A Brave New World Part 2

SPECIAL: The World War

SCOTLAND DEFEATED. Edinburgh, occupied Scotland. The heavy fighting in the British islands was brought to a conclusion this year as the English army continued its advance against the Scottish armies of the Co-Axial Pact. The Scots, still reeling from their defeats over the past two years, threw as many soldiers as they could throughout the year, fighting for every scrap of land. The fall of Glasgow in a major urban battle symbolized the defeat of the last large Scottish army, as the remnants surrendered in the smoldering ruin of one of the nation's former economic capitol. The English spent much of the remainder of the year, sweeping out various pockets of Scottish resistance still remaining, including on the scattered islands around Britain and a major fight at the former New Englander base incorrectly labeled by the American nation as Scapa Flow. The death of the Scottish king and the collapse of the military have brought an end to the Scottish nation and the English military has begun occupying the region, as they fortify their borders against a French assault.
Casualty List
Scotland: 267 Infantry Brigades, 5 Cavalry Brigades, 9 Artillery Brigades, 2 Anti-Air Brigades, 2 Anti-Tank Brigades, 5 A-35 Brigades (destroyed)
England: 177 Infantry Brigades, 3 Artillery Brigades, 4 Anti-Air Brigades, 4 Anti-Tank Brigades, 10 Panzer IV Brigades, 2 AS-124 Squadrons, 2 Buster Squadrons

WAR OVER THE CHANNEL. London, England. A major air war has erupted between the forces of England and the Co-Axial Pact over the English Channel and France and southern England. Axis planes have clashed for control of the skies, as the English launch bombing attacks against railroads and other infrastructure throughout northern France. Several small raids have even been launched against Paris, as the English launch a major new strategic bombing campaign in an attempt to open up a new second front against the French army. Portuguese planes, with French support have retaliated against the English, launching bombing raids into England proper, bombing industrial centers throughout the southern part of the island.
Casualty List
France: 10 PPDA-38 Squadrons
Portugal: 12 PPDA-41 Squadrons, 4 PBHA-40 Squadrons
England: 34 AS-124 Squadrons, 6 Tyr-1 Squadrons, 8 Buster Squadrons

WAR FOR THE ATLANTIC. Plymouth, England. The war in the eastern Atlantic Ocean has taken a decisive turn in favor of the Co-Axial Pact, as the French bring to bear the power of the Italian navy alongside their own. In a decisive naval and air battle over the Azores, the islands were reclaimed by the Portuguese army from English occupation. In the course of the battle the remnants of the Free German navy were destroyed by Italian ships, and the English were decisively defeated as well, as their then current fleet was also sent to the bottom. The English suffered even worse defeat when the French navy launched a submarine raid at Liverpool, destroying the hulls of several battleships before they could be completed. The Axis victory at sea has had dire ramifications for the English nation, as shipping has almost completely stopped to the island, and food becomes in short supply. The English government has instituted even harsher rationing, bringing the average meals per day down to one of sawdust bread and stale water.
Casualty List
France: 2 Destroyers, 2 Light Cruisers, 1 Heavy Cruiser
Republic of Italy: 1 Destroyer, 3 MR Submarines
Portugal: 8 Infantry Brigades
England: 4 Infantry Brigades, 1 Destroyer, 1 Constantine-class Battleship, 3 Aquarius-class Battleships, 4 Shark Submarines
German Republic: 3 Destroyers, 3 Light Cruisers, 1 Heavy Cruiser, 4 Submarines, 1 Constantine-class Battleship

