So, another year has come and gone, and C2C development continues on. Many things have changed, many things have been added, and many new ideas have been floated, making 2012 a very interesting year for all of us. Here are things I see as good and bad about the past year.

Bad:
Things to Watch in 2013:
What does everyone else remember and think about C2C in 2012?
Good:
- The Property System: This has been such a great thing for game design opportunities in C2C. Crime had it's bumps and bruises, but now we seem to have a good grasp on how to use it and can probably make new and unique features with it that are balanced as well.
- Viewports: Both a cure for almost all MAFs and the first step towards Multi-Maps, this is quite a step forward. Thanks to LyTning for his help on this, without him this probably would not have become a reality.
- Gamespeeds: Maybe I'm biased, but they seem a lot better now than they did at the start of the year. Note that this doesn't equate to top level balance.
- AI: Koshling has worked marvels on this, playing against the computer is loads more challenging now than it was a year ago.
- My joining the team. Honestly, you couldn't expect me to leave that out.
Bad:
- Not getting Multi-Maps: This was something that came to us a year ago, and due to circumstances it just didn't pan out this year. I hope that this can come along in 2013.
- Summer Distractions: That was a real drain on all of us, and I think sapped some enthusiasm during the middle of the year.
- Top Level Balance: It is worse now in some ways than at the start of the year. Civics need some more work IMO to get balanced, and the scaling issues with C2C became more apparent as the year went on with the steamroll effects and sheer amount of time needed to progress past the earlier eras.
Things to Watch in 2013:
- AXXXXE: If we get that off the ground it has the potential to become something big. The idea of making our own game and engine excites me greatly, and this will be one of the things I most closely watch (and hopefully code) in 2013
- Multi-Maps: As I said above, getting them in 2013 would be really nice. That is a revolution for civ modding, and making a Galactic Era would be a great accomplishment
- Later Starts: Somewhere there is a file I made that among other things details a potential method for starting in later eras. Essentially it would give you a fully functioning civ from the get-go, in either the Classical or Renaissance era. That is an idea I think could be explored further.
