Ok, I was achievement hunting, and I wanted to complete the game with Japan.

So I thought, what's the absolute quickest way I can win 'cos I don't really want to play Japan seriously.

I set up this game:
Settler difficulty, Duel map size, Pangaea, Future era, Marathon speed

Squished my opponent in 16 turns, and got a score of 47,300.

Now my hall of fame looks @#$%!

Wow.

So much for the scoreboards. Is there anything that devs didn't brake in this game?

The score board is kinda lame.
Whenever I spam some wonders I get a high score. It doesn't really matter when I finish the game or on which difficulty level.
In CIV 4 it was very motivating to win as fast as possible on high difficulties because you got rewarded with a ridiculously high score (although it had an annoying bias to domination victories)

@topic: Ok, technically you teched to future era in 16 turns. The game is just too to stupid to realize the circumstances ^^

Well, I don't really mind that the scoring is broken, so long as I have the option of deleting the ones I think are lame.

Heck, I'll be happy if there's an ingame option to clear the hall of fame board.
(I'm sure a bit of manual cleaning will do it, but I don't have enough respect for it to be bothered)

So far the only thing that annoys me is that difficulty has little weight on the score. My highest score is still the first game I played only because it was on "Prince" and I won quickly. My recent Immortal victory is sixth place because I took longer to win. :(

Does gold amount factor in? I got over 10k for winning on Immortal on diplomacy (for achi). I would have won earlier but I kept gandhi alive with one city to get Liberty and then Autocracy just for achievements and I had like 100000 gold at that point, was getting like 2700 per turn. (quite a few turns after the screenshot). I had 4 cities of my own and rest were puppets.

What map type is that??? And holy crap that's a lot of gold! Post your savegame so I can learn! :p

I can see how you make that much gold owning basically the entire map. I want to know how you keep your happiness positive? You must have 1 of each luxury resource in the game. Can you take a screen shot of your SP screen? Also does each city have multiple +Happy buildings?

Having every happiness resource = permanent love the king day for all cities.
Well, near permanent. I think they get an occasional day off or somesuch.

With that growth rate boost, it's possible to have massive population numbers.
Population makes gold and science just by existing, and will in turn pay for those happy buildings.

It's quite possible to play a game where every city has every building (except walls, military buildings, or production buildings that require resources), and still roll in cash and smiles.
Although, with really big cities, piety is probably necessary (unless you're India).

Most of the game I was unhappy. I didn't have a single happiness golden age. The golden age near the end was from Taj Mahal and popping great people because at that point it was pretty irrelevant already. I was conquering whenever happiness allowed it. Most of the time it was the AI declaring war even.

Once I got Forbidden Palace and Planned Economy it got pretty easy. I didn't have Meritocracy until very late because frankly I forgot about it :mischief: Would have been easier and faster with it definitely. Also I think I bought all happiness buildings that I could in the four cities I governed myself.

The puppets like to build happiness buildings especially if you are unhappy. I was always pretty good on gold, in fact it felt much better than most other games. I feel like it's mostly because of the Chinese special library that gives +4 gold. It really adds up.

I didn't have save game from the screenshot times but here is one from turn 227 and one on turn 317 (one turn before vote, I have 113k gold and 3k per turn :crazyeye:, check out the trading post fields I had built for fun while waiting for social policies )

Also I allied 5 maritime states for fun (actually every single cs). My happiness could go down by 10 per turn from population growth, but the puppets would also keep cranking out buildings. Communism and Statue of Liberty means they produce stuff quite fast and with the ridiculous amount of money coming in maintenance certainly was not a problem. India would probably be absolutely ridiculous because population would only produce half the unhappiness.

Wasn't this always the case for speed wins in every civ?

Well, in previous games you would get gimped for score by playing settler difficulty.

Anyhow, I found out how to delete the entry, so it's all cool now.
