Today I learned that Civ1 came out in September 1991, which makes this month the 25th anniversary of its release. I don't know the day in September on which it was released, but my guess is someone here would know that.

At any rate, it seems like a nice milestone to commemorate for the Civ community. Not sure if there's anything CFC wants to put together for the event, and alas, Civ1 somewhat predates my time, but in case someone has a cool idea for the occasion, I thought I'd bring it up in Site Feedback. It'd be nifty if there was some Civ1 event that could be put on the front page for the anniversary!

The designer's notes in the manual are dated September 11, 1991. Even if they wrote those at the last minute, with printing and binding you would probably end up at the end rather than the middle of September. Obviously, I don't know the exact date either.

How about a succession game?

Edit: This thread

points to December 16th, but I don't see how the link supports that.

It's not that important really. Even the game itself doesn't say when *exactly* in 4000 BC the first city was founded. :)

I still have my manual and disks!
