I would hope more for Nationalism than Steam Power, which is impossible to get by means other than researching due to the AI's extreme overpricing of it. The only way is to pay Steam Power+Medicine, or one of those techs and a lot of money.

@Shakes: We want all of our cities to be size 20+, not just one. Research Sanitation.

Plus, Shakes doesn't give the "allows cities to grow above size 12" bonus in Vanilla or PTW.

@Transcontinental assualt: Perhaps you should just use MPP's to get everyone one that continent at war with each other. AI's are not well known for amphibious invasions, and being at war with one or two of them won't hurt you.

BTW, if you looked at some of the screenies from Overseer's last post, you would have noticed an Iroqouis city becoming American, meaning they might be at war. Establish an embassy with one of them and see. For that matter, it would be useful to establish an embassy with all of them at some point in the future.

Are you SURE that's not a mistype? No AI is dumb enough to attack a Sipahi with a spearman. Plus, that would give us a Golden Age!

For ease of conquest, a fractured continent is much better. I think Germany or England should be our next opponent, with Military Alliances's with the other smaller countries. One point: Do not get the Americans involved. A war over there with them involved just makes them stronger. We want to pick off one of the little guys first, then we dogpile America (biastards stole our furs!) We need a fur colony up in former Arab territory ASAP, so kill them quick and get some furs. As soon as the Arabs are done, Declare on England or Germany, then trade to get a dogpile going (Aztecs, Iroquois and the one we don't declare on). By all means, build about 4 galleons, 2 veteran, 2 regular and about 6 frigates(all veterans) to escort. Then we start shuttling troops over. I think with Sipahis we can roll over all the small countries. For America, we might need tanks, but I hope not.

The Iroquois are at worst a nuisance, at best may be a long term source of war happiness. OTOH, America is a different kettle of fish. Let us shift directions and begin the dogpile now. See what we can trade to get our "friends" Germany, England and the Aztecs involved. The barbs mean that 2 more tribes changed eras. Get as many slaves to safety ASAP, and get some Sipahis on Barb patrol. Also remember the NW-SE barb axis, they rarely attack anything in other directions.
 
The OCC Iros will not very likely be a long-time source of war happiness, as they will just get killed by America sooner or later.

America must have been one of the other guys in the IA, judging from their look.
 
No, the Iroquois aren't gonna be hit by America unless Germany and Aztecland dogpile. I think the Iroquois are just a source of WH :).

Alright, done. I built a decent fleet, filled 'em up with Sipahis, and sent them over to America. There weren't many battles, except for barbs, so I didn't keep record of wins, and didn't mention the barb battles (I didn't lose anybody). I messed up at the end, and sent 18 sipahis to a really weak city, and 8 to a strong one :blush: , but they're close by, and whoever's next shouldn't lose too many fighting turns to it.

Spoiler Turnset :

Turn 0- 750 AD- Steel, I think you saved before you finished doing the turn, I had to attack the horse and the longbowman again. Build Embassies with Germany, England, and Aztecs. None of them have saltpeter, Aztecs don't have Iron. Kill longbowman with MI, get settler. Kill horse with vSip. Give Bismarck Chem for war, give Lizzie Wines and Spices for war, give Monte Iron for war. A lot of barb killing.
IBT- A lot of barbs dye on Sipahi bullets and Knight blades.
Turn 1- 760 AD- Iznik Galleon->Galleon. MM for growth. Uskudar Hospital->Sipahi. Palace expands. Kill a buncha barbs. A frigate bombards, then another kills American caravel.
IBT- More barbs suicide.
Turn 2- 770 AD- Istanbul Hospital->Rifle. Edrine Sipahi->Sipahi. Bursa Hospital->Battlefield Medicine. Pollution strikes Iznik. Borders expand, making fur colony unneeded. More barbs die.

Well, Germany's screwed. So are the Iros. England and Aztecs are slightly less screwed, due to having cities on our continent, but still, screwed. We may have underestimated America's strength...
 
The americans are helping us in a way, if it ends up us and them with a few weak allies on our continent, we just send an overwhelming group at any city of theirs. Since we raze anyway, theres no need to assimilate. We can keep a city until the end of the turn so abandon, not raze. Do we really need any more slaves?
 
Hmm... this is gonna be interesting :) if we just focus on Linc then when we're done with him, other civs would be weak by that time. lol :) pwnage
