A Brave New World Part 2

Re: The World

This is why a Quebecois nation cannot exist, for a third time, the Quebecois seemed predisposed to war and bloodshed and to only cause harm and pain to Canada, and possibly the World. Remember the Great War of three decades ago, of which the actions of the Quebecois caused the deaths of over 5,000,000 brave men, and these Quebecois want to emulate those who started it! This is why they must be dealt with accordly until they can no longer threaten Canada, and the world again.
It is true- I am troubled to see the Québecois rebel leaders referring to war criminals heroes. If we cannot deal with our pasts, there is no way for us to move forwards.

Oh Really? Quebec's leaders are War Criminals? Than how do you explain the numerous Jean Hobelle Statues throughout Quebec?

Whats with all these new people joining who don't know anything about how to play.

Yes he was talking to you Slim_Shady.

OOC: Ok hmm, for educational purposes only, why don't you inform me of my actions that gives you the message that I lack the knowledge to play in a NES. Is it the fact that my attempt of peace offer was refused, or maybe the fact that I looked back on previous updates to get background information on Quebec and their former leaders. Oh no I got it. Its because I am staying IC in my diplomacy messages. Hmm, I'm stumped, why don't you shed some light?

Don't worry, Slim Shady probably isn't new. But, if he's not, that's his business.

OOC:
In my opinion you've been okay so far (all though I'm new to NESing, and am still feeling my way around, so my opinion may not be as valid as another NESer). You just goofed about the statues. Why would the Canadians allow those statues? Oops! And justifying the Quebec despot doesn't sound very IC either; like Germany defending Hitler or Russia defending Stalin.

OOC: Yeah, supporting Québecois dictators who had at one point supported and committed ethnic cleansing of native populations isn't a great way to win support from a Métis (mixed-race) nation.

To: Danish Empire
From: Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn

So you would rob us of the way we would pay you back (also 20-25 is unlikely in my opinion, far too high for Iceland, which was already well built up before you started as Denmark)? We find that rather unreasonable. We do not believe that we need to buy our independence, but we are willing to offer to allow Danish businessmen to continue their ownership of businesses within our nation's boundaries. We will not disrespect any holdings or monetary rights that Danish individuals currently hold and indeed encourage further operations. We'd like to remind you that you'd suffer economically as well as we if you attempt to carry out your insane threats. We have no interests of creating a history of animosity towards our Danish friends, though you seem determined to create such. If you want to keep our lands both secure and prosperous, you will agree to pass the bill for our independence.

No, we were saying that either you paid or we would take it back. Do not mix the two parts of the offer we made. We weren't saying either that you'd have to buy your independence. We were saying that you'd have to buy all the infrastructure the Danish Empire paid for ever since the 14th century when you came to be a part of the Empire. The main problem we have is that, from our point of view, you not only wish to create animosity towards the Danish people, but that you have been creating it for years, with your wish to separate from the Empire that has given you so many things. And the only way we can agree to keep your lands secure and prosperous would be if you stayed within the Empire, otherwise you are on your own.

Once more, we are saddened that you have decided to part ways with us and that you are so willing to cast away the several centuries of companionship the Danish have had in Iceland. If you decide to stay into the Danish Empire, then you'll be accepted with open arms. If you decide to leave, the only thing you will ever get is the high possibility of Denmark never wanting to have anything in common with Iceland. Is that what you want? To have a whole Empire hate you for wanting to leave?

OOC: So if Iceland has to pay for the infrastructure on the island does that mean the Danish government has to pay back 6 centuries worth of taxes that have been collected from the people of Iceland to a possible new Icelander government? :p

OOC: No. Since they were Danish, they were obligated to pay taxes. But, considering the general level of poverty existant in Iceland, their taxes were lower than the norm. They are just a bunch of ungrateful people, do not hear their words.
