i am working on the largest C3C space mod ever fathomed . the first technical issue I run into is the maximum number of citys you can have on a map that's 256X320 squares . the max limit of citys is 512 and I need to increase that to at least 1280 maybe 2000 citys but lets start with 1280 citys . while i'm asking questions is there someway to increase the number of players from 31 to say eh? why not 200 player . so that's my question is their someway to increase the maximum number of citys and players to 2000 citys and 200 players

No and No. You can get a No City limit patch to increase the cities a little bit, but I'm told you run into an error soon after passing the original limit.

31 civs is the max that can be on the map. Maybe someone will make it possible to have more than 31 selectable, but that hasnt happened yet.

OK , i'm limited to 512 citys , i'll see what it does with 512 citys and 1500 resource colony's used as small undeveloped villages . I can work with 512 major city's with a population in the billions and smaller citys with a population in the millions . and use small resource colonys for citys with a population in the thousands and use a terrain feature such as an air base or fortification for citys with a population in the 10s or 100s . I can use 31 players on any one map but with 10 maps I can have 310 different players .

Spacelord200, I´m not quite sure, what you mean with 1500 resource colonies, but as a precaution: Civ 3 is limited to 256 different resources.

I can use 31 players on any one map but with 10 maps I can have 310 different players .

Could you please give more details, what you mean with 10 maps and 310 different players ? Do you mean 10 maps in 10 different games?

take a really mega huge space map and break it down into 128 (16 wide by 8 long) different sector maps\scenario aka .biq files . in other words you got 128 different scenarios covering one sector of space with up to 31 players for every sector\scenario . with up to 512 solar systems\citys with the other low population solar systems represented by resource colonies and terrain improvements .
the whole playing map would cover a board 4096 grid squares by 2560 grid squares with each BIQ. file and scenario only covering one sector 256 grid squares by 320 grid squares and up to 31 players and 512 citys . but all 128 BIQ. files and sectors could have as many as 3968 players and 65536 solar systems\citys plus what ever resource colonies and air bases and fortifications are on each sector BIQ file

I will be using the Space Wars and Star Trek civ 3 mods for the sector BIQ. files then a few of the major planets like earth , corscant , alpha centauri , will be covered by a seporate BIQ files using the fallout , MOM , pentagenesis , LOTR planet terrain features with different units and luxury and strategic resources

shush!!! its a secrete till I get the first sector or BIQ file completed but I call it GURPS CIV 3 . so far I have started on subsector A of sector 0-0 . each BIQ scenarios will have 16 subsectors (just a reference no real meaning to playing the BIQ ) just its easier to place the terrain of a small part sub sector of the entire 256x320 sector biq file

right now i'm working on the Pedialcons for the spectorial class of the star in each solar system\city , I have O (blue), B (blue\white) , A (white) , F (yellow\white) , G (yellow) ,K (orange) , M (red), L(Red and brown dwarfs ) . each star is a habitual terrain (representing inhabiting the whole solar system) will a Null strategic resource so a resource colony and air field \ fortification can be placed there

another question , the folder star trek\art\civilopedia\icons\terrain and file StarLarge.pcx , StarSmall.pcx will work perfectly for 5 of the eight spectorial class I use for star terrain the , blue, white , yellow , red , orange , but they are random , how do you pick between the different color stars . civ 3 edit is randomly pick color of terrain

I may have answered my own question using a similar BIQ as the star trek mod , the space wars they use resource RED , yellow , blue and orange . so I solved my own question the terrain is star the resource is blue , blue\white , white , yelow\white , yellow , orange , red , and brown dwarf

it took all Day but I have finely learned how to use windows 3.1 paint brush to edit the resource.pcx file and now have 8 different colored stars for the star system\city image . I have a generic star for the image of the city with 8 different strategic resources that change the color of the star from blue to brown dwarf and allows you to place citys , colonys and worker improvements, I am moving along I shall have the terrain and resources for the pedialcon.txt and Civilopedia.txt files done and begin on the BIQ file for sector 0-0 soon.

This all sounds very ambitious and remembers me to my old space mod, that I did long ago with Civ 2 ToT:
Spoiler :

"Captain, sensors reading a battlewaggon coming out of hyperspace behind us."

"Relax ensign, this is a battlestar of the Lost Colonies, they are on our side. At least they were, when we contacted them the last time. Close up the Enterprise to firing range against the Kilrathi Ralari"

"What´s that - fireballs coming out from the Kilrathi ship!"
"Th - that was the Excelsior, captain"

"My god, the cats have plasma weapons - and behind us a bioterminator is on his devastating way to Sagitaria. Full speed ahead to the whormhole back to our galaxy."

(Reminiscence to CGW "Hanging from Orion´s Belt")

What still is unclear to me is, how will you combine the 128 different biqs to be a single game? In my old space mod I only combined two different maps to be the galaxies Milky Way and Andromeda, but Civ 2 ToT has the special feature, that different maps can be combined in a single game, but C3C doesn´t have such a feature.

Btw.: Please don´t forget to add the Cylons and the Lost Colonies (Battlestar Galactica), as Civ 3 has some nice units for them (Cylon Raiders, Centurions and a battlestar).

when you play the CIV3 multi player hot seat you play one player turn at a time then move on to the next player turn and so on till all the players in that sector (BIQ scenario) have moved then move onto the next sector(BIQ scenario) and so on till all 128 sectors (BIQ senarios) have progressed one turn then repeat the process . I know its a slow process but with hundreds of citys and thousands of units each player turn should keep you bitting your nails . by the way I have placed all the solar systems for sector 0-0 subsector A . I am now working on adding the planets(terrain) around each solar system(city) .

Spacelord200, I must confess, that I still haven´t understood that concept. At the end you will have 128 results for 128 different games, but I don´t see the connection between these 128 games. I still don´t see the possibility of a transfer between those 128 games.

No City Limit mod only lets you build more cities after the limit 512 is reached. Even if AI players have settlers they are not going to build new cities or if they don't they won't produce settlers at all.
