This thread is an attempt to help new players become more familiar with the Multi-site Democracy Game and to refresh the memories of our veteran players. I'm attempting to answer the question, "How did we get here?" I've done my best to highlight the most important events in Fanatikou's history, our victories, and our defeats.

I've done my best to give an honest, fair, and complete account of the history. I have gone through the secure website archives and every thread in this forum. I have just about read every word that has been written in the history of Fanatikou.

That said, there will surely be mistakes in my account of the first four terms of the Fanatikou government. Please post any complaints, criticism, qualifications, praise, and defenses in the thread below. I hope everyone enjoys this . . . or at least likes the pretty pictures.

In the year 4000 BC, Fanatikou emerged as a nation. The inhabitants of the plains and forests banded together to form a government and in 4950 BC founded their first city, Fanatikou City. During the formation of the government MSDG Team Captain Goonie pondered leaving Fanatikou over personality differences. He put his possible resignation to a poll resulting in only two votes supporting his resignation.

The elected officials of the first government of Fanatikou were as follows:
- President – Octavian X (over Donsig)
- Domestic Leader – Gingerbread Man
- Foreign Minister – Goonie (over Naervod)
- Military Leader – CivGeneral
- Chief Justice – Vander
- Culture Minister – Plexus
- Science Leader – Stuck_As_A_Mac (over Gunning and Wildfire)
- Public Defender – Naervod (Octavian X won, but was president then appointed N.)
- Governor – Zarn
- Trade Minister – Wildfire (over Gingerbread Man)
- Judge Advocate – Cyc

In 3900 BC Fanatikou City was officially renamed to Sacred Forest and an effort to officially change the language of the nation from English to Chinese was begun. During this period Goonie became more suspicious individuals attempting to join the nation of Fanatikou from the surrounding woods and plains going so far as to ask for an investigation of Seves, as suspected spy. Eyrei and Chieftess suspect that Goonie is being paranoid but allow a judicial review of Seves to take place resulting in a 2-to-1 approval of Seves citizenship and rule change requiring all future investigations to be done in secret.

In 3700 BC the migration from English to Chinese was completed and Sacred Forest officially became Shen Ling. Soon after Governor Zarn resigned from his position and Domestic Leader Gingerbread Man appointed Ehecatl Atzin as his replacement. By 3150 BC the secrets of Bronze Working were mastered by Fanatikou and a period of exploration began. For a brief period the people of Fanatikou believe they are on a small island. The uncertainty of whether they were isolated or not prompted the government to send all of their warriors to explore the lands while leaving Shen Ling completely undefended.

While the warriors were searching for coast lines, Military Leader CivGeneral surprised Fanatikou announcing that he was considering defection to the nation of Elucida, a far away nation to the east that most citizens had only heard of. Upon meeting with several other members of the government CivGeneral decided to stay with his people of Fanatikou.

In 2900 BC Fanatikou founded is second city, Zhi Gang, on the coastline to the southeast of the capital. Soon another group of explores make contact with the people of the Gamecatcher Alliance to the east of Fanatikou and in 2710 BC the warriors reach the isthmus, canal city of Balance Of Power. Back in the capital further political instability occurs when Ehecatl Atzin resigns as the governor and no replacement is appointed.

As a show of good faith, President Octavian X withdrew the warriors from the Gamecatcher border and appoints FortyJ as the Ambassador to Gamecatcher in 2670 BC. In response the Gamecatcher Alliance presents a Non-Aggression pact to the government of Fanatikou, but the Fanatikou government is unable to reach a decision on signing it.

Gamecatcher offers a Non-Aggression pact:
A. Part of pact requires that no military units shall come within one unit of other nation’s border.
B. The pact is set to last 20 turns from 2670 BC.
C. President Octavian X supports it. Foreign Minister Goonie is against it.
D. The pact is voted against in an open poll by 64%
E. In the interests of peace and future cooperation, to ensure our security and friendship, The Empire of the Fanatikese and The Gamecatcher Alliance hereby agree to the following:

There shall be no war or conflict between us. Our units shall not attack each other. Nor shall our units interfere with the travel and movement of each other outside of these borders. This shall be considered a Non-Aggression Pact.

