French revolution and Napoleon Bonaparte.

American revolution and George Washington.
The Haitian Revolution was triggered by a Vodun Witch Doctor who played no recorded role thereafter...

Morelos triggered the Mexican Revolution, but died shortly after doing so.

@Traitorfish
I still have no idea what you are getting at.

Ajidica suggested that Cardgame's implicit endorsement of revolution was as empty as Biden's platitudes. I highlighted that Cardgame is not running for the presidency, while Biden is, with the implication that he has more leeway for frivolous commentary than somebody who is explicitly asking us to favourably imagine how he would handle the current civil unrest.

I don't know what this had to do with either prophets or generalissimos of revolutions past.

Assuming that @cardgame being accused of inciting a revolution also shows a desire by them to be the "leader," of whatever comes after.

That is an extraordinary leap of imagination, especially given that the implicit subtext of his comment was that the revolution has already started.

But has it? Or did it start in the '60's, when similar protests, and similar anger were rampant?

There are always a significant number of Mickey Mouse votes too. In 2016 Trump won MI by 10k votes. 90k ballots in the state voted straight blue but left the top blank. Maybe it'd be better to figure out why 90k Democrats voted that way than trying to shame Jill Stein voters.

It's not hard nor a secret why that happened: the most hated woman in the country was the candidate for that one.Even many in "her" party couldn't stand her.
Biden, to be fair, doesn't cause the same degree of repulsion.

Frankly, there was no "good," or "correct," or "moral," choice in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election - it was a slimy Demon Lord vs. the Grand Duchess of Hell!

There will be. Isn't there a law that Trump ceases to be president if there is no election by a certain time.
I thought someone posted something about that here.
Narrator: there was and they didn't follow it
I hope that it doesn't offend you that my mind's voice became the voice of the voiceover narrator for Arrested Development when I read that. :)

So did Andrew Jackson in 1824, and the "Era of Good Feelings," promptly crashed into the second era vicious, partisan, mudslinging, WW1-style political trench warfare.

Yes, by winning CA and NY in a landslide. Take those two states away and Trump won by 1.5 million. I know people hate the EC but it does give voice to the industrial Midwest that was gutted by her husband's actions. It does have it's merits.

Ah yes, those industrial strongholds of Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Kansas.
Was industrial manufacturing in New York and California not likewise affected? Or do you just choose to ignore the once massive manufacturing sector in New York City?

the industrial midwest is east of the Mississippi

Yep. West of the Mississippi into the Rockies is still big Ag. Which actually ahs a very different outlook on tariffs and trade wars. Although they can be bribed by more subsidies. Go figure. Got to love that "socialism for me and mine, capitalism for yours" can do american attitude!

Oh sure numbers wise, unless he nukes Iran, he won't.

But contemporary drains on society, an aggressive actor, a hostile force in power is still something that needs to be fought against and opposed. We're trying to move on from the last century, not repeat it, after all. We must try to do better and hold ourselves to a damn good standard.

That's like comparing two sports players' careers, one retired and in the hall of fame, the other still playing, and with several years likely still ahead of them.

Lol if you think we're going to have anything remotely resembling an election this year

It's because of vote splitting. If Sanders won it would be dumb for Biden to run.

I get what you're saying, but it's also a hypothetical, which is all I'm trying to outline. These hypotheticals are based on who you think is more likely to win. Anyone who believes that Biden has the best chances are going to oppose any vote-splitting, while those that think Biden will lose believe other candidates could actually win instead.

The third party splitting votes thing is total trash. Absolute garbage. A lot of the people who vote third party wouldn't vote otherwise. Assuming one party or the other would be entitled to those votes in the absence of that party is just plain absurd. Voting for that other option is a choice made by voters to not support either trash party.

Saying "if "X" person runs it's handing the election to Trump" is working backwards politically. Find out why "X" is getting those votes instead of Biden then push Biden to get those votes. He's shown nothing but disdain for the leftist dems. If they go somewhere else its nobody's fault but his if Trump pulls off another W.

I genuinely don't know what you mean to say with this comment.

I believe Donald Trump far more emulates and channels Tricky Dick in his Presidential governing style than his claimed role-models Andrew Jackson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan, especially in light of these protests, and the nice video with awesome retrospective footage I linked above, but will re-link for convenience. Unfortunately, the song (and footage), are SOLELY about the Kent University Protest massacre, but the Hard Hat Riot and Jackson University Protest massacre, within a couple weeks of Kent, are also very good examples of Nixon's brutality and intolerance of opposition.

But when the president does it that means that it is not illegal!

If only he could be more like Tricky Dick! At least he'd be expanding the EPA instead of doing his best to abolish it...

At least Nixon gave us an opera. His end was Shakespearean, wandering the halls of the White House arguing with paintings. Trump just toilet tweets while struggling with a particularly tough former Big Mac.

True. But, Nixon also a racist - there's audio footage to prove it. In fact, I believe someone posted a piece of such Nixon audio footage way upthread.
