Welcome to the 6otM203 After Actions Report (AAR) thread.

STOP - Please do not continue reading this thread until you have completed and submitted your game.

In this thread you can post the results of your game. Please state your victory/loss turn/date (preferably in the post title) and describe your path to glory in this post! Please attach your victory save to your post. Players are encouraged to provide feedback on the game. Please use spoiler tags for any surprise details you'd like kept hidden. Thank you.

If this is a replay, please indicate 'REPLAY' at the top of your post. If you conduct regular restarts, please indicate 'RELOADS' at the top of your post. More posting helps us all get play better as we understand the methods of others, but want to clearly distinguish between a first run through without reloads and other submissions as it is much harder to recover in game from the mistakes we all make.

Some questions to consider answering.
- What was your general game plan?
- What was your starting build order?
- What was your biggest surprise in this game?
- Did you enjoy the settings of this map?

Turn 210(1490.) domination victory, score 1577. I focused on science and production. I also made many Royal drydocks. I think I started conquest at turn 172. Artillery armies, general, observation balloon and supply convoy made my movement and conquest faster during last turns.

'REPLAY' and 'RELOADS'
I totally destroyed my run, when i wanted to look at the tech tree in a new Victoria game, overwriting my running auto-save. No backup no sorry.

So i used the setting for learning and managed T204, but i knew a lot due to the replay. I was hard pressed with balancing the options.

Spoiler Game Details: :

So for my first attempted i tried to go for a ancestral hall/harbor/commercial hub city spam approach. I read on fandom that i would get a new melee unit every time, but that was just for vanilla.
I tried to use caravels and levied CS to start against greece. But the terrain to the north was bad, loyality pressure from sparta was too much to hold the coastal city. I though that i could cheese the coast with an ironclad fleet from the Great Admirals,
not knowing that repair for that would be impossible. I've then made the backup mistake mentioned above.

Since i was unhappy with my tech levels i retried the game then with a higher focus on science and culture with some wonders mixed in (oracle). But i mistimed my wonders and was even slower in techs.

I was happy then to look at Jovans succesful attempt from above to learn more. How did you get the Chichen Itza done, though eludes me. When i was getting the civic it was already built by Portugal.

GS Charles Darwin got me 2000 Science which boosted me a lot into the close together key techs for Dom Vic (Battleships, Steel and Flight). But my attack started already with Frigate Fleet and Armada (from Great Admirals).

Frigate are a better choice for fleets than the Sea Dog, since that doesn't have a good Upgrade (if any - unsure). When those turned into Battle Ships they finished Germany, Greece and Inca with ease. The Khmer i started with since i thought them to be in easy reach.
I attacked the Inca because my nitre was running low and i wanted to secure 2 mines right away. On the Khmer i had a formal war, on everyone else a GA one. I think the formal war hurt a bit with Grievances, but then again: i pillaged a lot and bought a lot close to the front.

So this entry is not for competition at all, just to show my appreciations for 6otm! Thanks to all of you for keeping it going!

DV T217
Obviously I forgot to take a final save file of T217:crazyeye:. But I fortunately have the save of T216 just before taking Munich as last capital. I really enjoyed the tech shuffle.
My navy did a good job before taking out the last cities of germany with land units.

DV T161 (replay)

I was going for an early caravell rush but I was stuck getting into the Greece mainland. They held me off for like 15 turns until I got frigates and rolled them over. I used redcoats quite a lot together with a siege tower. Buying a man at arms with faith and then upgrading it to a redcloak once per turn was my main attacking force. My ships conquered quite a bit of cities as well but was mostly used to get a foothold for buying troops with faith/gold in the end.
Most funny thing was that Inca was ahead of me and got battleships while I had sea dogs and caravells, but I managed to kill off their battleships and even steal one of them with my sea dogs.

This is a replay and I made an initial attempt but I got bored with it due to too many units and micromanaging, but I honestly think that my initial attempt might have been quicker. I will try to avoid micromanaging map setups in future domination games but the question is how to do that, but I will try out some different things and we'll see how it turns out.

Very impressive. At 161 I am just starting to conquer.. Could you please attach you save? So far you attached only initial save.

Ah sorry, I mixed up the files. I have attached the correct file now.
Basically I was playing a short term science game initially until I got caravell and then I started warring. Key is hoarding a lot of gold and faith to be able to buy units in the border cities and then use that to buy units close to the front instead of producing them far away. I also warred in 2 directions at the same time to speed up my conquering but that requires a lot of units and initially I needed to produce them.
