5.0 Beta - State of the Game (after 2 plays)

I'm pretty sure it is EUI only, you shouldn't be able to hide when playing non-EUI

Just finished a play with the Ottomans. My thoughts:

Grand Bombard: Phew, that thing is strong when it comes out. It has its weaknesses for sure, but nothing stands up to this thing. Combined that with the already incredibly powerful Jannissary, realistically the Ottomans should conquer whatever they want at gunpowder. And heck the bombard and jannisary still hold up as you shift into field gun/g gun for their bonuses, so its a very long window of optimized warfare.

Tersane: How I used them this game was. I put two of them on a city combined with some big ITRs. This gave me a big naval production city that got to lvl 4 (aka 3 promos) long before military academies. For that it was pretty solid. Ultimately this doesn't add to the raw Ottoman land military machine as much as expand it into the water, letting your siege foundries generate more science and giving you a navy to complement your land.

Is it a strong UB?....no, but I don't know if it needs to be either. You could bump up the yields if you wanted it to be a bit more competitive (and perhaps add in some Great Admiral points to make them flow a bit more), but mainly this is about the xp, getting that extra Xp flowing earlier in the game is a solid bonus, the +15% production is a cherry on top. And for that already on top of a powerful miltiary civ I think its doing its job.

Overall: 4UC ottomans is still an internal production focused civ. While you can get ETRs...to me its just better to go ITRs, get your UA safely while using the hammers to build up a massive force, and then you hit gunpowder and just go on a tear....with basically nothing that can stand in your way. 4UC just made that even stronger while offering a bit more on the naval side with the Tersane. The Ottomans have some decent economic bonuses but really it all goes towards the Military Industrial Complex of Ottoman might.

Civilopedia says the production and XP bonuses don't stack on a single city
