    Joe "look, fat" Biden
Joe "poor kids are just as bright as white kids" Biden
Joe "you are full of ****" Biden
Joe "you are a lying dog-faced pony soldier" Biden
Joe "kids love touching my leg hair" Biden
Joe "all men and women are created equal by.. you know, you know the thing" Biden
    Joe "don't be a horse's **** Biden
Joe "i am running for US Senate" Biden
Joe "vote for someone else" Biden
    Joe "let's do pushups" Biden
Joe "nothing will fundamentally change" Biden

The boomers are clueless, but anyone under 60 has seen at least one of those online, and none of these are convincing enough to vote for someone like this. At least Trump is entertaining. Joe is straight up vicious.

Eh I'd say tim misspoke there. I think he meant 40% of the electorate, not population. I've seen that breakdown quite a few times before.

The problem with percentages and whatnot is that Democrats win the popular vote primarily because the two most populous states in the country are overwhelmingly blue. If you took CA out of the 2016 election Trump won the popular vote by over a million votes.

No doubt whatsoever, and on Breitbarf et al. The question is whether it will be a big deal on MS-NBC and whatever the left equivalents of Breitbarf et al are. Another key question is whether the left MEME spewers counter the right MEME spewers. 'Must have Trump for SCOTUS seat' will be the stock in trade of the MEME spewers on the right, but I have no doubt that MEME spewers who claim to lean left will be stuck in their "look at Biden from 20 years ago what a bad candidate" ruts.

Wonder what's going to happen if RBG gets sick and dies in the run up to the election? Oh wait, I know - they'll ram her replacement through and the democrats won't stop it.

Fixed that for you. It may be a really bad time to point out how stupid it was of certain Democrats to get us into such a position.

Hillary actually won the popular vote as did Gore so, idk, people saying they were terribly unsuccessful, they came incredibly close. Yes Dukakis got his butt kicked.

See I'm leaving extra-legal intervention in the style of McConnell with respect to Gorsich on the table. Anyways, McConnell did hold all the power cards which the Dems lack, but they should fight this tooth and nail, including blocking the Senate from voting with protests or whatever it takes really. In the past I used to decry whenever the Dems tried to play the same style of hardball as the GOP but I'm long past that. They also need to mobilize mass protests and the like while pulling any and all parliamentary maneuvers.

That said, they won't do any of that and use the excuse of not holding the Senate or the Presidency to not do anything at all besides express concern.

Compared to McGovern even Dukakis "came close."

As I've been saying - and other posters have saying I'm wrong - this party boss interference in the nominations DIDN'T die with Boss Tweed and Boss Crump.

"Blocking the Senate from voting with protests" isn't actually possible. Letting the Republicans name the Senate majority leader has consequences. That's a lesson left leaning voters who want to throw tantrums when the candidate is imperfect need to learn, period.

I suspect a few people sitting 2016 out thought Hilary was a shoe in.

If you don't like Biden and won't vote for him fair enough.

If you're equating him with Trump and are actively doing this you're an idiot if not outright troll. You're basically helping Trump at that point.

This is because of SCOTUS and RBG. Wade Vs Roe isn't a done deal and it's not baked into the constitution.

@Timsup2nothin I don't believe that. I think if there were ever a time for mass mobilization to be able to move to stop the slow motion coup, it'd be right when the GOP tries to steal* another SCOTUS appointment in the middle of a pandemic they are failing to respond to. Protests can work; we are just massively out of practice here.

*Stealing by their own definition of 'not during an election year' - which of course we all know has the unwritten subtext of '....while a Democrat is in the White House'.

As well, the makeup of our federal system means that loss of the Senate can't be entirely blamed on the Democrats given the GOP gets two Senators for every depopulated state that are equal to the two from every populated state. And there's more of the former than the latter so yeah.

I did a pretty long post in Amadeus' poll thread about why those tantrums get thrown. Getting your party's guy in means nothing if hes not doing anything good, or even worse, doing a lot of bad.

You still can use your mod-powers to undo this.
I am not sure. He might end up making the movement more visible. of course, the spin media put on things can help make or unmake it.
Not population but electorate. You don't have universal suffrage in the US, which is why polls that measure opinion among general 'Muricans don't always correlate with voters' choices, even when taking votes at-large, aggregate region/state/countrywide tallies, and so on. It's a distinction which we have to make.
OK, you're accusing him of being a socialist, big deal.

Both Trump and Clinton deserved to hated and feared in 2016. The ultimately unrepresentative and easily manipulated by party boss' nomination systems of both major parties FAILED the voters in 2016, and owe them a humble public apology, full resignation from their positions, any future politically-oriented position of any sort, declining all politically-derived pensions and benefits, and then a full admission of ALL of their electoral interference and malfeasance, insistence on charges and trial, and pleading fully guilty. And that would only START to make up for how they betrayed the trust of the voters by allowing those nominations to end up as the only two.

As I already said, I already took the "don't vote, won't vote, no matter what" off the top. They are, in a very practical sense, irrelevant so I genuinely just never think of them. Strategists who chase "I will appeal to the non-voters" are sent off to grow turnips or pick up trash on roadsides.
