Yeah. Get 5-6 slingers by turn 15-20 with Mining first (to chop two forests), Rex up to 3 cities , save your money, upgrade your slingers, and then spam Ptati like no tomorrow.

I lost 2 Pitati while killing TWENTY FIVE LEGIONS, various spearmen, archers, and warriors and taking 4 of Rome's cities.

The only person you can't rush with ease in the early game is Scythia and that's because of their spam.

Walls? Pffffft. It takes 6 Ptati 1-2 turns to take down a wall.

What people don't realize about the Ptati is that once you hit critical mass, they're even more efficient than Scythian horsemen. You think Knights stop them? Think again.

6 Pitati shots kill a full health knight. 5 kills a full health legion. If they're upgraded (and most of them will be) it only takes 4 shots. 3 shots will kill pretty much anything else.

They should rename the Pitati "the death machine" so people would build more of them and realize how OP they are.

Well promoted range mops in general. Take any generic civ for a spin, farm XP on archers, upgrade to xbows and have a great general lead them. Deity AI is pretty complicit in letting you farm up archers. It often forces this.

Properly controlled medieval should be one shotting pitati archers, their major threat window is before this.

They still suck against cities (not talking about walls)... A knight-garrisoned city can be 60 strength or so... Your pitati does -17 against it... You do the math. Takes forever to go through your 4th victim or so on an 8-player deity map...

Well yeah but by then the game's won.

Just wait and tech up to ballistics and continue.

Besides, you're getting exp with every shot.