Fanatikese units, logically, will be restricted from moving east of Balance of Power. Gamecatcher is allowed to use one warrior for the purpose of exploration west of Balance of Power. That warrior may not leave a 5 tile radius of Balance of Power.

This agreement shall last 20 turns after it is ratified by both parties. This agreement shall be open for renegotiation after 15 turns have passed.

Taking a more aggressive role in the government, FortyJ presented his plan for the nation of Fanatikou which is adopted with a vote of 94%.
A. To adopt a policy of focusing on defense expansion as opposed to any peaceful gambit to settle more land than neighbors.
B. Once land had been gained research would become the main focus.
C. Only warriors would be produced in Shen Ling until Iron Working is discovered.
D. Zhi Gang would be used as a Settler Factory.
E. After the discovery of Iron Working the nation should return to a balanced development of infrastructure and military.

In 2270 BC barbarians attacked the Fanatikou warriors exploring to the north dealing the nation its first casualties. Shortly after this, Gamecatcher spearmen and scouts were seen moving west from Balance Of Power towards the mountains. This maneuver would have been explicitly forbidden if the Non-Aggression Pact had been signed.

In 2230 BC the warriors exploring in the north made contact with the nation of Elucida. The initial discussion with President Kentonio of Elucida revealed many things. First, Elucida had already met Gamecatcher and another nation, Apolyton, years earlier, but Gamecatcher had always denied that they made contact with any other nations. Elucida revealed that past their lands lay east of the northern isthmus and Apolyton’s lands northeast of them. Elucida also revealed the Gamecatcher seemed to have a negative opinion of the people of Fanatikou.

The meeting with Elucida began a shift in foreign policy for Fanatikou away from Gamecatcher and closer to Elucida. Discussion began with Elucida to possibly help one another militarily and scientifically. Then a council vote decided that Fanatikou would push towards and eventual war with Gamecatcher with the goal of capturing Balance of Power and controlling the southern isthmus. To achieve this goal it is decided that Elucida would need to be enlisted as an ally and two competing drafts were drawn up as alliance proposals to be given to Elucida.

The two drafts presented to the people of Fanatikou were The Alliance of United Central Nations, a permanent mutual protection alliance drawn up by President Octavian X, and The Shen Ling Accord, a limited alliance drawn up by Foreign Minister Goonie. After much debate The Shen Ling Accord won the support of the people with 46% of the vote.

In 2150 BC Trade Minister Wildfire resigned from the government and no replacement was appointed. In 2110 BC the northern expedition reached the isthmus leading into the lands of Elucida but was blocked by Elucidian troops citing defensive precautions. In 2070 AD contact was made with Apolyton across the waters surrounding the isthmus despite the Elucidian blockade.

Just as the northern blockade was starting to strain Elucidian-Fanatikou relations, Gamecatcher troops appeared on the mountains east of Shen Ling in 1990 BC. With a threat to the east and a heated situation in the north elections were called to bring in the second government of Fanatikou.

The elected officials of the second government of Fanatikou were:
- President – FortyJ (over Armisan and incumbent Octavian X)
- Domestic Affairs Minister – Octavian X (unopposed)
- Foreign Affairs Minister – Zarn (over Goonie)
- Defense Minister – CivGeneral (unopposed)
- Ambassador to The Gamecatcher Alliance – Octavian X (unopposed)
- Ambassador to Elucida – Croxis (unopposed)
- Culture Minister – Plexus (unopposed)
- Trade Minister – Noldodan (over Armisan)
- Governor of Capital Province – Gingerbread Man (over Hygro)
- Chief Justice – Naervod

By 1950 BC Gamecatcher forces had reached the Fanatikou side of the southeastern mountains. President FortyJ immediately mobilized the troops to defend the Fanatikou border and contacted the Gamecatcher government for an explanation. The Gamecatcher troops turned north in 1910 BC and disappeared into the mountains. Foreign Minister Zarn then appointed Goonie as Ambassador to Apolyton to further relations with another potential ally. In 1870 BC the Gamecatcher troops reappeared, this time to the north near the capitol Shen Ling.

