BEcause of a power outage, the update is taking longer than anticipated. The effort will continue until completed sometime within the next few days. New orders will still be accepted, but order revisions will not.

Well the update is still underway. It will not be done tonight, but definitely tomorrow. If someone wants to speed things up I will accept a political cartoon (by private message please). That'll save me some time in the end.

@flyingchicken: A bit of a mishap has led to the deletion of your orders for this turn. If you could resend them, I'd be grateful. If not, I'll make do with banking.

Well, Update is about 50-60% complete and I'll probably put another hour or two of work in it tonight. However, as some of you already know, it's turning out to have a lot more fireworks in it than expected. Stupid power out really messed me up scheduling wise for this update.

“On this eve, the ninth day of March, Nineteen hundred twenty-eight, the imperialist nation of Virginia has launched operations against the Georgian military along the Carolina border and within the mountains of Tennessee. Cause is certain in the previous weeks and months the Virginian menace has slandered the peace-loving Georgians and Klan members with ideas of corruption and offensive behavior, all of which are lies of the highest degree. I speak to you now, not as your leader, not as a Klan member, nor a general, but as a Georgian. A Georgian who loves his homeland with all his heart and by the grace of God was born on her soil. Our allies in Tennessee, with whom we have worked so diligently to save their nation from the communist threat and economic downturn, have betrayed us. They have killed innocent Georgians for their political beliefs and violated our sovereignty. Military action was promptly taken to defend ourselves. It is under these circumstances that the Virginian army was mobilized and ready to open operations, a coincidence that must not go unnoticed. For a century Virginia has loomed over the shoulders of hard working Georgians, biding time for the next chance to invade and claim the lands they have no right to. As a man of faith I tell you that God has entrusted the defense of our lands to the fine soldiers that fight as I speak, and to the leadership appointed for the benefit of the people. Just as I did fifteenyears ago I will fight alongside the men and defend the fatherland.

Long live Georgia, Long Live the People.

Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee, whithersoever thou goest.
    Joshua, 1. 9 ”

James Dahl, President of the Republic of Georgia, Soldier of the People.

    North American News Report

LOUISIANA ELECTIONS. New Orleans, Empire of Louisiana. The eruption of war between Virginia and Georgia has played a major part in this year’s elections. The maintenance of peace became a prime issue. Many argued that the ongoing affair in the east was an act of aggression by Virginia, not Georgia, and therefore not a concern of Louisiana. The Liberal Party ran on a platform of peace and stability, and remaining neutral in the conflict.. The Conservatives claimed that should Louisiana not take a stand now, Georgia will overrun the continent. However, the people of the empire have spoken and have stated that they do not want war, voting in the Liberal Party once more. (+2 Stability)

PENNSYLVANIA ELECTION. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As in Louisiana, the elections in Pennsylvania this year were dominated by the rising crisis in Tennessee. The outbreak of war has divided the formerly ruling moderate coalition very quickly. The Socialists and Liberals have united in a pacifist move hoping to prevent the outbreak of major war. To the right, a rising conservative movement has formed, calling for full UNSA involvement and confrontation with the Georgian threat. In a surprisingly militarist move, perhaps spurred by rising pro-French sentiment in New Jersey, the Pennsylvanian people have voted in the Conservative Party on a war platform. (-1 Stability)

NEW FRANCE ELECTIONS. New Caen, Republic of New France. The government of New France had their elections this year, and the conservatives very easily and clearly dominated the event. The government has linked the Klannist uprising and support in Georgia and Tennessee as a version of militarist communism. As the left of the country remains linked with the abortive civil war a few years ago. The New French government has promised to continue policies of anti-socialism at home and abroad. (+2 Stability)

MILITARY SEIZES POWER IN DESERET. Bringhamton, Deseret. A troubled country, Deseret has faced yet another coup this year as reactionary Mormon forces within the military seized power. The new regime has pledged to restore religious order to the nation and to restore the ideals of which the nation used to adhere. The military has been mobilized to maintain order in the larger gentile regions of the nation, and several non-Mormon leaders within the military have been imprisoned by the new government.