THE RUSSIAN FRONT. Moscow, Russian Federation. The main theme of the war in the Russian Federation is stalemate this year, as neither side managed to gain a significant advantage over the other by the year's end. In the north, the year started well for the forces of the Co-Axial Pact as they pushed closer and closer to St. Petersburg, bringing the city under constant support firepower from both the ground and the skies. This trend broke mid-year when a large-scale defection and surrender among the Prussian military led to the creation of massive gaps within the Axis lines. As the French army struggled to fill the new holes, the Russians launched a surprising breakthrough, shattering the remnants of the Prussian expeditionary force and a large amount of French forces as well. The counter-offensive proved amazingly successful, but French military skill allowed the Axis forces to halt the advance before they could threaten Smolensk and Riga once again. In the center, the Axis armies launched a new offensive at Moscow, threatening the encirclement of the city once again. However, determined Allied resistance brought the advance to an end, leaving the Axis army battered and weary, forced back to their original lines. Around Tsaritsyn, the numbers of both sides has led to a very expensive draw, as both sides futilely pummel each other's lines with artillery and infantry assaults. Fighting in the region has mostly taken place along the Volga and Don Rivers, as both sides struggle to gain control over the vital waterways.
Casualty List
France: 429 Infantry Brigades, 18 Artillery Brigades, 20 A-39 Brigades, 34 A-42 Brigades, 10 Anti-Tank Brigades, 12 Anti-Air Brigades, 8 CaD88 Brigades, 40 PPDA-41 Squadrons, 30 BP38 Squadrons, 9 PBHA-40 Squadrons

BEHIND AXIS LINES. Berlin, Prussia. Open revolt has begun to erupt throughout the cities and countryside of Germany, as deployed Prussian troops defect to the German Resistance. With increasing amounts of arms and other munitions obtained by the Resistance, the Germans have effectively seized control of large portions of the former German Republic. Thankfully, the Prussians have proved inept or unwilling to combat these forces, as they are usually handily defeated by the German rebels, who have won victory after victory, gravely threatening Axis supply lines to the east. In Greece, the resistance continues to grow, striking at Italian supply lines to Turkey, including a successful attack upon an Italian arms convoy that briefly docked in Athens, leaving the ships in ruin in the city harbor.
Casualty List
France: 2 Infantry Brigades
Prussia: 34 Infantry Brigades (not counting defections)
Republic of Italy: 3 Infantry Brigades
German Republic: 20 Infantry Brigades

NIJERIAN FRONT. Christiansburg, Danish Empire. Fighting in most of Africa continues to be mostly subdued this year as the Danes continue to struggle against the Nijeria First Movement and minor French raiding attacks. The Nijerians have continued to escalate their efforts against the Danish Empire, destroying bridges and raiding supply posts, causing much logistical interruption. The French have not made any significant headway into the Danish possession, but have launched several smaller raids, providing support and supply to the Nijerian rebels. The Nijerians have still continued to call for immediate Danish evacuation, and have continued to radicalize their demands as support for the Allied cause seems to diminish internationally.
Casualty List
France: 2 Infantry Brigades, 3 Cavalry Brigades, 1 Artillery Brigade, 2 PPDA-38 Squadrons
Danish Empire: 6 Infantry Brigades, 4 Cavalry Brigades, 1 Anti-Air Brigade, 2 Panzer IV Brigades, 2 Tyr-1 Squadrons

TURKISH FRONT. Ankara, occupied Turkish Sultanate. The Allies have launched a renewed offensive this year in Asia Minor as Russian forces arrive to reinforce the struggling Turkish army. The Turks have managed to use this new edge to make several minor advances against the Italian army, but the larger numbers of the Axis forces in the region have allowed for successful counterattacks to contain the advance. In the skies, the Italians have begun to turn the tides with a massive influx of planes and support, fighting in the air to push back the Turkish planes. As on the ground, no decisive winner can be seen in the air as both Allied and Axis fighters struggled for control throughout the whole of the year without result. The probable upcoming Russian withdrawal from the war and the continuing stalemate have caused many Turks to doubt the validity of the war, and many feel that a negotiated peace may well be needed with the Republic of Italy.
Casualty List
Republic of Italy: 95 Infantry Brigades, 40 Mountain Brigades, 5 Anti-Tank Brigades, 41 PPDA-41 Squadrons
Turkish Sultanate: 48 Infantry Brigades, 4 Artillery Brigades, 2 Anti-Tank Brigades, 8 Anti-Air Brigades, 3 D-4100 Brigades, 37 AS-124 Squadrons
Russian Federation: 102 Infantry Brigades, 10 Artillery Brigades

