I think Clowney's defense says it all. "I wasn't trying to hurt him." Thing is that "trying to hurt him" is not, and never has been, the standard. He piled on a guy who was already down, helmet first. That gets flagged all the time, and nobody claims that all those penalties are based on "you tried to hurt him." I think in most cases that would draw a flag, but it really doesn't matter what would happen 'in most cases' because in some it wouldn't and in this one it didn't and that's how it goes.

This is generally my attitude about all these call/no call "we was wobbed!" referee controversies after games.

Especially in this case - they could also have called DPI since the CB never took a look at the ball.

The league is reviewing Clowneys hit on Wentz.

He might be fined (at the worst), but I can almost guarantee you he won’t get a suspension for it.

Right, to get suspended you have to do something really dangerous... like let a few drops of air out of a ball.

That was obviously deliberate and came from a team that was known for it very well.

Like cheat and put the entire league's multi-billion dollar position at risk.

This doesn't surprise me in the least. Only diehard Eagles fans and/or angry Seahawk haters seriously thought that the play was illegal, let alone that he'd be fined or suspended for it.

I cannot fathom how CBS gives the call of a playoff game to Dan $%#@#$@ Fouts.

If the Titans win this game, I am taking them to win against every opponent they play including the Super Bowl itself.*

*Unless it’s the Seahawks, for emotional reasons.

I will add that it's not just that they beat the Ravens (in Baltimore, at that) but how they beat them. I am done doubting this team.

Can't say as I was sorry to see it, even if it torpedoed my pick.

Y'know, Tony Dungy was talking about the year the Colts went 13-3, had the number one scoring offense, won all their games by double digits...and laid an egg in the playoffs. He said the next season they weren't dominant at all; won a lot of close ones, and lost some. But in his words "When you get to the playoffs you are going to be in close games, no way around it." The Colts won the Super Bowl that next season, when they went into the playoffs 'battle tested.'

This game (from the Chiefs point of view) is already a disaster. Genuinely didn't see this coming.

It took the Chiefs a full quarter to realize the game had started, but they're certainly working to make up for lost time.

Allegedly, Chiefs fans were complaining that they got fleeced in the Frank Clark trade, but it sure doesn’t look like that watching this game.