A NEW WAR ERUPTING? Nashville, Tennessee. New clouds of a possible global war seem to be emerging within North America. Investigation by Tennessean authorities into the Klannist uprising last year have resulted in confirmation that the uprising was sparked by local Ku Klux Klan agitators and leaders. These leaders were tracked to have fled into exile in Georgia following the failure of the rebellion, and were in absentee sentenced to death for treason. This was followed with raids by the Hunters into Georgia, assassinating these leaders of the Klan. Several members of the Hunters were captured by Georgian authorities while trying to reenter the Tennessean border. In response to the activity of Tennessean military forces within their borders, the Georgian government launched a full invasion into Tennessee. In response, prepared Virginian forces launched their own offensive into the country, seizing Nashville and rallying the support of much of Tennessee’s army. The Tennessean government has recognized Virginian support, though a small part of the military has declared its support for the Klannists and joined in battle alongside Georgia. The fighting has continued to escalate as Virginian and Georgian military forces clash along the Tennessee River. The Virginian army has managed to push back the Georgian forces, but at great cost as the fighting continues to escalate. The response from foreign governments has been almost immediate. Both New England and France have declared neutrality and have called for a negotiated peace as soon as possible. Elements of the Virginian and Georgian governments have been quoted as being eager for the war, hoping to decide dominance of the region in a final manner. Other governments have issued similar desires for peace, but whether stability and tranquility will be returned to Tennessee is still and unknown.

    Tennessee: 4 Infantry Brigades
Virginia: 11 Infantry Brigades, 2 Artillery Brigades

MEXICAN SCIENTISTS MAKE BREAKTHROUGH. Mexico City, United Collectives of North America. After several years of struggling with the theories already in wide use within the United Nation States of America, a breakthrough has been made. Various theories of aeronautics have been developed by researchers, greatly advancing socialist research into new flying contraptions. This has allowed the Mexican researchers to make a significant gain upon the technology lead obtained by the other North American countries.

EL SALVADOR DISPUTE RESOLVED. San Salvador, El Salvador. The El Salvadorian government was scheduled to hold its first full elections since the end of the war this year, but faced new threats. The government of Honduras announced its intention to annex eastern El Salvador. The government of Guatemala immediately protested and both countries deployed military force to the struggling nation. The Guatemalan army was ultimately able to crush the Honduran force, battered from the last war, and force them out of the country. The El Salvadorians then held new elections under Guatemalan guidance, and a united Liberal Party has won the day for a new, democratic state. (+3 Stability in El Salvador)
    Casualty List
    Honduras: 6 Infantry Brigades
    Guatemala: 4 Infantry Brigades

ANTI-SOCIALIST REVOLT IN CHILE. Santiago, Chile. Chilean citizens rose up this year against the government’s recent reformation towards more socialist policies. The anti-socialist move was quickly crushed after increased riotous behavior. The resulting bloodshed was minimal compared to previous unrest in the South American nation. Catholic agitators and former businessmen are believed to be responsible for the actions. The government has denounced the “reactionary behavior” of the people of the smaller towns of the country. (-3 Manpower)

UNREST CONTINUES IN UCNA. Mexico City, United Collectives of North America. The 1926 revolts within southern Mexico resumed this year after a brief breath of peace last year. Conservative and anti-socialist bandits have begun striking at government bases and installations throughout the former Union of Mexico, striking as far north as California. The fighting, while at a much smaller scale than the 1926 uprising, remains vicious and brutal, as the bandits begin striking at collective farming institutions as well as smaller towns. The government has retaliated against several smaller communities believed to be supporting the rebels, and has denounced the efforts of these people. (-2 Manpower)

JAMAICA VOTE RESULTS IN UNREST. Kingston, Empire of Haiti. The Haitian empire has had trouble maintaining order in the island of Jamaica. The Jamaicans have voted for independence, but have assembled a communist government. Blatant Haitian attempts to create government loyal to the United Nation States of America have met with utter failure as the people rally in support of the leftist leadership. A major uprising was launched, and the Haitian military governor declared full martial law and a curfew. Violence has erupted across the island as the Jamaican people launch a guerilla war against Haiti. (-1 Haitian Infantry Brigade)

VOTE ON REFORM OF BOLIVIA. Sucre, Paraguay. A vote effort within Bolivian Paraguay resulted in a major growth of unrest this year. The Bolivian people, offered two choices in the vote, decline both in favor of a call for independence. The government of Paraguay offered to recognize Bolivian as an imperial, military possession of Paraguay or to be divided into new Paraguayan provinces. Neither option was popular among the people, and they have risen in riot against the military government. The government’s response was harsh and immediate, closing down polling stations and breaking the strikes. Violence has erupted as Bolivian leaders call for a free and independent nation. (-2 Paraguayan Infantry Brigades)

    European News Report

PHANTOM CAUGHT. Moscow, Russian Federation. Two masked vigilantes have reportedly worked together to catch the notorious villain known to the Russian press as the phantom. The Silver Horseman and the Silk Shadow worked in collaboration to shut down the front operation within the famous Moscow Opera House, which was burned down as a result of the fighting. The Phantom’s identity has not been revealed to the public, which has been more concerned with photographs of the two vigilantes involved in bringing him down. Massive speculation has been riled up that the two are possibly romantically linked, and this has generated extensive press among the populace.

