The Old World 2025 community tournament is nearly upon us!


This will be a series of Network Duels with a Double Elimination Bracket format, starting in September. Games will be streamed on Twitch and YouTube with commentary where possible.

Is there going to be another blog post going through the results of the tournament when it wraps up, perhaps with a bracket of who advanced? I became aware of it again with the notice about it on the menu in the latest patch, and I see I'm hopelessly far behind in the playlist - 127 videos in, with most being a bit over two hours long. I'd never have any time to play Old World if I tried to catch up by watching the videos!

But I am a bit curious how it goes. In a "I'm not going to watch every game of March Madness, but I'd be curious to check the bracket and read about the highlights of the top games" way. Which maybe I could find on Discord, but I'd rather find information in a less chat-like interface (I did find this post on the Old World Reddit, but not an overview of how the tournament has gone so far). If nothing else, a blog post after the tournament might help drum up interest in multiplayer.

Which... I just bought a copy to send to a friend that I play Civ VI with online (and have played Soren Johnson's Civilization IV with in past years), looks like it's a fantastic time to buy gift copies right now.

I see someone named FluffyBunny is still in the tournament, I think that might be who I have to root for to win the whole thing .

We are planning on another blog post after the tournament finishes yes, with some game highlights and talking about some of the game changes that have come out of it.

I know Siontific is planning on creating a highlights reel video as well
