Current:

Scouting I gives +1 vision
Scouting II gives +1 vision
Scouting III gives +1 movement
(All 3 are land-only effects)


Proposal:

Scouting I gives +1 vision & +1 embarked vision
Scouting II gives +1 vision & +1 embarked vision
Scouting III gives +1 movement & +1 naval movement

Rationale: this has been wrapped into various overhaul proposals from recent rounds of congress, but all have failed due to very broad scope, bundled with other changes. These almost seem the intended function of the scouting promo line, obvious "fix" to an oversight rather than new functionality. Just makes revealing all the ocean tiles slightly less tedious, really, not much other gameplay impact.

This overlaps somewhat with the proposed change to Polynesia’s embarked vision proposed in 8. It would have the unusual effect of giving scouts more visibility when embarked than when on land I think. Could be interesting.
 
Polynesian Scouts would have the same vision on land than when embarked with this change.

I will go on record as saying adding +2 vision is excessive. I would just give +1 at scouting 2.

I think we'll have to wait for next round for this adjustment -- personally idc, if thats what everyone wants, its still better than status quo. I dont think we can do anything tho for this round.

The problems cited won't be gamebreaking, perhaps not even gameplay problems so much as theorycraft anomalies. It strikes us as odd that a scout would have as much or more embarked vision than land vision, but is it bad gameplay? maybe not.
 
Voting yes, but I think I agree with Pineappledan that it really should just be +1 vision at scouting 2, rather than both scouting 1 and 2. But I'd rather +2 than the current +0, so that's why I'm going ahead and voting yes. It can be nerfed back down to +1 later if that does wind up seeming too strong.
 
yeah i've been playing with this for a long time now -- i generally only notice that its quicker to explore the ocean. If ppl want slower ocean exploration, then +1 is better, otherwise there's no real difference. It makes sense to have it on huge maps, maybe not so much on tiny maps