DANISH ELECTIONS. Copenhagen, Danish Empire. The elections within Denmark this year became dominated by the growing power of France and the threat of the Co-Axial Pact. As the countries of the European Alliance of Nations reorganize and regroup, it is felt that alliance may serve the nation’s need for protection. The Danish people therefore have elected the Dansk Konservative Folkeparti back into office. The Konservatives have pledged to build up the nation’s defenses at home and in the colonies. They have also promised to attempt to regain admittance into the Alliance in order to renew ties with the nation’s neighbors. (+1 Stability)

ENGLISH ELECTIONS. London, England. This year’s elections in England continue to be dominated by affairs in Ireland. The increasingly violence related to the Irish insurgents has made English politics a heated experience. The Liberal Party has called for further reform in Ireland to liberalize and incorporate Catholics into local government. However, because of Protestant protests in Belfast and England, the Conservatives railed against the liberals, stating that the limited reform passed was nothing more than conceding to Liberal demands. They have stated that martial law will continue to be enforced in regions where fighting continues. The Conservatives won the elections in a near landslide. (+1 Stability)

RUSSIAN ELECTIONS. St. Petersburg, Russian Federation. The elections this year have been focused upon two major positions. The rapid expansion of the Russian military and the recent heated debate over the global roles of lisism and communism and their influence on Russia. Duma member Jughashvili has led the charge with the Federative Party, calling for the expansion of the arms, and has continued his rants against the “enemies of Russian freedom.” His successful bid has launched him to the leadership of the party. He has pledged to continue Russia’s military build up, calling for a “preemptive defense of the nation against threats both to the right and left.” (-1 Stability)

PORTUGAL ELECTIONS. Lisbon, Portugal. The rising threat of war with the United Nation States of America has raised much concern among the Portuguese populace. The fear of full involvement in war in the country has sparked the rise of a movement to prevent Portugal’s entry into any conflict. Hoping to maintain their seats, the Liberal Party has adapted to the new change, alienating some of their past supporters. The Liberal government has pledged to push for a negotiated peace within Tennessee without the outbreak of a larger war. However, the liberals have stated that if their allies are threatened they will intervene in a conflict. (-1 Stability)

UNREST IN BRITISH ISLES. London, England. Several bombings took place within England this year attributed to Irish rebels. This was in conjunctions with riots between both Protestants and Catholics within Ireland. The English military has often found itself being placed between both factions and fighting both sides. To some though there is a light in the tunnel. A masked vigilante has been given credit for successful unraveling of several Catholic plots against the English monarchy in London. The caped avenger known by the military as “Captain England” has been given official recognition by the government. Some members of the press suggest that even a knighthood could be in the works for England’s first masked hero.

RUSSIA LAUNCHES MASSIVE MILITARY EXPANSION. St. Petersburg, Russian Federation. President Jughashvili has announced that by the end of this year the Russian army has grown in size by over six hundred thousand front line infantry soldiers. Jughashvili has pledged that this mobilization is for defensive purposes, hoping to secure Russian borders from the military threat of Korea or China, as well as Lisist France. The president has also called for immediate military reform and investigation, claiming that it is entirely possible that communist or lisist spies may have infiltrated Russia’s military. Jughashvili has stated: “The entire command system must be overhauled and those who are not suitably loyal to democracy must be purged to cleanse our military.” (-1 Stability)

ITALY ESTABLISHES NEW ACADEMY. Venice, Republic of Italy. In a city famous for arts and works of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, the new Italian government has announced the creation of the official L'Istituto di Ricerca Nazionale. This has come on the heels of the recent scientific advances made by the Italian research community and has attracted scholars from across the world. Scientists looking to make breakthroughs in research and development look towards Venice for their inspiration once again.