UPRISING IN INDIA. Delhi, India. The rallying call of Udham Singh, India's primary voice of independence, the Indian people have banded together in a surprise move against French authority. Assembling the various national movements, and seizing lightly guarded French armories throughout the northern parts of India, a new independent Republic of India has been established out of Delhi. Singh has called for the full expulsion of the French government out of India, and has assembled an apparently formidable army from the masses. Decrying French oppression and calling for the Indian people to acknowledge the fight for freedom, the new Indian government has launched a full scale uprising through much of the north. The French government has immediately deployed fresh troops to bolster garrisons in the region, but the sheer size of the uprising and the need for troops in Europe has prevented a full-scale response against the revolt. Historically, this marks the first major revolt in French India, since the Islamic purges of the middle and late nineteenth century.
Casualty List
France; 11 Infantry Brigades, 2 Artillery Brigades
India: 22 Infantry Brigades

WAR IN THE WESTERN PACIFIC. Taipei, Swedish Empire. The Republic of the Netherlands has launched a long awaited move against the Korean Empire, revitalizing their military after their humiliating defeat in the Japanese islands. The first action was the successful capture of the Portuguese base in China known as Macao and the sister city not far away owned by the Korean Empire. The local garrisons were easily overwhelmed by the Dutch naval and military forces, with only minor losses for the Allied force. The Allied army and navy then moved against Formosa, once again handily destroying the Korean garrison, with only minor losses, restoring that island to the control of the Swedish Empire. The next move was to assault Portuguese-held Karlso, in order to stage a major attack upon Korean shipping around the Korean peninsula. Aware of the island's strategic significance, the Korean navy and part of the air force were deployed to assist in the Portuguese defense against Dutch attack. The Battle of Okinawa is the first battle to date where neither side's main naval force came within sight of the other before the battle was over. The new Dutch carriers proved amazingly effective and their air corps managed to inflict an overwhelming victory against the remnants of the Korean navy. With the utter destruction of the Korean surface fleet once again, the Dutch marines managed to take Karlso with little difficulty, restoring a strong foothold for action in the Japanese islands. Other minor naval skirmishes took place between Korean submarines and Dutch destroyers throughout the region, but intensive training and doctrine by the Dutch fleet has developed strong countermeasures against submarines, assisting in the thwarting of the Korean submersible threat.
Casualty List
Korean Empire: 5 Infantry Brigades, 20 Destroyers, 8 Light Cruisers, 2 Heavy Cruisers, 2 Battlecruisers, 1 Caesar-class Battleship, 11 LR Submarines, 4 PPDA-41 Squadrons, 3 BP38 Squadrons, 4 PHBA-40 Squadrons, 2 Dragon Zeppelins, 2 Phoenix Squadrons, 1 Zeppelin Dreadnought, 2 Zeppelin Bombers
Portugal: 3 Infantry Brigades
Republic of the Netherlands: 8 Destroyers, 1 Atlantic-class Battleship, 2 LR Submarines, 2 AS-Zero Squadrons, 1 Buster Squadron
Russian Federation: 1 Destroyer

KOREAN FRONT. Seoul, Korean Empire. The heavy fighting of last year was continued in Manchuria and Korea this year as the armies of the Korean Empire and the Russian Federation clashed ever more. The threat of the Korean government to raze Vladivostok was cause for a major Russian offensive to liberate the city, leading to a diversion of resources to crush the Korean forces there. Though the defeat of the Korean army around Vladivostok proved a major victory, the time spent fighting there allowed the Koreans to train and arm more soldiers for the fight in Korea proper. The Russian armies managed to advance deeper into Korea, but north of Seoul, the Koreans struck back, driving the Russians back towards Pyongyang. A brutal stalemate has taken place, as the Koreans run out of firepower and air support, continuously under heavy Russian bombardment. The Koreans have also seen the last sortie of their air corps, as Dutch raids from offshore carriers surprised and destroyed several essential airfields and aircraft factories behind the front lines.
Casualty List:
Korean Empire: 510 Infantry Brigades, 13 Cavalry Brigades, 3 Mountain Brigades, 22 Artillery Brigades, 7 Anti-Air Brigades, 6 Anti-Tank Brigades, 3 A-35 Brigades, 6 A-39 Brigades, 6 A-42 Brigades, 4 PPDA-38 Squadrons, 6 PPDA-41 Squadrons, 4 BP38 Squadrons, 3 PHBA-40 Squadrons
Russian Federation: 290 Infantry Brigades, 2 Marine Brigades, 7 Artillery Brigades, 2 Anti-Tank Brigades, 2 Anti-Air Brigades, 6 Murphy Brigades, 23 Panzer IV Brigades, 15 AS-Zero Squadrons

