    Welcome to the 111th game in the 6OTM Series! These games will allow new and old GOTM fans to try out the new features in Civ6 in a friendly environment. Participants are encouraged to post questions, stories, advice, tricks and failures in the dedicated game threads (described below). Each game will specify the Civ you will play and the Victory Condition to strive for. We will be working to refine the 6otM concept as we move ahead with the series. Gifting of cities is an exploit in a religious VC as the AI cant see that it will lose if it accepts the cities.

    Alexander's Leader Bonus: To the World's End - Macedonian cities never incur war weariness. All military units heal completely when a city with a Wonder is captured. Gain the Hetairoi unique unit with Horseback Riding.

    Unique Ability: Hellenistic Fusion - Conquering a city grants a free Eureka for each Encampment and Campus district in the conquered city and a free Inspiration for each Holy Site and Theater Square district.

    Unique Infrastructure: Basilikoi Paides - Replaces Barracks. Unlocked by Bronze Working.
    Effects: +1 Production; +1 Housing; +1 Citizen slot; +1 Great General point per turn; +25% combat experience for all melee, ranged, anti-cavalry, siege units and Hetairoi trained in this city; Gain Science equal to 25% of the unit's cost when a non-civilian unit is created in this city; Strategic Resource stockpiles increased by 10
    Restrictions: Cannot be built if Stable has already been built in this district

    Unique Unit:
    Hetairoi - Replaces Horseman. Unlocked by Horseback Riding.
    Common abilities: Ignores enemy zone of control.
    Special abilities: +5 additional Combat Strength when adjacent to a Great General; +5 Great General points from kills; Starts with a free Promotion.
    Special traits: Higher Production cost (100 vs. 80).

    Unique Unit: Hypaspist - Replaces Swordsman, Unlocked by Iron Working
    Replaces: Swordsman, Unlocked by Iron Working
    Common abilities: +5 Combat Strength vs. anti-cavalry units.
    Special abilities: +5 Combat Strength when besieging a District.
    Special traits: Increased support bonus (3 vs. 2); Higher Combat Strength (38 vs. 35); Higher Production cost (100 vs. 90).

    Unique Unit upgrading cost hints:
    ( ) – upgrade cost; [ ] – build cost; P-Production, I-Iron, H-Horses, g-gold
    Warrior [40 P] -> (130 g, 5 I) -> Hypaspist [100 P, 5 I] -> (130 g, no I ;)) -> Man-At-Arms [160 P, 20 I]
    Warrior [40 P] -> (250 g, 20 I) -> Man-At-Arms [160 P, 20 I]
    Note: After discovering Apprenticeship, Warriors cannot be upgraded to Hypaspist, only Man-At-Arms for a much higher (20 vs 5) iron cost, so may want to upgrade Warriors -> Hypaspist before you discover Apprenticeship
    Note: If you’ve discovered Apprenticeship, but have 5<=Iron<20, you can still build Hypaspist and upgrade them to Man-At-Arms, saving some production and iron, but spending gold
    Hetairoi [100 P, 10 H] -> (250 g, 20 I) -> Knight [220 P, 20 I]
    Note: Even though you already spent 10 horses, it still takes 20 Iron to upgrade Hetairoi to Knights :sad:

    Great! I think.

    I'm unclear on how a conquest victory differs from a domination victory?

    Also, I always feel like I don't know what I'm doing with Heroes & Legends... any advice how best to use them in this set-up?

    This felt like a conquest quote, "Turn away from peace, for there is no way to establish your legacy but from conquering vast lands."

    Probably lots of ways depending upon what you get as options. One of my favorites for this setup is Hunahpu & Xbalanque early in the game due to ability to take over barbarians to your side. With Zombie Defense as the only other game mode that seems even more valuable to me, though others may have much better ideas. Zombies don't regain health when resurrected, but all the others do. After sending my initial warrior and a scout to discover the world, with a small early build of an additional warrior, slinger (to get eureka and upgrade), and Hunahpu & Xbalanque, I usually don't need to build any other early land military as H&X will get me all I need by resurrecting them so I can concentrate on building other things (i.e. new cities, campuses, etc.).

    Edit: Zombies will regain health over time the same as other units, but when H&X 'captures' a normal unit the unit is restored to full health, where zombies are not.

    Am not a great fan of the zombies, but this looks like a fun setup. Might finally join a GOTM again this time.

    I think settle in place. That gives a good industrial zone spot on the copper, aqueduct on the stone, and a good campus or holy site next to the mountains. There's an ok harbor next to the cap. Encampment on the grassland hill to the east. I think I would prioritize the camps/holy site and encampment placements.