NEW ITEM ROCKS HOME MARKETS. Tsarityn, Russian Federation. The Russian Home Company has announced the unveiling of a wondrous new product. The so-called “refrigeration unit” has been recognized as a major change for the average Russian family. This new product allows for electrical storage of perishable items in small spaces in one’s own home. This revolutionary ideal may very well change the way that Russian citizens prepare and obtain food, and many have rushed out to buy this grand new invention.

    African/Middle Eastern News Report

MOROCCO ENDED. Rabat, French Empire. French accusations of mining of the Straits of Gibraltar by the Moroccan navy turned into a major war this year. The Republic of New England has spoken out in full support of the French government against Morocco, claiming it to be a “corsair state out of touch with the times.” The New England navy was deployed en masse against the main Moroccan fleet, easily demolishing the armada off the coast near Casablanca. The naval action was followed by a marine action at the city, seizing the port in the region for the New England empire. This claim was soon recognized by advancing French forces from Algeria. The advance proved incredibly successful and the Moroccan armies were brushed aside by the modern French military and their new tanks. The nation of Morocco has been directly annexed into the French and New Englander empires, ending its modern history as an independent state.
    Casualty List
    Morocco: Destroyed
New England: 5 Destroyers, 3 Light Cruisers, 1 Victory-class Battleship, 1 Marine Brigade
France: 22 Infantry Brigades, 4 Hotchkiss Brigades

FIGHTING IN KURDISTAN. Mosul, Kurdistan. The fighting in Kurdistan has taken a major new turn for the rebels. The Ottoman government has brought the rebels into open battle after introducing a new relocation policy. The Ottoman army has begun operations securing villages by removing the inhabitants and relocating them to other parts of the country. This has led to outrage across the country, further discussed below. The Kurds, however, have been brought out into open conflict, rallying a larger army against the Ottomans and forcing them back through sheer numbers. The Ottoman military has once again been soundly defeated in open battle. The Kurds have vowed vengeance against the government for the recent relocation policies and have pledged to fight to the bitter end or until the Ottoman government recognizes full and immediate independence. The leader of the rebellion has declared, “there can be no negotiation with inhuman monsters.”
    Casualty List
Kurdistan: 29 Infantry Brigades, 5 Artillery Brigades
Ottoman Empire: 17 Infantry Brigades, 2 Artillery Brigades, 1 Hotchkiss Brigade

OTTOMAN RELOCATION EFFORTS RAISE UNREST. Damascus, Syriac Union. The relocation efforts undertaken by the Ottoman Empire to restore order within Kurdistan have resulted in significant internal unrest. The arrival of relocated Kurds has outraged displaced people in other regions as the move disrupts local economies and lifestyles. This has been met with further unrest as other minority movements claim that if the Ottoman government can do this to the Kurds, they can do it to them. The end result has been uprisings among the much smaller Greek and Arabians, which have been quelled by government forces. The largest uprising has been led by the Syriac Church Christians as they establish the new Syriac Union. This Christian nation has demanded independence immediately from the Ottoman Empire, and have mobilized militias and forces to fight against the government in the likely event of refusal.

HAITI ATTACKS OVAMBIA. Leesburg, Ovambia. The Empire of Haiti, taking advantage of the distractions of Georgia and France, launched an attack this year to claim Ovambia. The attack proved to be an unmitigated disaster. The Haitian troops managed to land in Ovambia only to be bloodily defeated by the Ovambian army, mostly very well trained Virginian veterans. The Ovambians have utterly destroyed the Haitian expeditionary force, leaving only a few stragglers to flee back to their boats. A large number of Haitians were captured by the Ovambians, who have yet to announce their fate. They have suggested that because no official war declaration was made, these prisoners can be tried under law as murderers and thieves, and can be given the maximum penalty for their aggression.
    Casualty List
    Ovambia: 7 Infantry Brigades
Haiti: 36 Infantry Brigades, 9 Cavalry Brigades, 8 Artillery Brigades, 1 Zeppelin Bomber Squadron

YEMEN GOVERNMENT ESTABLISHED. Sana’a, Yemen. The Yemeni government has been pleased to announce to the world the success of their first open elections this year. A conservative organization has won control on a platform of military strength and local prosperity. They have promised to recognize the rights of all businessmen in their territory and to maintain strong ties even with non-Islamic powers. They have agreed to open up trading ties with both Europe and North America, in the hopes of improving Yemen’s meager economy. (+1 Stability)

NEW HAWAIIAN PLEBSICTE. Honolulu, Swedish Empire. This year’s plebiscite in Hawaii had a more decisive turnout than the previous one. Without a king to lead them and most leading socialists arrested during attempts of sabotage against the elections, the Swedes have been nominated to continue their direct rule over the islands. While many aren’t happy for the change in the islands’ management, most view it as a preferred alternative to the communism of the United Collectives or the anarchy which took place following the king’s death during the last set of voting.

