3+ minutes turns

Simply put, BE runs perfectly fine except when the AI are taking their turns. Most of it, which lasts at least a minute or two, consists of a frozen screen with a loading cursor. Any idea of what might be wrong (and how I can fix it?

By the way, the freezing only happens during the Minor Powers' turn.

It all comes down to your system specs. And since you haven't given any information about them, it's all speculation.

However, freezes and turn calculations which take several minutes indicate a weak system.

Since this game doesn't have a strategic view, I'd play it on smaller maps with fewer sponsors. As there are more alien units now, too, the calculations for them - without a doubt - intensified.
