Welcome to the 6otM 28 Opening Actions thread.
STOP - Please do not continue reading this thread until you have completed at least 80 to 100 turns in your game.
This thread is used to discuss the game once you've started playing through your first 100 turns. Apart from normal decency, the only posting restrictions are to please not post videos until the deadline is finished and to use the spoiler tags for screenshots. Here you can post questions related to the game and share your achievements/anger/frustration/victories while you play. Please remember that we are running a family friendly site, so express anger or frustration with this in mind. :)
Please use this thread to discuss your goals for the game and your opening moves through the first 100 turns. Anything after that should be posted in the After Actions thread once you have completed your game.
- Where did you settle your city?
- What did you research and which policies did you choose and why?
- What was your build order?
- How soon did you build a District? Which ones did you prioritize?
- How did you place your districts?
- Did you emphasize expansion? How many cities have you built/captured in the first 100 turns?
- How did you play your governance cards, priorities?
- What City-States did you meet and which ones did you cultivate to your side?
- Were your neighbors peaceful?
- How were the Barbarians?

Please use spoiler tags for any surprise details you'd like kept hidden. Thanks.

This will be my first game in nearly a year. I got an email that said a expansion was out, but I guess it's not ready yet. So I updated the game and went in mostly just to get a sense of what might have changed if the expansion looks good.

Settled in place and struggled with the lack of production. Picked the belief for the quarry bonus and founded a religion with a prophet rather than stonehenge and took the same religious pressure ones I used to take (Jesuit/Scripture) with an eye toward Mosque later.

Wasn't just in love with city locations really anywhere and spread out pretty far with I think 5 cities at T90 or so, none of them look to be powerhouses at all. Going to be a slog.

Barbs are still barbs. They did some damage to USA. Nothing to bad to me so far, and fog is all clear so that's done.

Will see how it goes. Still quite a bit rusty on all this.

It's turn 97 and things have been mostly favorable to us.
Although, we experienced heavy barb activity early on.
God damn barbs! They even pillaged the holy site.

The opening moves were
1. Settle in place (it has a very good production or chopping potential)
2. Start with a builder+settler
3. build holy sites into both cities
2+3 => barbs pillage holy site, because warrior forgot his duty, which is to dance near capital.
4. build smallish army: 3 x slingers + 2 x barbs
5. Acquire horses -> conquer Jerusalem
6. Build/chop 3 x Horsemen -> eliminate Teddy, fast

Surprisingly, no-one seems to go for religion, expect Spain.
Will deal with the heretic Spain once I have my longships re-grouped and upgraded to caravels.
(God knows where they are sailing with 'auto explore')
Or maybe I just should send 3-4 apostoles?

In 3 turns I will switch the government to theocray.
It will almost double the faith and culture output (thought culture is of a little use after theocracy).
After that the boring part begins: spamming missionaries/apostoles...

Spoiler Howdy Toronto! :

It's bean nearly 100T and you still haven't figured out where to settle...
