- How did the leader bonus and civ unique ability impact your plan/play, if at all?
- How many cities did you settle and/or capture? Where did you settle your first few cities?
- What were key production/purchase focuses?
Military units / Civilian units / Districts & city development / Wonders / Civ Unique Unit & Infrastructure? Most critical or interesting?

- Any surprises/frustration/elations you ran into, how did you deal with it?
- Did you enjoy your game?

Please use spoiler tags for any surprise details you'd like kept hidden. Thanks.

If this is a replay, please indicate 'REPLAY' at the top of your post. If you conduct regular restarts, please indicate 'RELOADS' at the top of your post. More posting helps us all get play better as we understand the methods of others, but want to clearly distinguish between a first run through without reloads and other submissions as it is much harder to recover in game from the mistakes we all make.

CV T230
Ludwig has not bonus towards religion and I wanted to play with his U-boot (on an archipelago map it would
actually be a useful unit), so I decided to go for domination victory.
I started conquest once I got frigates, but won a CV by accident, just before taking the fourth capital. Same
problem here: too much tourism from monopolies! (+405% tourism from just 3 monopolies - that seems
massively overpowered?)
Lots of wonders under construction will remain unfinished :D
But, was a fun game, thanks!!!

DV T246
Could have finisied many turns earlier, but I HAD TO conquer all of their cities. In fact one city survived as I made peace with Sweden - stupid! :)
I couldn't decide if I want to go for domination or religious in the beginning. I then thought it would be a fun crusade game and it was.
I had a military alliance with england in the beginning and took out the netherlands first. Then i attacked two at the same time which was not the fastest way but made a lot of fun.
Once I had taken out two civs it was much easier as my science ramped up.
Thanks for the game!

RV turn 136. Peaceful

Pretty cool game to go religious with Ludwig on an Archipelago. Never would’ve tried that otherwise.

I moved W at the start leaving the starting tile for a Hansa and getting closer to those foxes. Went scout settler and sent them S to get my second city a good HS on the other side of those mountains. Researched HS early to get those districts built. Got a relatively early pantheon to snag fishing boats and then the second religion, taking work ethic and holy order. Filled it out later with pilgrimage and mosques for an efficiency-focused build.

But the real key was ripping culture between Ludwig cheese and Nan Madol suz. On T86 I was able to drop in Serfdom as I completed ancestral hall then place two cities. A few turns later I completed a 7 city Colosseum. I waited until ~T100 for Theocracy, then started churning out cheap apostles with three extra charges from mosque + golden age. Eliminated the other religions by ~T120 then completed the mop up action.

==Still playing haven't read any of the rest of the thread==
I settled one tile west to be nearer to the fur and about 10 turns in Mt Vesuivius erupts scattering food production, lots of culture and a little science everywhere which gave me a massive headstart for my Capital and for my Stonehenge City on the otherside of the volcano. I might have a chance to win my *first* diety game with that headstart. Stonehenge - t49 and Political Philosophy - t50 which seems nuts. And a classical era golden age I don't know what to do with; only two cities and two incompete holy sites. But crazy culture per turn and also two galleys out exploring and I expect to sell a ton of luxuries to try and catch the AI. I chose Earth goddess for passive faith, Warrior Monks and the Science/4 believers one. Never ever used Warrior Monks more than just going - oh these things suck. I've been playing previous GOTMs for just about 6 months but I've never finished one.
I have a problem finishing things. :) Hopefully I'll be back at the end of this with a save, read the the rest of the thread then.

Turn 243 RV, Score = 1739.

I think I was having a bit too much fun building wonders. :) I played a peaceful game, but never really focused on faith generation, so it wasn't until the last 20 or so turns when my religious unit production really started taking off. Fun game though!

RV T120, 6-city peaceful single-warrior trek

It's been a long time playing civ, definitely rusty and noobish about Civ 6 mechanics. I did manage to focus on faith and religion, overfeed on AI gold, but dropped the ball on just about everything else: anemic worker building and chopping, pointlessly leveled up Moshka, and inefficiently drove the huge missionary and apostle fleet around - it took me ~25 turns just to proselytize the one true religion.

But the power of the island uber-strong start, work ethics, holy order, pilgrimage, mosque, Jebel Barkal and Mahabodhi temple eventually prevailed.

I played through this without looking at this thread for tips and ended up with a T 264 religious victory.

My first ever win on Deity in the franchise, I built up a pretty big empire (24 cities by the end of the game) to play it safe and try to handle different options for the win con.

I think I also did a poor job prosecuting the RV, having to double tap Hungary as I did not fully eliminate their religion, and starting the religious crusade later than many here meant a lot more cities to convert.

Had a lot of fun and it was a great game! Looking forward to the next one!
