Welcome to the 6otM202 After Actions Report (AAR) thread.

STOP - Please do not continue reading this thread until you have completed and submitted your game.

In this thread you can post the results of your game. Please state your victory/loss turn/date (preferably in the post title) and describe your path to glory in this post! Please attach your victory save to your post. Players are encouraged to provide feedback on the game. Please use spoiler tags for any surprise details you'd like kept hidden. Thank you.

If this is a replay, please indicate 'REPLAY' at the top of your post. If you conduct regular restarts, please indicate 'RELOADS' at the top of your post. More posting helps us all get play better as we understand the methods of others, but want to clearly distinguish between a first run through without reloads and other submissions as it is much harder to recover in game from the mistakes we all make.

Some questions to consider answering.
- What was your general game plan?
- What was your starting build order?
- What was your biggest surprise in this game?
- Did you enjoy the settings of this map?

From my feeling a very late victory although I can't really tell why...
Science was not really the issue but it took a while until I got my culture up. I went later on to war with Portugal and took some cities of them. The land was very cramped I guess this was the reason why I came online so late.
Anyhow I was not really in risk to lose the game. Fun setup.

SV200 Score 1428

I liked that natural disasters were set to 0. 😊

I don’t normally continue playing when I’m boxed in (i.e. surrounded by City States and Civs). But I persisted and found this to be quite an enjoyable game. Having numerous geothermal fissures close by to get strong SC and Madrasa yields helped a lot too.

Initial strategy was to get 3 cities with strong SC and HS in ancient era. I then decided to build up military to take out Portugal in classical era with Mamluks. Russia declared war and took over Wolin during this time, so I used world congress to go to war against Russia. End up keeping Wolin due to the number of woods in their boundary I could use later for chopping, but as a result had waring with Russia and America throughout medieval and renaissance eras.

Thanks for the game. I’ll give GOTM201 ago next week.

Enjoyable game, never used this much faith in a Scientific game. Being boxed in was not a problem due to the massive mountain ranges. Wolin was crucial for me too, that was the reason I expanded into Russian and American territories. First Portugal had to be dealt with though. The others were friends all the way, so lots of trading and money as usual. The sword shaped extra land I managed to settle throughout, that was a good source of luxes and other stuff. Thanks for the game!

SV T169 (Early replay/Game creator advantage)

Standard initial build order: Scout, scout, settler, settler
In religious games it is very important to get a golden age in the first era. Exploration (scouts) is usually best way to do this.
Scouts also help disrupting barbarian scouts which is also one of the top priorities early.

I managed to get +1 faith from rainforest as Pantheon. I used it to build holy sites in every city I founded and grabbed work ethics as my beleif.
I also managed to build a 10 city Colosseum (9 of my own and then conquered a city state for the 10:th one). This is my strongest Colosseum ever and in my opinion the strongest "gettable" wonder in the game (Pyramides are stronger but AI builds it too quickly).

I used joint wars a lot to steal gold and Resources from AI and pillaged quite a lot. I grabbed 5 cities from America. 4 Cities at first as they had good districts, wonders and tiles and a fifth later because it had 2 oil tiles.
I razed the rest of the cities I conquered to ensure max amenities in all cities.

Moksha was key with my Heavy faith generation to buy space ports in the end. I also used a lot of faith to buy military that I used to invade America and Russa (Russia was a pure pillage war).
This is my quickest science finish ever using no game-modes and I can't see I did any bigger mistakes.

As I am the game creator of this map I have some knowledge of the map when startnig to play. I do beleive an actual replay is a bigger advantage though but the advantages I get is similar to making an early replay.

How did you grow Cairo to 10 Pop by turn 82? I'm really not good at fast city growth. Did you chop settlers out of cairo?

Golden age -> I bought settlers with faith in other cities so never lost pop in cap apart from the initial 2-3 settlers (can't remember if I built 2 or 3 in cap).
5 amenities -> +20% growth
Water mill (1 food) + rice square (6 food)
Granary (1food) + Gurdwara (religious building) 2 food
I think I chopped one jungle to build a district most likely, not mainly to grow pop.

I attached a save from turn 80 if it helps you.