Under the Gamecatcher threat the government of Fanatikou unanimously agreed to a Non-Aggression Pact with Apolyton drafted by Ambassador Goonie:
APOLYTONIA AND FANATIKOU HEREBY AGREE:
That we are brothers, bound together in our common desire to survive and prosper. As the world prospers most in times of peace, we wish for there to be peace between us. In order to ensure that peace we hereby agree to the following:
1) There shall be no war or conflict between us. Our units shall not attack each other, nor shall they enter the cultural borders of the other party without permission. This shall be considered a Non-Aggression Pact. There shall also be a 1-tile "buffer zone" around cultural borders. If this buffer must be breached for any reason, warning should be given in advance.
2) We agree to cooperate and communicate regarding any disputes over settlements or scouting. We agree to work out our differences in a chat, should any differences arise.
3) This agreement shall last 30 turns after it is ratified by both parties. This agreement shall be open for renegotiation after 25 turns have passed.

Having new contact with three neighboring nations led to a brief period of intense diplomatic activity. An agreement was proposed to the government of Fanatikou at this time, drafted by Ambassador Octavian X, which would have traded Mathematics for Writing with The Gamecatcher Alliance. This proposal was voted against by 88%. Then an Apolyton trade of Ceremonial Burial for the Wheel was approved at 94%. Then this long term research and trade plan with Elucida was agreed to by 87%:
Elucida and Fanatikou hereby agree to the following trade:
1. Fanatikou stops researching Mathematics and starts researching Mysticism.
2. Fanatikou will trade Elucida Mysticism and Ceremonial Burial in exchange for Writing and Mathematics as soon as each tech is owned by its respective team.
3. Fanatikou will get Construction and Elucida will get Map Making in a timely manner. As soon as we have them, the trade will be Construction to Elucida for Map Making to Fanatikou.
May a long and prosperous friendship always exist between Elucida and Fanatikou.

Shortly after the Elucida trade is finalized, Foreign Minister Togas of the nation of Apolyton reported that Elucida is using aggressive city placement to pin them in with Elucida’s mainland to their south and a city at the northern chokepoint of the island. This announcement is the first indication of friction between the Apolyton and Elucidian governments.

A debate then began to decide the location of the next Fanatikou settlement. Three prime spots were available, an area on the coast south of the mountain rich in gold, an spot on the far eastern side of the mountains rich in iron but closer to The Gamecatcher Alliance, and an a more distant area to the northeast near a second iron deposit. It was decided that the impact of gold would be more beneficial to Fanatikou than iron and in 1625 BC the city of Cha Ching was founded.

On the day that Cha Ching was settled, Gamecatcher troops moved in on both of the known iron resources prompting President FortyJ to predict that there would be war with The Gamecatcher Alliance before the end of his term. By 1450 BC Gamecatcher warriors and spearmen had flooded into the mountain range and could be seen by all three Fanatikou cities. President FortyJ, Domestic Advisor Octavian X, and Ambassador Croxis all contacted the Elucidian and Apolyton government to start negotiating for assistance if war breaks out.

As the threat on the mountains built the Fanatikou government continued its cycle of hemorrhaging officials with Naervod resigning as Chief Justice. President FortyJ appointed Cyc as his replacement.

In 1425 BC Elucida discovered the secrets of Mathematics but did not offer them to Fanatikou as specified in the trade agreement above. The Gamecatcher build-up remained in the mountains but did not attack Fanatikou. Diplomacy with Gamecatcher revealed that they were aware of the secret discussions between Elucida, Apolyton, and Fanatikou to form a defensive alliance. In light of the situation, President Lucky of The Gamecatcher Alliance assured Fanatikou that the troops would be withdrawn from the mountains. With this guarantee in place, President FortyJ was able to authorize the settling of a new city, Yun Feng, near the iron resource on the far side of the mountain in 1350 BC.

