Welcome to the 6otM204 After Actions Report (AAR) thread.

STOP - Please do not continue reading this thread until you have completed and submitted your game.

In this thread you can post the results of your game. Please state your victory/loss turn/date (preferably in the post title) and describe your path to glory in this post! Please attach your victory save to your post. Players are encouraged to provide feedback on the game. Please use spoiler tags for any surprise details you'd like kept hidden. Thank you.

If this is a replay, please indicate 'REPLAY' at the top of your post. If you conduct regular restarts, please indicate 'RELOADS' at the top of your post. More posting helps us all get play better as we understand the methods of others, but want to clearly distinguish between a first run through without reloads and other submissions as it is much harder to recover in game from the mistakes we all make.

Some questions to consider answering.
- What was your general game plan?
- What was your starting build order?
- What was your biggest surprise in this game?
- Did you enjoy the settings of this map?

This one was a challenge, but mainly due to one CIV getting completely away from me and no monopolies.

Pantheon Chosen – goddess of festivals (culture to plantations). Helped a little with Tourism and early culture.

Religion Chosen – Reliquaries. Founded my religion quite late. After founding it mid game I tried to build St Basils in a city that already had Apadana, Mont Saint Michel and Bank with 2 slots. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen (build by

)... May have sped the victory up if it had.

I don’t think I was very efficient or effective this game. In hindsight I should have paid more attention to the tips provided on the announcement page. I didn’t get to build Oracle, Kilwa, Big Ben, Oxford, Potala or Ruhr Valley.

Spoiler :

I played mostly peaceful. Except for 2 early cities which I took from France, I had a few Legions and wanted to see how efficient they could be. Due to the mountains, a single Legion in a fort held back any feeble attempt to retaliate. Except for that war, I had alliances for bulk of the game.

Late game Kongo at one stage were putting out 700+ culture per turn. I ended up having to build Biosphere and spam solar/wind farms to get ahead of their domestic tourism.

Got very lucky during the game getting Sarah Breedlove (25% tourism to other Civs with trade route), that coupled with alliances and ‘online communities’ policy card (50% tourism to other Civs with trade route) helped heaps.

Thanks for the scenario - very different – I enjoyed it! Thinking about trying something similar for fun with an aim of doing the same reliquaries play that I tried... but this time building St Basils in time! And also having that same city with Natural History Museum in the Government Plaza. Which in theory would give 14 slots for relics boosted!

I can see you really had one runaway civ. You should probably have declared war on him and you would have shawed off some turns from your victory. Otherwise good job in finishing this game. It was designed to be a fight against the AI culture and it seems like not many others managed to finish the game. ;)

CV T215 (early replay/game creator knowledge)

I was planning for a normal science game with the goal of building Biosphere and using it for victory and that was what I went for.
I think I misplaced my capital and I should probably have moved it left and built it on a more production heavy area as the start was real slow.
I only had 2 cities Before ancestral hall and at the time it hit france declared war on me. I had to defend her and captured one of her cities. She later used an emergecy to declare war on me again and once more after that so I captured a total of 4 of her cities and brought her down to 2 cities to ensure she was alive. Peacful game after that and I expanded heavily in the end stage to get more space to continue building solar farms and wind panels.

I think I broke my record in tourism per turn, but I will try to avoid long drawn out culture games in the futue. Interesting game to use the biosphere victory as I have never done that before.

First of all thanks a lot for continuing the CIV6 GOTM!

Game strategy was to gain tourism through relicts, parks and rock bands.
Steps:
- scout for city spots that can have good preserves
- build preserves and expand
- breathtaking areas around the preserve
- buy groves for food and culture
- pantheon earth goddess gives 3 faith for breathtaking spots
- religion: Pantheon Earth goddess. Beliefs: reliquaries and holy order to maximize number of relicts
- ages: dark followed by heroic. allowed expansion in the second age and fast apostles to create many relicts with Mont St. Michel
- districts: Preserve, Holy Site with temple for relicts, theater square to store culture items that I bought from the player with the most culture, commercial hubs to have a trade route to each other player to maximize tourism
- suppress other religions to get around the tourism penalty for other religion
- build late game cities to have a trade route to every player to get the tourism bonus
- build national parks in the preserves
- build Cristo Redentor to get around the Enlightenment penalty
- I did not build a single campus

Things I should have done better:
- I should have started early wars for a gold push or to steal a builder
- I should have pushed for Cristo Redentor instead of national parks
- I should not have built sanctuaries since they are expensive and had no effect on the game
- I should have bought the relicts, books and paintings of the strongest culture producer much earlier and sold them to laggers, if slots were full to slow the strongest

It was a fun game!!!
Thanks a lot!!!!

Late culture t255 (turn after win screen), basically so many thing I did wrong :D It is hard to play for good dates with weeks / months of breaks :D

Maybe the only good thing I did was to settle on lake on fruits. With no early city states and so few civs I saw no chance for pantheon, so I had to run that useless otherwise card for +1 faith, but I really wanted pantheon early - goddes of hunt of course. Barbs came, so I had to build many defence at 2 cities only, meantime I wanted Artemis ASAP. 2nd city instead of Gov Plaza went straight for HS + Entertainment and Coloseum, Gov Plaza was built in 4th city, but at least I had early culture complex of 2 theatres + entertainment + 2 wonders as a backbone of my culture for great majority of the game.

BTW - how NOT to play Rome ----> at turn 100 have 4 cities, 5th in 1 or 2 turns :) complete waste of unique ability. I submit t100 save too if someone wants to make some laugh. I somehow decided that going for early Apadana instead of settlers and instead of gov plaza in capital would be a great idea.
My first districts (Artemis >inspiration boost) were theatres followed by 2HSites and Entertainment, I got a religion and I took every yields from cities with wonder + relics tourism, as I found a late one.
Later I did some limited eexpansion and some wonders, lost free apostles, lost free martyr, lost BigBen basically lost most of anything I wanted :P, 4 of my 5 core cities was totally destroyed during 4 turns by 2 megaultimatecatastrophic eruptions and hurricane (including Rome of course, because why not)
Even though I had the first great writer (omg, first time in my career!), I even managed to faithbuy archeologists, had all owned theatres themed, I simply had too few theatre squares / cities, and the only option for me (as I am never able to win from theatres squares only) was to prepare the usual ultimate enemy culture killing city of mass tourism destruction

Spoiler :

About 1750 tourism from 5 golden gate national parks and 2 christo redentor resorts + reyna + boosted by Eiffel and appeal engineer (tourism lense gives numbers already multiplied by computers / environmentalism etc). I don't know why people underrate GGB so much, I basically never have problems with finding a good city for it.
Few turns before the end, I entered atomic era, so doubled (? - i don't know how Bridge + age dedictation work together - multiplicatively?)), anyway I was earning sth between 20-30 tourist per turn

Beside Arretium 7 more national parks in empire
