially after their gritty win against the All Blacks last weekend....so having said that the Black's have no choice but to win it or face financial ruin.

It is also said that in an election year if the all blacks win then so does the government.

The problem is that we're now not due for another victory against NZ for a few years, which doesn't bode well for World Cup success. :hmm:

I just had to go for NZ. :( They're (mostly) on form and much more to the point they're playing at home. Frankly if they don't win it this time they might as well not bother turning up in future.

With all that said I would love to see them blow it.