In 1325 BC Gamecatcher become aware of the new city. Yun Feng was right against the iron resource they have been using their troops to stake a claim to. For some reason The Gamecatcher Alliance was obsessed with not allowing Fanatikou access to iron. With a strong force still in the mountains President Lucky decided not to withdraw as promised. Instead he presented an ultimatum to the government of Fanatikou and insists an immediate response to avoid war:
A. trade them Yun Feng or promise to not connect the iron resource to the city
B. remove all military units between viewing range of their units, and
C. agree that the eastern mountain range constitutes a permanent border between the two nations.

Seeing that there is no hope to defending their territory against the Gamecatcher troops, and not being allowed enough time to consult with Elucida and Apolyton, President FortyJ was forced to promise to not connect the iron and accept the Gamecatcher’s demands. Internally the Fanatikou government told one another that they had no intention of fulfilling the obligations of this “agreement.”

Diplomacy then continued between Fanatikou, Apolyton, and Elucida as they tried to reach an agreement on how to put down the threat posed by the Gamecatcher alliance. Mistrustful of Apolyton’s true intentions and confident of their military posture, Elucida unilaterally took action to push The Gamecatcher Alliance into war with Fanatikou. Elucida first secretly signed a Non-Aggression Pact with Apolyton, granting themselves security on their northern border. Elucida then contacted President Lucky and announced that they would assist The Gamecatcher Alliance in an assault against Fanatikou.

Only after securing a treaty with Apolyton and convincing Gamecatcher that they would help attack Fanatikou, did Elucida contact the Fanatikou government and let them know what was happening. Elucida informed President FortyJ that they had no intention of actually attacking their nation, but were instead going to use that misconception to gain access inside Gamecatcher’s borders. Then with Gamecatcher weakened from the war, Elucida and Fanatikou could coordinate an attack which would wipe out Gamecatcher. Fanatikou was given little choice in the matter as nothing could now stop the Gamecatcher invasion.

Desperate to expand Fanatikou borders and production capacity a new city, Jiang Mapi, was settled near the horses northeast of Shen Ling. Next, in 1275 BC Gamecatcher fulfills FortyJ’s prediction and invaded the city of Yun Feng burning it to the ground. Immediately after the sacking, President Lucky offered a peace treaty to Fanatikou as if the destruction of Yun Feng could be overlooked. A furious nation, Fanatikou rejected the peace treaty and counterattacked the units throughout the mountains.

In the face of diplomatic failure and international calamity, Croxis resigned as Ambassador to Elucida and Goonie resigned as Ambassador to Apolyton. CivGeneral and Bootstoots were appointed as their replacements.

Once inside Gamecatcher’s borders in 1100 BC, Elucida officially declared war on The Gamecatcher Alliance and assaulting their sparsely defended cities. In 1050 BC Domestic Affairs Minister Octavian X could see the urgent need for a streamlining of the government; he brought forward a number of reforms for eliminating unnecessary positions and changing the decision making process all which were approved unanimously by Fanatikou.

In 925 BC a confident Elucida attempted to invade the Gamecatcher capitol of Catchopolis but failed. In the middle of all this fighting, Fanatikou’s Non-Aggression Pact with Apolyton expired; President FortyJ moved swiftly to get its renewal knowing that he needed an ally much more than a potential enemy at this point. By 825 BC it became apparent to Fanatikou that Elucida was losing a war against Gamecatcher which they initiated on their own terms.

With their only ally Elucida now on the defensive, the Fanatikou government called new elections which would bring in a government charged with the task bringing the nation back from the brink of extinction.

