if you want lots of cows, try large and huge maps. It's not all that uncommon to find starts with 4+ if you use mapfinder.

On tiny maps, there may not be 6 cows on the entire map.

Mapfinder doesn't seem to work for me. For some reason it tries to save every start it finds, regardless of the criteria I enter, which it can't seem to do because it always tries the same filename.

So all my games are manual finds (tho it doesn't usually take more than 5-10 minutes to find a couple cows by a river).

I normally play Huge maps btw. I like epic games. I'm doing well ok on my latest attempt to beat Huge Deity, hopefully i'll be posting about that in a day or two.

that said, the fastest 100K time is a PTW game.

Is this covered somewhere. I hate killing off my citizens and all that primae noctis feudal stuff (unless you were the lord)

I have read that some people even take up all that Commie doctrine to get ahead of us democratic types. The intricacies are still beyond me.

I've got the same problem (manual finds) but I seldom see a cow. I look for a good river location with a goodie hut nearby that my worker pops for a second tribe by 3850 BC. If I don't get my second town or if Ivory is too far away I start again.
