So with the news that the lockout is over and the season to start within a few days, we can finally have this thread :)

We don't know yet how long the season will be exactly (48-50 match seems to be the prediction), or how it will break down, though it appears likely that there will be no cross-conference games. One prediction that's been making the round is 5 games against each division rival (20) and 3 against each non-division team in your conference (30). Back when a 52-game calendar seemed likely, another prediction was 8 x division rival (32) and 2 x conference rival (20).

You guys are a disgrace. Anybody that watches any hockey games or spends any money on the NHL is part of the problem.

Screw that noise. I love watching the NHL and some petty corporate bickering is not enough to make me rob myself of something I enjoy.

In other news -- 2-1, Leafs won against the Habs. It looks like Kadri is finally ready for the NHL and I am deeply impressed with Kostka and.. Komisarek. Even Kessel, too. The two of them have worked hard on their defence. Komisarek is still a little bulky on his skates but he's much more agile and doesn't make as many mistakes.

Wasn't too impressed with Franson and Mcclement. Phaneuf seems faster, which is nice. Liles is questionable. He screwed up a couple times but also came back and saved the day a couple times. Lupul and Bozak are as expected. Van Riemsdyke, meh. Scrivens did generally okay. He needs to work on his top glove. The Habs almost scored a few goals by shooting up high and it always resulted in a rebound.

Glad to see Orr playing on the Leafs again, though. Can't wait to see the fights. :D

All in all, start the parade. WE'RE GONNA WIN THE CUP, GAIS.

woop woop Sharks win first game

lololololol

Are the Senators any good?

It's not particularly worse than other professional sports.

The NHL's leadership is *unquestionably* worse than other major north american leagues. Two significant work stoppages in what, 6 years? Losing ESPN? The inability for half the league to make money? Bad leadership.

yeah, bettman is a real drip. couple him with the d-bag who spearheaded the lost world series of 1994 and it's quite craptastic. but that is water under the proverbial bridge. if there's people out there who want to grind axes then so be it. your loss. just don't bother me with the angst b/c i have my hockey back now !

The problem is, even a large scale boycott wouldn't hurt much because most of the ticket profit is corporate, and corporate sales wouldn't be affected by the boycott.

So not going to deprive myself of something I enjoy for the sake of (failing to) punish that little idiot Bettman. He's not worth the sacrifice.

I Could not disagree more. Lots of vendors are back at work now.

Oh man, this is the best Leafs home opener I've ever seen. They got the guy from the International Space Station to make a video for the puck drop, along with a video montage of some big time Leaf players. Epic.

Edit: YEAAAH COLTON ORR!

I will be a happy man if Ryan Miller never plays against the Leafs again.