The elected officials of the third government of Fanatikou were:
- President – FortyJ (over Zarn and Octavian X)
- Vice President – Chieftess (over Octavian X and CivGeneral)
- Domestic Affairs Minister – Gingerbread Man (over Octavian X)
- Foreign Affairs Minister – Zarn (over Goonie)
- Defense Minister – CivGeneral (unopposed)
- Ambassador to The Gamecatcher Alliance – Gingerbread Man (unopposed)
- Ambassador to Elucida – Veera Anlai (unopposed)
- Ambassador to Apolyton – Octavian X (unopposed)
- Justice Of The Court – Vander (unopposed)

In 710 BC the Elucidian defenses finally buckled under Gamecatcher’s invasion and the capitol city Elucidium fell. With the Elucidium seat of government in Gamecatcher’s hands, Elucida sensed their inevitable demise and handed control of all of their remaining cities, except Shaharazade, to neighboring Apolyton. They also sent and envoy to Fanatikou to deliver twenty-five gold and the secrets of Philosophy, Law, and Literature. Elucida decided to keep control of the last city Shaharazade only until Apolyton troops could be sent to garrison it.

With the Elucida’s gifts, Fanatikou also received news from Apolyton of their intent to join the war against Gamecatcher as soon as an invasion force could be assembled. The good fortune continued with the settlement of Yun Qiuling east of Jiang Mapi and connection of the nearby iron resource to rest of the Fanatikou road network. The nation finally achieved what Gamecatcher for so long sought to deprive them.

Soon a little friction was created with the Apolyton government over the technology of Construction. Under attack and with Apolyton still not having declared war on Gamecatcher, the Fanatikou government internally discussed withholding Construction from Apolyton until a more solid and beneficial agreement could be reached on future trade and fighting Gamecatcher. The Apolyton government became rather upset when Ambassador Octavian X informed them that the Fanatikou government was still deciding whether or not to give this technology to Apolyton, after all this trade had already been agreed to in 1625 BC. This disclosure also upsets President FortyJ and Foreign Minister Zarn as they had not asked Octavian X to communicate this confidential information to Apolyton.

Knowing that the nation needed some release from stress, the city of Xiang Zhou was settled near a discovered incense resource in 630 BC. The trade dispute with Apolyton was then quickly resolved in 610 BC gaining Fanatikou Polytheism, Currency, and Feudalism in a renegotiated three-way deal with the remaining Elucida government. For the three technologies Fanatikou only had to hand over Constructions, which would have ironically not been likely without Octavian X’s leak to Apolyton.

In 550 BC the war between Fanatikou and Gamecatcher ravaged on in the mountains with Gamecatcher handily defeating the Fanatikou swordsmen trying to defend the borders. Under the steady loss of ground FortyJ resigned as President in 530 BC making Vice President Chieftess the new president. In 510 BC disaster struck as barbarians from the north cut off the iron resources the Fanatikou worked so long to procure. With so many empty seats in the government Octavian X is appointed as the Science Advisor and Armisan is appointed as the provincial governor.

By 490 BC the Gamecatcher invasion force had reached the city of Cha Ching, the heart of the Fanatikou economy. The loss of Cha Ching would have meant a crippled Fanatikou scrambling to support a small military on the defensive. Defense Minister CivGeneral and Ambassador Gingerbread Man both strongly advocated suing for peace. Ambassador Octavian X argued that Cha Ching could still be held that the Apolyton allies were on their way to the Gamecatcher border. After much debate, no peace is declared with Gamecatcher.

In 470 BC Apolyton reached the last Elucidian city of Shaharazade and control was peacefully handed over and renamed Equilibrium. Fanatikou adopted an open door policy allowing all Elucidian refugees asylum. Gamecatcher furthered its claim of territory with the settlement of a new city, Port Blacksand, southwest of Balance Of Power.

With Gamecatcher troops in position to threaten Cha Ching, Yun Qiuling, and Jiang Mapi, President Chieftess resigned having never appointed a Vice President to replace her. Emergency elections were called to determine a head of state to continue the war against Gamecatcher. Octavian X was quickly and decidedly elected to the position of President once again.

By 350 BC Gamecatcher was able to settle another city, Sodapopolis, near the ruins of Yun Feng, adding insult to injury for the nation of Fanatikou. Still looking to Apolyton to assist in fending off Gamecatcher, Fanatikou agreed to a new trade deal granting Apolyton 180 gold immediately, 60 gold over five turns, a technology embargo on Gamecatcher, and 10-turn moratorium on trade with other civilizations in exchange for Republic, Engineering, and contact with two more nations.