The D'Artagnan Expedition
Type: Moving Picture
Genre: War
Producer: French National Cinema Productions
Running Time: 99 minutes
Summary: The D'Artagnan Expedition depicts a group of French soldiers in the deepest parts of Nijeria, fighting the Danish Empire, and how they struggled against the odds of Danish resistance to win battle after battle. The film shows the brutal conflict and how common French men from varying backgrounds of society found their place in the military and worked together as a unit, finding common cause in their nation and army. They worked together to destroy vital Danish installations and to bring down an evil and decadent empire, replete with corruption. The film shows how the just and true French cause brings liberty and freedom to the people of Europe, through their fighting spirit and will for complete justice to be brought to the people of the continent.

The World Turned Upside Down
Type: Moving Picture
Genre: Documentary
Producer: Island Productions
Running Time: 144 minutes
Summary: The World Turned Upside Down is a documentary of the final parts of the World Wars in North America, using battlefield footage and captured newsreels from the Republic of New England to show the masses what has been won. Unfortunately for some, the film also showed the grittier side of the war, to the millions of hastily dug graves between the Mississippi River and Mexico City and to the devastated rubble of Baton Rouge. The film takes footage from areas from before the war and compares them with the terrible aftermath of the conflict, showing the starkness and poverty caused by global conflict. The film has shocked many people, and has been cut from most cinemas throughout the Republic of New England, but has gained audiences in Pennsylvania and various other nations throughout the continent.

1948 OLYMPICS CONFIRMED. Geneva, Switzerland. The International Olympic Committee has confirmed that the 1948 Olympic Games will continue as scheduled and they have selected and appropriate city for the vision of global unity that is the Games. Saint Augustine, the capitol of neutral Florida, has been chosen, and the games are slated to take place on the outskirts of the city, a beacon of stability on the North American continent for years. The end of the wars in the Americas has provided many with the hope that the World Wars will altogether be over by 1948 and that the Olympic Games will see a resurgence since the onset of the terrible global conflict. The International Olympic Committee has also confirmed that preparations are being made for determining the city for the 1952 Olympics, considering a variety of choices based on the recent developments in Europe. Whether much of Europe will be excluded from potential selection remains undetermined, as it is unclear whether the continent will be ready to host such an event in the wake of the World Wars.

@Nestea Oreo: Your Kommando spending could not be done because you had 29 EP, not 30.

@Slim_Shady: 20 EP may seem like a lot to you, but it really isn't. Take a look at the costs of the Ordenz Project or China's Reconstruction Project to see a lot of spending. EP can't just buy developing, that's something that takes place over an extended period of time and progress, especially in a large scale. Patience is what I recommend for you.

@Skizzik, if you're still out there. You may choose either the Fox, Sauk, or Isanti if they strike your interest, otherwise, I'd recommend sending me a private message and we'll find something new for you outside of the Algonquin Nation.

This should be the last three-poster I believe, or so I hope.

OOC: Great update, EQ!

So, war continues; so, little progress seems to have been made. Shall we discuss peace?

To: Prussia
From: France

We demand explanations for these examples of perfidy in the Prussian ranks. We hope this is not a demonstration of the current Prussian leadership's... ahh... unsavory objection to their French benefactors?

Thanks for the update, EQ, though I'm a little disturbed by the results of the Guyanan plebiscite; not that they weren't in my favor, but that I thought that the plebiscites were being held ONLY in Cuban Guyana, not SUSA Guyana. I guess that wasn't clear enough. Oh, well. I guess I didn't lose much.

And I will be out of town tomorrow for the holiday, and don't know when I will be back (I don't control my life :( ). I won't have any real internet connection, so please take that into account. But I may be able to come up with some simple, no foreign policy orders.

To: Russia
From: France

So, war continues; so, little progress seems to have been made. Shall we discuss peace?

