Motivation

Teocallis are by far the strongest follower belief even for civs that aren't super aggressive and are a no brainer for every domination civ. They provide 3 strong bonuses: faith on kill, supply, and XP. In particular, the faith on kill scales out of control mid/late game to generate insane amounts every turn if you are at war and have a fairly wide empire.

The global faith is kinda neat, and it is fun to have the global numbers pop off everywhere. Non-scaling global yields on kill were coded specifically for the Teocalli, because they are fun and different. I think they can be saved if the numbers are low enough that they cannot majorly contribute to global faith production.


Proposal Summary
  • Teocalli
    • Reduce to 10 XP from 15 XP
    • Change to 10 faith per kill in the city the Unit was produced in and 2 faith in all other cities. Changed from 5 faith per kill from each Teocalli (greatly reduce scaling from lots of cities)
  • Chichen Itza
    • Remove free Teocalli (Chichen Itza is already a strong wonder without this and now it would be even stronger)

  • 2 Faith
  • 15 XP for Land/Water/Air Units
  • 1 Military Supply
  • +25% Religious Pressure towards other Cities if Belief unlocking this Building belongs to Majority Religion
  • -1 Unhappiness from Food and Production Distress
  • 5 Faith when an owned Unit defeats a Military Unit
Proposed Teocalli (Changes in Bold)
  • 2 Faith
  • 10 XP for Land/Water/Air Units
  • 1 Military Supply
  • +25% Religious Pressure towards other Cities if Belief unlocking this Building belongs to Majority Religion
  • -1 Unhappiness from Food and Production Distress
  • 10 Faith when an owned Unit produced from this City defeats a Military Unit (actually 8 locally, not scaling with era)
  • 2 Faith in all other cities with a Teocalli when an owned Unit defeats a Military Unit (10 in the original city, because 8 + 2 = 10)

  • 1 Culture
  • 1 Great Engineer Point
  • On Completion: Gain Free Teocalli
  • +50% 🌟 Golden Age duration
  • -10% Empire Size Modifier in all Cities

Unfortunately this requires a simple addition of EraScaling column to the Building_YieldFromVictory table, so not 100% database.
 
Sounds good. I would still leave the teocalli with chichen itza (or another wonder), just to have a chance to get a single one if you missed the belief.

Teocalli is unacceptably strong as a single building. That would be even more true with the yields shifting to local yields on kill and away from Global.
Even now, it is almost like a free Brandenburg gate if you make all your units out of 1 city.
No, it is even more urgent that we remove it from the wonder with these changes.
