18 civs, small map, 6 continents, Deity level, no tech trading.

How?

I evened the playing field:

Took Peter of the Russians, gave him ALL traits, gave him Theology to start with, gave Russians 3 settlers and 2 fast workers in 4000BC. LOL

My least favorite time of the game is having to build settlers in the capital while I should be building wonders, so I fixed the "problem".

XML modding is easy and fun...

I think I'll try Pangea map next time on Deity, give Russians like 20 Cossacks in 4000 BC and no settlers and play like a super-barbarian.

Splat a big "L" on your forehead Sevster...

That gives me an idea for a scenario: start a new civ around 1 AD called aliens which start with a spaceship (icbm) and an astronaut (warrior). Christianity is founded in Jerusa... - wha??? - BAM! Spaceship (ICBM) crashes right on top of the city whiping out most of the pop and all the military. A single astronaut(warrior) survives, so in awe of the heavenly might the remaining citizens worship him, thus the city is captured by aliens. Unfortunately, an astronaut has amnesia (has to research all techs from the start), but his intelligence is beyond any of the human (big research bonus)....

If you think the mods I made on the start-up automatically win a game for you, think again! All the civs will have huge bonuses on you when it comes to economy / buildings / military, so they will catch up... These mods just allow a builder-type player to compete at Deity, which is impossible otherwise on a small map with 18 civs.

Ohhh look!I won on immortal becuase I started myself out with 50 ICBMs and 30 modern armors and threw in 35 stealth bombers on top.Arent I good?

Deity is freaking hard whether you start with 3 settlers or 1. 3 settlers on a small map with 18 civs will allow you to grab a bit of territory, otherwise you will always end up with 1-2 cities since AI builds super-fast.

Anyways, I thought I was doing good, destroying Incans and being the largest on my continent till Mao declared war and unloaded a stack of grenadeurs near one of my cities. Luckily, I had 8 elite swordsmen stationed there from the previous war, so I quickly upgraded them to macemen and barely held on to the city.

Had to beeline for gunpowder and grenadeurs to prevent further invasions. Finally Mao signed peace, but stupid Alex on my continent declared war on me despite being 45% my size. I only had a few grenadeurs, and Greeks sent a lot of units, but my macemen held them back sustaining significant losses. Now, my stack of catapult / musketmen / macemen / 1 grenadeur put Sparta under siege from the North, while a larger stack of grenadeurs is preparing for an invasion from the East.

Alex has no chance, although it will be a while till I be able to capture Athens, which has about 25 units stationed there, and then I will mop up Mongolian cities on the South of my continent, making me the sole civ on it. Then I will concentrate on my economy to catch up Isabella who is 400 points ahead of me.

This is a conquest / domination game and I will need great economy to prepare for future wars with civs on 5 other continents.

Deity is freaking hard
Did you read the part in the manual that says Deity is supposed to be a nearly-impossible level. If you don't want the challange, why bother tweaking Deity and playing on it? Why not just play at Noble or something.

I enjoy the challenge, but I beat the game twice already on Emperor level.

I figured to win on Deity (small map, 18 civs), I needed at least 3 starting cities in decent location and a religion. Thus I made the mod. The game is still far more difficult than with 1 settler on emperor due to the insane bonuses to AI, but I like it that way. Try it yourself.

Make sure you dont post any HOFs with your jenked game, we dont appreciate cheaters bragging about there "leet skillz".

You are a moron. The game is made to be customizable, this is not cheating.

If you think its easy, then try it yourself.

People are upset with you not because you modified the game to make it more enjoyable for yourself but that you misled them. Making a post title saying you're first in score on Deity makes people think you are doing good in a legitimate Deity match. Then they find out you just tweaked the game to give yourself a boost and therefore your lead means nothing to them.

The title was intended as a teaser - joke to demonstrate how civ 4 can be made more enjoyable.

I apologize if people's feeling have been hurt.

:crazyeye:

Anyways, now its 1560 AD. Isabella of Spanish is first in score at 2100+. I am tied with Bismark for 2nd with 1900+. Mansa Musa is close 3rd with 1800,

Germans already had SAM infantry for a long time!!! And this is on epic speed.

After defeating Chinese invasion, I managed to crush the Greeks to all but one city. Athens fell. However, right after Napoleon invaded with a huge stack of riflemen to try and capture Athens. I barely held on to the city.

After a peace treaty with Napoleon, Romans invaded the West Coast. I defeated their invasion. Then French broke the treaty and tried to capture Athens again.

The problem with these West Coast invasions is that I do not have horses on my continent, and all my grenadeur and cannon-producing cities are on the eastern part of the continent, so even with a small map it takes a few turns to send reinforcements.

I ended up keeping a medium-sized army of grenadeurs in the West to fight the second French war, but that meant diverging the forces from South Mongolian border. And thats where Khan struck. He sent about 30 crossbowmen / macement in waves to capture my south-eastern city of St Petersburgh. Once those forces were defeated, I captured all Mongol cities with a relatively small army of grenadeurs / cannons.

Now after a peace with Napoleon, I control all but one Greek city on my continent. My forces have been somewhat thinned out by many wars, and I make a nice landfat target for Spanish and/or Germans. If Bismark invaded with infantry right now, I would probably lose one or two cities. But Isabella is at war with Mansa, and I try to keep Bismarck happy while I build up a continental defense network.

Actually, that is a mod that I think would be fun to play. Just don't allow tech trading and ensure piece for a while so that the warrior doesn't get crushed.