The new administration would be happy to speak peace with France. Unlike the Americans we do not want to destroy each other in a war which may take over a decade to complete. We have luckily dug up a previous peace proposal you sent the previous Foreign Minister, and have made several slight alterations.

1. Axis troops will evacuate all territory of the Russian Federation.
2. Russia divorces herself any political allegiance from the European Alliance of Nations with the exception of the Kingdom of Sweden, whose independence France promises to recognize.
3. Russia will allow Romania, Serbia, and Bulgaria the rights to self-determination.
4. The Federation of Russia and the National Republic of France will publicly recognize and respect the independence of the opposite state and the legitimacy of their respective governments.
5. The Federation of Russia shall offer no claims of support to the former governments of Germany, Hungary, Denmark, or Greece; nor to the current government of England.
6. The sovereignty of the Turkish Sultanate will be upheld.
7. The return of land to the government of Galicia which is still a member of the Russian protectorate, and wishes to continue being so.
8. A plebiscite to be held in Transylvania to determine its future as either a component of Romania or an independent state.
9. Any aid and allegiance to Korea by France and its allies will be severed, and France will not dispute any decision made on the future of Korea made by the Russian Federation.

In regards to the changes:
Removal of "2. Russia agrees to hold a legitimate plebiscite overseen by Chinese and French proctors in the region of Manchuria to determine if the indigenous population desires union with the Republic of China."
-Manchuria remains a integrated component of the Russian Federation, any future plebiscite on the question of reintegration of Manchuria to China is to be decided internally at a later date.

Removal of "3. Russia agrees to turn over any and all German, Dutch, Danish, and Hungarian high officers and political officials currently in hiding in the Federation of Russia. Both sides will offer complete amnesty to soldiers and low officers."
-While Russia will remove its support for these governments, we have no obligation to simply round them up and hand them over to France. We will give all a choice to return home under French amnesty, peacefully settle in Russia, or relocate themselves and their arms to Sweden where they will no longer receive Russian support. French observers may be allowed to witness the supervision of the removal of EAN forces from Russia.

And in regards to reparations Russia feels that French damage done to the Russian people, land, economy, military, and honor, makes up for French damages incurred and as such no reparations from either side will be made.

OOC: Oh, I misspent, I knew it was 29, but somewhere in the modifications it went astray.

To France from Prussia
We are deeply hurt at your accusations and will allow a full audit of the actions of our high command. We remind the French government that our rank and file recruits in general lack a Prussian sense of nationalism, and we suggest that in the future Prussian contributions be in the form of hardware and more elite formations until such can be changed. For now we call for a French peacekeeping corps as we need infantry formations that can be counted on that are larger than what we can evidently provide.

To: Russia
From: France

We can accept the alterations that Russia has made and will gladly sign this peace. We also note that it would be wise of Russia to urge Sweden and Turkey to accept peace, too, before the war becomes hot for them as well.

To: Korea
From: France

As of now you are officially expelled from the Co-Axial Pact of Nations. Goodbye and good luck.

To: Sweden
From: France

Given the impending exit of Russia from the war and our already-expressed desires to have peace, further noting that after seven years of war your original war aims have no possible chance of being fulfilled, we once again revisit the notion of peace. Shall we negotiate?

To: Turkey, Italy
From: France

Isn't it time we ended the bloodshed? Let us negotiate a peace.

To: Prussia
From: France

We will review the situation. French forces will in short be dispatched to handle the Munich upstarts, and we advise that Prussian leadership strongly reorganize such that this travesty cannot repeat itself.

Prussia to France
We are deeply grateful for your aid in the face of this embaressment and will follow your advice to reorganize to combat West German treachery and local sympathizers not worthy of the Prussian brand.

On a different note we are willing to drop your promise of German Afrika in the face of the failure of our northern theatre forces as they fought bravely with your men towards Petersgrad before they cast away their honor by not halting the surrender of their more cowardly brethren, to speak not of the defectors in Western Germany.

Prussia to France, Russia, Galicia (Transylvania), Sweden and Turkey
We ask that Russian, Galician, Swedish, Turkish and potential and eventual Transylvanian recognition of the French protectorate of Prussia be included in this treaty. We also ask for Russian, Galician, Swedish, Turkish and potential and eventual Transylvanian recognition of Prussia's legal ownership and moral right to the German colonies of Cyprus and the Pacific Ocean Islands.
In return Prussia will gladly recognize the legitimacies of the above mentioned governments and their extend possessions.

