A Brave New World Part 3

I see there is a large variety of questions requiring my attention since page 19 and one or two before. Rest assured I will answer all upon my return from work today.

The same goes double for me.

To France
From Virginia

Virginia hopes France is watching with a close eye the events unrolling in the Persian Gulf/Arabian peninsula. Nationalizing private businesses in these countries could come at a heavy cost to Virginia AND the French Empire, as well as the rest of the world. Should a coordinated effort at containing this risk be needed, Virginia welcomes a private conversation.

We agree. Those transactions were made dishonestly, and it is clear to us the only language of the Iraqi is that of force.

We would be willing to receive superadequate compensation or equivalent shares in the Oman oil companies as a substitute and an excuse for this heinous act. Otherwise, we must express our extreme disapproval for the business practices of the Oman-Iraq Alliance (so-called).

Message to the French Empire from Anwar el-Sadat
I am positive that the rumors of French spying within my country are untrue. I will be sure to eradicate those that attempt to ruin France's good name in my country.

You are correct; France is always forthcoming in her actions and dealings. We appreciate your continued support.

To the Venerable Catholic France, from New Holland
While it is true that we have not always seen eye to eye we believe the current conflict transcends secular concerns as it is a battle for the very survival of all who are not fanatics. We appeal to your caring side and respectfully request fiscal aid to help protect your co-religionists.

To: New Holland
From: France

We are not sure what century you think this is that we should be fighting religious wars. We have already made the world safe for Christianity, and besides which these are modern times. If possible, a diplomatic resolution is optimal, and frankly we shake our heads at your plunging yourself headfirst into an ultimately unwinnable war.

To: The Free World
CC: Pancasila
From: China

If it was not known, the Republic of China does officially condemn the government of Pancasila. Agus Hartono is clearly guilty of crimes against humanity and if he has any respect for the people of his nation, he should immediately step down as leader and surrender himself to a new democratic government in order to face trail for what he has allowed to take place duing his reign. China echoes the words of her ally, New Holland, concerning the government in Pancasila and urges the world to turn their eyes to this potential genocide before it is too late.

Before war comes about, let us have some negotiations to prevent any unnecessary bloodshed.

We offer our support, be it political or militaristic, to China and by extension the APACS. We would like to hear more about your opinion on Pancasillas and Japan and what should be done about them, and how we can help.

If the world is truly safe for Christianity, would France guarantee the safety of Christians in Indonesia? While we would not allow your annexation of Java and Sumatra as much as we ourselves do not wish to rule over Muslim islands French influence would be acceptable if this would mean France backing up its claim of Christian aegis.

The Republic of Italy also condemns the actions of Pancasila and stands ready to aid in this if needed.

Story Time:

Corinth, Republic of Italy:

Spoiler :
It felt like the world had turned on the Republic of Italy. Tenente Dios Andreakos had just been involved in rescue operations in Lioni not all that long ago due to an earthquake and here he is at it again this time in Corinth, his home town. On the bright side at least the military had been conducting ‘exercises’ in Greece at the time and fully half of the deployed forces were sent from the Bulgarian border to assist with the search and rescue effort. Tenente Dios Andreakos decided when his tour was over he was going to go to the College of Athens and learn all he could to prevent as much future damage from earthquakes as he could since they seemed to be becoming a regular occurrence in the Republic.

And then you add in the treatment reported by the Greeks who could get away from the Bulgarians and why the military was staging ‘exercises’ in such force in Greece and the Aegean Sea; it really did feel like the fortune of the Republic had turned. There was no doubt the Republic could crush Bulgaria if it needed to but it was far more prone to try for a diplomatic solution. Of course the Republic has always been prone to the diplomatic effort, but they held two cards most governments in the world did not, thought Tenente Dios Andreakos, they were willing to both use force if needed, and willing to say no if not.

