I didn't know 60 million people caught the swine flu, that was a 1/5th of the country. Thank God it wasn't so deadly. Harris repeatedly blamed Trump for covid deaths when that was a bipartisan effort. And she said Trump misled us about covid (true) and Biden would follow Fauci's advice, but Fauci lied about masks. So if Fauci told a President Biden to downplay the virus and need for masks would Biden play along or ignore his advice? You cant blame Trump for listening to Fauci then endorse listening to Fauci.

It's a bit like how Trump won the election.

The debate commission says the second presidential debate will be virtual and Trump says he will not participate in a virtual debate.

I'm guessing because of how easy it'll be to mute him.

An estimate on when most of the people will vote?
Or on how many voted by now?

Shame. Watching half-dead Trump raging and gasping for air would actually be worth a watch.

They should still do the debate and basically give Biden 1 hour to answer questions. I get this is probably a bad idea considering how good Biden is at these things, it will hurt him, damnit never mind. . . Oh what I would give to actually vote FOR someone one day. . .

Well, its good to know your quality, Rob.

    Much obliged, sir.

I love the argument that targeted subsidy does nothing is reared in defense of "we must enact this targeted subsidy, to not do so is unjust!"

Look, you want to force direct federal subsidization of late term abortive procedures in my restrictionless state. I get it, you get it, quit lying to me about it. That argument doesn't even possess the veneer of internal consistency. I get that his grasp of truthiness is pretty impressive, but you don't need to demonstrate Assclownism praise for me.

Make the debate entertaining - force each candidate to wear a powerful shock collar and give them zaps when they interrupt or go over their time limit!

About 7-8% of voters have already cast a ballot, about 10% of Dems and 5% of Republicans.

Targeted for subsidies only because of violent and obstructive hissy fits by local yokels.

You know? If they were to repeal Hyde while also enacting a federal prohibition on late term abortions, lets say 3rd trimester-ish, rather than the existent ban on merely partial-birth abortions, with the standard-ish bundle of exceptions, violence/incest/health of mother... I'd probably go for that. But that's not what's being offered. We're being offered social terminations with negative liberty arguments.

From the article you linked: "The CNN/SRSS poll contacted 609 registered voters in the hours after the debate, and the margin of error is 5.3 percentage points".

609 people are not enough. How the margin of error can only be 5 points when the people questioned are so few... is anyone's guess.

@Kyriakos, it’s fairly standard statistical practice. The margin of error is calculated by dividing 1 by the square root of the number of those surveyed.

There’s another issue of the confidence interval; if they do the survey 100 times, it’s probably going to come out with a similar result 95/100 times.

That’s why surveys are rarely done for more than 1,000 or 2,000 people. Who you sample could bias the results, though; I remember reading one election poll that I think had Alf Landon beating Roosevelt in 1936. The polling was fine, the problem was it was a telephone-based poll and people that had telephones were more likely to be wealthy, and wealthy voters favored Landon over Roosevelt. So they blew it from that end.

It's just math. Statistics. A rough estimate of the margin of error of a random poll is:

    1 / sqrt[#polled]

For example, to get a +/-2.5% margin of error, which is usually considered "good enough" you'd need to poll 1600 people. sqrt[1600] = 40; 1/40=2.5%

    EDIT: ninja'd!