We ask that Russia review Prussian prisoners of war and dispatch those loyal to the Prussian state. Russia is welcome to keep the traitors and deserters if it so wishes though we would consider it an act of goodwill towards Prussia and the Axis if you send them to a non-Prussian axis faction for execution. The Lord our God will surely be pleased with the destruction of the worst brand of sinners and condemn them to what the Catholics consider the ninth circle of hell.
Prussia will likewise return any POWs in its possession.

OOC: Lol, guys, ever see (well, you probably have of course) how New England and Virginia complement each other quite well as alternate time-line versions of the US Navy (and Air force to some extent) and US Army? I also get that whole northern and confederate feel from the respective nations and players. Great RP!

Yay, I finally get to economically integrate Europe!.. right Crezth :p?

To: Turkey, Italy
From: France

Isn't it time we ended the bloodshed? Let us negotiate a peace.

Let us. We are waiting only for Turkey to agree to come to the negotiating table.

Bill Johnston was breathing heavily now. The stage was crowded with new, but determined faces that seemed to gather the attention of those just passing by. The deep royal Virginia blue seemed to decorate the stage, leaving no one guessing the patriotic leanings of the Unity Party. The soft and warm southern breeze seemed to give the rally an almost tranquil feeling, ignoring the political ramifications that a failed Unity Party would have on the current state of affairs in Virginia.

Johnston, born and raised in Charleston, had been a die-hard Conservative his entire life, as had his father and his father before him. Though recently he has seen his political allegiance questioned. While before the war the Conservative platform would have seemed run-of-the-mill in Virginia, certain planks seemed antiquated. A return of centralized royal power, for example, seemed more in place in the 19th century than in 1945. Virginia was changing, completely reshaped since the treaty ended the war just six months ago.

“Bill! Hey friend, what brings you here? Aren’t you a die-hard Conservative?” Roger was also a worker at the Ford plant in Lowland, just a few miles out of Charleston.

“Can’t blame a man for sticking to his heritage,” Bill replied, annoyed that he would run into someone he knew at this rally.

“Then what are you doing here? You know this is a rally for the Unity party, right?” his co-worker replied. Bill tried to act like he ignored the question, hoping Roger would get bored and move up closer to the stage. Instead, he went on.

“Heck, you don’t have to answer that, I know what you’re going through. I was a Conservative man myself back before the war. Started showing up to these Unity Rallies back in ’34, soon got to realizing there were those who cared more about the power and stability of the Empire than at pushing them negroes down.” Bill had to admit, Roger made some sense there. Maybe this conversation wouldn’t be a complete waste.

“I think a lot of people are starting to see things that way. The Uniters have proven themselves capable at governing the Empire. Hell, they won a war against a communist empire more than five times larger. I think that counts for something.” Bill actually started to feel a might more comfortable with his new views, now that he was talking with another former Conservative. To his surprise, he saw a disappointed look in Roger’s eyes.

“Yeah, but at what cost? Millions have died to fight a distant war, from which Virginia has gained very little. Sure we drove them commies from the swamps of Louisiana, the forests of Canada, and the prairies of Texas, but where does that leave us? A whole lot thinner, and a whole lot poorer.” Bill was confused, and he didn’t let his growing disdain for the man stop him from expressing so.

“But I thought you were a Uniter? What about those rallies in the 30s?”

“I said I was into the Unity Party. Been rethinking my stance now. I joined the Party hoping to make Virginia stronger, hoping to push our Empire to her full potential as a superpower among nations. Instead I got a war that did neither. Sure, we licked Georgia in the process, but now we are too weak to even make that worth it,” Bill exclaimed, kicking a rock up from the ground to emphasize his disappointment.

“So if you ain’t a Uniter, and you think the Conservatives are outdated, just what are you thinking about?”

