    - How long did you search for a site for your first city? What criteria did you use? Where did you settle your capital city? Your second city?
Settled right on the spot where the settler spawned. The tile was a grassland hills tile which is useful.
Second city was slightly southwards to get a decent holy site and a +4/5 campus.
The next few cities were closer to the coast so as to build useful coastal wonders like Kilwa, Mausoleum (which was unfortunately not in the game) etc.

    - Did you make a plan for achieving a Science VC, what are the major steps you planned to take?
Plan was to settle many cities with good campus locations
get a religion (so it is easier to control CS)
have a few core cities with robust industrial zones
tried to go for golden age to abuse monumentality but was unable to do so

    - What did you research and which policies did you choose and why?
Rushed Astrology without inspiration to get an early religion.
Was the first to meet a few cultural CS, so had high culture early and kinda rushed for early government plaza
Chose God King to get quick Pantheon.

    - What was your build order?
double scouts to get early bonus from city states followed by a settler

    - Which Pantheon did you select and why? Did you get a Great Prophet?
City Patron Goddess to get early districts running. Yes

    - How long did it take to find your neighbors? Were they hostile or friendly?
Met neighbours fairly quickly. Germany and Sumer were friendly. Couldnt declare friendship with John Curtin.

    - How soon did you build a District? Which ones did you prioritize?
Built district immediately after settling second city. Prioritised holy site followed by campuses.
Capital focused on building government plaza + buildings and settlers

    - Did you try to build any Wonders?
I tried to build Oracle but was beaten to it.
Tried for Kilwa but got snatched by Australia (pretty sure this was after turn 100 at this poitn)

    - Did you emphasize expansion? How many cities have you built/captured in the first 100 turns?
Around 8-9 cities built. Stopped building cities there after.

    - How quickly did you get Trade Routes working, who did you trade with?
Trade routes took a while. Mainly traded with Germany

    - How did you play your governance cards, priorities?
During expansion phase rushed +50% production settler to get plenty of cities out. This and natural philosophy.

    - Which Governors did you choose and why did you choose them?

    - What City-States did you meet and which ones did you cultivate to your side?
Was first to meet Fez and some cultural CS (Nan Mando, Villinius etc.)
Cultivated Zanzibar early so I can sell my luxuries to AI to buy more builders and infrastructure.

    - How were the Barbarians?
Few barbs. Spawned far away from me

    - Any surprises?
No Mausoleum in the game! And managed to befriend germany quite easily.

    Spoiler :

Settled on the truffles, but then so many mistakes!
Appointed Magnus way too soon as I was far from being able to chop the rainforest
Missed religious settlements pantheon, took divine spark
Decided to go for a religion but put too much focus on it, so hard delay my settlers
Pushed for early empire without craftmanship, so bad military
Been forward settled by Germany around turn 50
Missed the first golden age by a long shot, so no monumentality
Lost my capital turn 66 to Germany who surprised war me with a horseman and 4 archers, against 1 archer in my capital, ragequit.

I clearly don't know how to go religion into science as I didn't expand or got a military, I felt with this very strong start that a lot of things were possible, but couldn't manage any of them...

I replayed this save so out of GOTM rules, just to see if I can do better, but it didn't go as good as I felt it could be.
I managed to get suze of Fez and Hattusa but Germany took them for himself shortly after, while converting my cities to its religion. Without the appropriate civic I couldn't declare a protectorate war, so I took back the CS in a formal war. I pushed to its next city, which I believe will be bad for the future as he will be too weak to declare on the CS so no protectorate wars.
I got a normal classical then a golden medieval but didn't use it well as I spent my time fighting for my religion, with very few fpt compared to the needs. And I'm going normal renaissance era, which could have been avoidable.
I'll read how the good players managed their game to learn more, right now I'm on turn 133 and the whole game felt sub-optimized.
