Welcome to the 6otM 68 Opening Actions thread.
STOP - Please do not continue reading this thread until you have completed at least 80 to 100 turns in your game.
This thread is used to discuss the game once you've started playing through your first 100 turns. Apart from normal decency, the only posting restrictions are to please not post videos until the deadline is finished and to use the spoiler tags for screenshots. Here you can post questions related to the game and share your achievements/anger/frustration/victories while you play. Please remember that we are running a family friendly site, so express anger or frustration with this in mind. :)
Please use this thread to discuss your goals for the game and your opening moves through the first 100 turns. Anything after that should be posted in the After Actions thread once you have completed your game.

- Where did you settle your cities?
Settled in place for the extra production. Went west for exploration and found a myriad of city states and free envoys. The early culture helped me get to Drama and Poetry early for really good adjacency bonus. Founded 4 core cities and one tundra city NorthWest for future boni.

- What did you research and which policies did you choose and why?
No good adjacency bonus for my districts so I ignored Campi and holy sites early on. Looking back, a religion would have been good for Mahabodhi temple. Started pottery to grab the Great Bath (Im used to playing with higher disaster intensity, not a single flood was prevented this game), but the early wonder helped a lot with Theater output.

- What was your build order?
Scout > Great Bath > Settler

- How soon did you build a District? Which ones did you prioritize?
Beelined Drama and poetry for Theaters and clustered them around the Great Bath and Government Plaza. No good first-tier Government buildings as amenities were plantiful and Great Bath took care of Stockholm housing.

- How did you place your districts?
Created a core in the center of my 4 cities. Built Apadana as I was ready to WonderWhore. Now I am 6 turns away from the Colosseum to make sure amenities are taken care of and for another cultural boost

- Did you emphasize expansion? How many cities have you built/captured in the first 100 turns?
Not really, was hoping for a monumentality golden age but very little faith output (Was hoping Great Bath would help with this). Built 4 core cities and a fifth one just to tick the Tundra box for open air museums.

- How did you play your governance cards, priorities?
Got to +100% Theater adjacency as fast as I could. Slotted +2 Prophet points per turn in the end as nobody was founding the last religion but decided against it after some consideration.

- What City-States did you meet and which ones did you cultivate to your side?
Got a lot of free envoys to kick off the game. Brought 2 cultural city states to suzerain for the extra culture. Wish I would have realized earlier the crazy combination of Uluru, Granada's Alcanzar and Nazca Lines, as Abo became pretty nasty after a couple turns when I chopped Petra

- Were your neighbors peaceful?

So far no worries. Researching Stirrups because Zulu beat me to the coastal city south with the turtles

- Any surprises?

- How did you avoid Culture victory?

Havent really thought much about it, but it does look dim as GWAM generation is sky rocketing, I uess I may end up selling some Artwork? Wonder how smart of an idea it is.