“Went up to Columbus just last week to visit the miss’ parents for Easter. They got a homely little cottage somewhere in the backwoods. In any case, on the way we passed through industrial belt on the Ohio River. All them people up there, they vote for the Liberals. Got to talking to a couple of workers at some taverns. They had some good points.” This Bill was not prepared for. He had debated with Conservatives, heard lectures from Uniters, even met a few of them new Federalists traveling through West Carolina, but there were very few Liberals he had ever seen. Though the twenties had seen the Liberal Party in charge of the Empire, they were never popular in the south.

Recognizing surprise on Bill’s face, Roger continued in earnest, “Now I haven’t give up on the idea that strength is what Virginia needs to pull itself from the post-war recession. That much is a no-brainer. But these Liberals, they had some ideas worth listening to. One, for instance, was their insistence on legalizing the labor unions. That’s gotta sound good to working fellas like us right? Another feller I was tossing a few back with was telling me about some guy named John Keynes they got up there at the Columbus University talking about how to avoid recessions and the like. He’s talking about rebuilding Virginian infrastructure, giving all these men who fought for the Empire jobs working on dams, roads, parks, and the like. He says only by giving these men money to spend can we avoid the worst of the economic downturns.” Bill wasn’t well read enough to really argue any of the points Roger was talking for, but on the surface they seemed to make sense enough.

“Makes sense enough, but I remember the Liberals when I was a youngin. They didn’t seem to favor Virginian military strength enough, and if its anything we need right now, it’s a strong army.”

“Yeah, that’s how they used to be. But the current political landscape in the Empire has forced them to adopt some Unity policies, including maintaining a modern military capable of defending our Empire. They seemed to take the best points of all the parties, actually, including them rising Federalists. The Liberals have even argued for reforming the Imperial Council. That’s good news for everyone south or east of the Potomac.” The conversation continued like this for another three or four minutes before Bill made up some excuse to leave his friend. Though he came to dislike Roger over the past few weeks on the assembly line, his co-worker had given him something to think about. Maybe the Unity Party wasn’t where the future of Virginia at. If he were leaving the Conservative Party on the basis that their points were antiquated, shouldn’t he choose a party that had the best grasp on the future? By the time he finally reached his doorstep, he still couldn’t understand why Roger was at the Unity Rally.

It just wasn't worth the effort from what it seemed. France tried a couple of moves that were repulsed and the men could have probably been better used elsewhere. It wasn't like Sweden was going to win the war by holding those two things.

Another feller I was tossing a few back with was telling me about some guy named John Keynes they got up there at The Ohio State University talking about how to avoid recessions and the like.

Fixed that for you.

OOC reply and random thought:
Spoiler :
Ah, thanks! That's quite interesting. Must be an and/or combination of manpower, fortifications and chokepoints. I'll check up on the updates later! I think I have a vague memory. I helped fix the alliance list in an edit to the above post, though I might have missed any new alliances, and I haven't backchecked whether the United Islam Alliance was cancelled. Lol, I think the Atlantic BS is about to become an obsolete/archived design. Somebody should design a destroyer or something. Oh hey, I checked, there's 21 and 10 unique designs of tanks and battleships! Of course I suppose if one designs a destroy there's no way it could match the maturity of a Titan or an Angel.

Technically, I haven't been a member of the ISCG ever since the Virginians put Serge Sauvage under house arrest.

OOC: Great update. Should have continued the war. :p

The time for peace has come. Your rebellions only further destabilize North America and slow the rebuilding process. A strong united Mexico is needed in these troubling times. Lay down your arms before more blood is unnecessarily spent.

We encourage all nations of America to denounce these rebellions.

Although the United Collectives has been disbanded the ties between our nations and people are strong. Mexico proposes a mutual defensive assistance treaty between our nations. We will defend each other from any possible external threats and share military designs between our nations.

As per the Treaty of Veracruz the first round of payments will begin this year as per its terms. We leave the division of this up to your respective governments.

Well we'd be happy to discuss it sadly though France does not seem willing to offer it to our people as yet.

It is with the utmost regret that we see a former nation fall apart, surely you will all agree that together we are stronger.

Our differences that have driven us apart can be overturned if we bring unity to the Wisconsin region.

With the War reparation given from the former UCNA we will rebuild and renew.
We propose that we start negotiations how we can all benefit from the end of this terrible conflict that have torn our culture and nation apart.

Are you willing to negoptiate?