After a long period of maneuvering through the mountains and vying for military posture over Fanatikou cities, in 330 BC Gamecatcher launched its second invasion of a Fanatikou city. There choice was the city of Yun Qiuling, home to the only Fanatikou iron resource. While an attack on Cha Ching would have been far more lethal to Fanatikou and easier to accomplish, Gamecatcher’s continual obsession with iron led their invasion force into a dead end. The troops of The Gamecatcher Alliance, the bulk of Gamecatcher’s military presence west of Balance of Power, were decimated as they tried to take the city, placing the forces on the defensive in an overextended position far away from any reinforcements.

Clearly defeated, unable to hold their position, and under increasing diplomatic pressure from Apolyton, Gamecatcher offers an unconditional cease-fire to Fanatikou, ending 945 years of constant conflict. Fanatikou was able to use this peace to quickly establish the coastal city of Kuangbiao Haian and concentrate of infrastructure.

In 290 BC the Gamecatcher troops withdrew from Fanatikou territory in accordance with the cease-fire, Fanatikou made contact with the far away nation of Webringen, and the Vice Presidential position was filled by the appointment of Donovan Zoi. Despite these accomplishments the government of Fanatikou did not mistaken the cease-fire for a peace treaty. Quietly, Fanatikou was rebuilding their army, watching their borders, and choosing the time and place to exact revenge. The peace was not to last long.

In 250 BC it was once again time to renew the Non-Aggression Pact between Fanatikou and Apolyton, which was quickly approved by both governments under the threat of a still dangerous Gamecatcher Alliance. TheDuckOfFlanders was appointed to be Ambassador to Webringen and the final nation of the world had still not made contact with Fanatikou.

Identifying that nothing could be more important than never being at the mercy of Gamecatcher’s armies again, the city of Ju Yaosai was founded as a defensive outpost city on the western side of the mountains. This city was to serve as the frontline defense against any future aggression from the east. In 150 BC the continent's peace was broken again with Apolyton making an official declaration of war against The Gamecatcher alliance, much to the approval of the Fanatikou government. Across the ocean Netatolia also made a declaration of war against Webringen.

The Apolyton invasion force moved swiftly southward threatening Elucidium, the former capitol of Elucida. Gamecatcher was forced to abandon the city to prevent allowing Apolyton a forward base. With the cease-fire still in affect Fanatikou is able to spy on the cities of Gamecatcher and sell this information to Apolyton, giving Apolyton the constant edge over the Gamecatcher military. Shortly after these events Bootstoots is appointed as Science Minister to fill the vacancy left by President Octavian X.

In 70BC Gamecatcher founded a new city, Santopia, northwest of Lucky Harbor. To Foreign Minister Zarn’s surprise, a complaint was received from Gamecatcher revealing that Fanatikou forces had moved into Gamecatcher territory. To avoid the immediate resumption of war threatened by Gamecatcher, Foreign Minister Zarn signed a peace treaty with Gamecatcher that called for a one-tile buffer between borders and foreign troops. By the time that President Octavian X found out about all of this the treaty was already signed. President Octavian X only then informed Foreign Minister Zarn that the units were purposefully sent into Gamecatcher’s borders to capture the iron resource outside of Sodapopolis, and advocates that they do so regardless of the new treaty. Instead the troops are recalled.

By 50 BC the Gamecatcher military had largely recovered from their defeat at Yun Qiuling. Under the diplomatic cover of the new peace treaty Fanatikou was able to discover that the bulk of the army had been garrisoned in a single, far away city on the Apolyton border. The spying also revealed that Gamecatcher had no iron resourced connected to their network of cities. This information was shared with Apolyton government as they had largely funded the operation. This information proves invaluable to Apolyton’s military operations against Gamecatcher.