FRENCH PULL OUT OF CHINA. Ghuangzhou, Republic of China. The French government has officially recognized republican Chinese territorial possession of the territory seized from Guangxi in last year’s operation with the Republic of New England. Despite promises of compensation for French attacks on Chinese citizens and towns, only minor aid has arrived from Italy, rather than the Co-Axial Pact as a whole. Chinese politicians have denounced the French government for its failure to support their promises, leading to growing support for an increasing anti-Axis movement within the government.

DUTCH ANNOUNCE COLONIAL CAPITOL. Sydney, Republic of the Netherlands. The government of the Republic of the Netherlands has announced the completion of a major project to build up the city known as Sydney in New Holland. The republican regime has announced this as a colonial and secondary capitol to help manage the small European nation’s vast Pacific empire. The Dutch have promised that this organization will help maintain the stability of the empire as well as providing a safe refuge to the Dutch people should disaster ever occur within Europe.

FIGHTING IN CHINA. Yancheng, Union of Chinese Collectives. The communist Chinese continue to hold on to their capitol and remaining possessions by their fingertips. The republican forces have opened a full siege this year upon Yancheng, which has quickly become devastated by artillery fire. Though the republicans launched massive forces into the region, the communists have managed to hold thanks to localized spoiling offensives. In the north, the communists have continued to hold the line along the Yellow River, sinking several republican gunships in the process. The fight has continued to be incredibly bloody, but many believe that the communist forces are on their last legs.
    Casualty List
Union of Chinese Collectives: 29 Infantry Brigades, 5 Artillery Brigades, 1 Tank Brigade
Republic of China: 66 Infantry Brigades, 4 Artillery Brigades, 5 Tank Brigades, 3 Destroyers

AMERICAN CUP. Baltimore, Virginian Empire. Even as the shadows of war loom over North America, the nations involved in the American Cup continue to compete in football sporting events. This year’s Cup was dominated by two teams which established a heated rivalry. The Houston Football Club rose up through the rankings very quickly to compete with the older, more established Baltimore team. The showdown took place at the end of the season in Baltimore, as the Texan teams went half way across the continent for their match. Determined for victory, the Texans managed to defeat the Virginian team with a score of four to three.

EUROPEAN CUP. Paris, France. This year proved to be a year of great disaster and successes for the Paris Football Club. While they managed to dominate the early part of the season and assure themselves a position in the final game of the year, they suffered a loss when several of the best players dropped from the game to enlist in the military. The result was a drastically altered team which found itself outgunned by the Munich team this year. The Munich Football Club defeated the French team two to one in the Paris game this year.

SOCIALIST FOOTBALL LEAGUE. Santiago, Chile. The people of Chile rejoice this year as the Santiago team at last makes a name for itself in the sporting world of soccer. The Santiago team met the team of the Urquizaville Collective this year in a pitched battle for victory within the league. The game was hard fought and neither side scored until the last moments of the competition. The ending score was one to zero in the favor of the Chilean team.

OLYMPICS OF 1928. Ottawa, Canada. The Olympics of this year were heavily disputed for dominance, but by the end it was clear that the Russian athletes remained overall supreme. The Russians not only managed to garner the most gold medals, but also the most medals overall. France and the United Collectives of North America proved to be the closest contenders, though the second closest, France, only managed slightly more than half of the total medals given to Russia. The Olympic Committee has announced its choice for the 1936 Olympics, after considerable input. The Olympics will be held that year in the city of Providence in the Republic of New England.

@bombshoo, money was not sent from France for covering Guangxi costs.

I’m getting the bad feeling that a number of orders were somehow deleted during the span of this update. Therefore if you did not send orders you have not been penalized for that.

As was agreed within the European Alliance of Nations Social Group, all tech related has been shared among the alliance.

We are glad that France's pullout seems to have gone smoothly but we hope that the failure to deliver the payments for the disaster in Guangxi last year was a simple bookkeeper's mistake. The Italian payment was graciously accepted and put to good use.

Don't you think it is time to quit? Or must you pointlessly send more people to their death?

OOC: Aw, no income at all from Guangxi? Good update nonetheless.