This led Tenente Dios Andreakos to think about how he felt as an Italian of Greek decent. He was born under the rule of the Republic and so even though he saw himself as Greek he identified more as a Citizen of the Republic. The fact that the Republic was willing to make demands for Bulgaria to remove itself was proof of its loyalty to all of its citizens, not just Italians.

As he continued to walk with the search unit’s pair of dogs he wondered what the report about Bulgaria would confirm and deny. Whatever the situation in the end he knew he was proud of the Republic overall and would be there regardless of where this all led.

Rome, Republic of Italy:

Spoiler :
“Yes, we are of course nationalizing the Space Program because it allows us to put more efforts to this new field.” Emilio Rossini, Affari Pubblici signaled for the next reporter to ask a question.

“Do you mean to say that the government feels it can handle this better than a private effort?”

“Yes, and no. Yes in the initial stages of such a new field the government can handle it better because we can not only place the best and brightest on the problem, but the military as well.” He paused a moment to let it sink in and then continued, “Once it becomes feasible and there is a reason a private company would want to use this field we will let them do so. However no one is even sure what such a use would be yet.”

Emilio dreaded these monthly grill sessions where they allowed the reporters to simply ask whatever for an hour. Rarely did he have to direct them to or away from a topic, but occasionally he did have to, politely of course, tell a reporter they were an idiot. He had a feeling one was coming. Sure enough he saw Umberto Cipriani was next to ask a question and he always had dumb ones. At least it was almost over.

“Do you feel there is any significance to the multiple large earthquakes to hit the Republic recently?” Umberto Cipriani drawled out.

Emilio tried not to roll his eyes. Of course they were significant for the victims but what did he think there was some way it signaled God’s displeasure or something? What a moron.

“For the victims surely it is, but it is simply a sign that despite all our science we are still never going to fully understand God’s creation in its entirety.”

Emilio quickly went to another reporter. “We have heard the government has decided to let the French lead an investigation to all these rumors of mistreatment coming out of Bulgaria, what is the purpose of this investigation? We have all seen the reports in the papers; why not just stop them now?”

“Because unlike much of the world we still want to make sure before we commit our soldiers to die in a war that may in fact not be needed. Look at all of the conflicts arising recently on unsubstantiated evidence?” Emilio took a deep breath and forged ahead, this was a question he had been dreading given that no official investigation had yet even been begun.

“This concludes the conference any further question can be directed to the proper departments. Thank you for your time. Ciao.” Emilio promptly walked away from the podium.

If protecting Christianity means protecting every Christian in every God-forsaken country (pun-intended) from even the pettiest crimes, then I think the issue of sovereignty would kick in.

Now, whether or not we recognize Pancasillas as sovereign is another issue entirely.

I find this agreeable, and I do hope Egypt will agree.

In the process of proper review the offer of a 3rd party to investigate this matter would most likely be the best solution. The Italians have the resources to make a swift and efficent investigation and furthermore will be unbiased on the matter; a claim that cannot be made by either Egypt or Rashid Arabia.

Is this acceptable?

Then we will asemble the team and have them sent. We will of course present our findings to both interested parties as soon as any official conclusion is drawn.

Whelp. I guess I don't have much to do this turn.

**** it. Pennsylvania is gonna be a very dull play anyway.

We are relieved by your condemnation of the oppressive regime in Pancasila. This is proof that the reasonable and intelligent leadership present in your nations has endured throughout the years. We agree to a conference and hope that some middle-ground can be reached with all due haste.

To begin, we will contextualize the concerns by noting that Japanese fisherman appear to have been attacking Koreans unprovoked. We wonder why the Japanese government allows these heinous acts to take place.

To: France
From: Japan

These violent altercations have gone both ways. Japanese fishermen who have acted in violence are being dealt with by our authorities. However, it is the Koreans who have suddenly decided to encroach on historically Japanese waters, and many of our ships have been similarly assaulted in the past months.

We are grateful for your willingness to assist a diplomatic solution to the crisis and look forward to a conference.