In 30 AD further intelligence gathering done at Fanatikou’s expense revealed that Gamecatcher has left the cities west of Balance Of Power virtually undefended. President Octavian X immediately sent this information to the Apolyton government to assist them in their further conquest of Gamecatcher. The wisdom of freely sharing this information with Apolyton was deeply questioned by Foreign Minister Zarn, Vice President Donovan Zoi, Science Minister Bootstoots, and many members of the citizenry. President Octavian X was also under heavy criticism for not having secured an agreement with Apolyton finalizing the nations’ borders once the Gamecatcher menace had been dealt with. Most Fanatikou citizens felt that Balance Of Power was a key objective to all their efforts against Gamecatcher.

Fueled by revenge and enticed by Gamecatcher’s western vulnerabilities, Defense Minister CivGeneral and President Octavian X sent Fanatikou’s troops to the border in 50 AD. Gamecatcher, seeing this as a further violation of the peace treaty, declared war on Fanatikou without even asking for the troops to be moved back. About this time TheDuckOfFlanders went missing, Chieftess was appointed as the new Ambassador to Webringen.

Amid the mutual war with Gamecatcher, citizen Goonie held an impromptu meeting with the Apolyton government to try to negotiate control of Balance Of Power for Fanatikou once Gamecatcher had been destroyed. The Apolyton envoy communicated that it was their opinion that they already had an adequate agreement with Fanatikou and that the issue of Balance Of Power could be settled after the war. They noted that Fanatikou was developing a pattern of renegotiating agreements with Apolyton before they had been fulfilled.

In the aftermath of this failed diplomacy attempt, Goonie criticized Science Minister Bootstoots for revealing too much internal information during the negotiations. Vice President Donovan Zoi aimed criticism at Goonie for his demanding negotiating style and Goonie accuses President Octavian X of wrongly contradicting Goonie’s statements to Apolyton. The political infighting of Fanatikou reached what was clearly a high point over the handling of Apolyton.

The fallout of the fighting was Foreign Minister Togas of Apolyton specifically asking that Goonie not be allowed to serve in an ambassadorial position to Apolyton. But with a term of the Fanatikou government coming to a close and Goonie holding strong support at home for his candidacy for Ambassador to Apolyton there was little that could be done. In order to diffuse the diplomatic situation and assert his government’s authority, Vice President Donovan Zoi forbade Goonie from engaging in official discussions with Apolyton until the end of the current term.

In 70 AD Fanatikou troops under the control of a now stable government crossed the border into Gamecatcher territory sending the enemy fleeing to the east, government Term Limits were shortened to ensure a shake-up of officials when world events called for it, and relations with Apolyton were gradually improving.

In 90 AD looming Fanatikou troops forced Gamecatcher to abandon the city of Sodapopolis to prevent it from being captured. Emboldened by their first big victory the military advanced onto the cities of Santopia, Lucky Harbor, and Port Blacksand. By 130 AD Gamecatcher was also forced to abandon the city of Lucky Harbor in the east. In the west Apolyton was able to force the abandonment of Catchopolis, Gamecatcher’s capitol and home to The Great Library.

To top off all this good news for Fanatikou contact was soon made with the final nation of the world, Netatolia. The troublesome, but ultimately successful term was brought to an end and elections were called.

The elected officials of the fourth government of Fanatikou were:
- President – Gingerbread Man (over Bootstoots and incumbent Octavian X)
- Vice President – Bootstoots (over Gingerbread Man and CivGeneral)
- Domestic Affairs Minister – Yndy (unopposed)
- Foreign Affairs Minister – Zarn (over Octavian X)
- Defense Minister – Donovan Zoi (over incumbent CivGeneral, Cheetah, and Yndy)
- Science Minister – Wizard (over Bacon King and Croxis)
- Ambassador to The Gamecatcher Alliance – CivGeneral
- Ambassador to Apolyton – Goonie (over incumbent Octavian X)
- Ambassador to Webringen – Chieftess (unopposed)
- Justice Of The Court – Cheetah (over Hygro and incumbent Vander)
- Judge Advocate – Hygro (unopposed)

Because contact with Netatolia was made too late to make nominations the ambassadorial position was not part of the fourth government elections. Instead Cheetah was appointed to the position of Ambassador to Netatolia.

The new government continued the coordinated drive against Gamecatcher with Apolyton. In 150 AD the abandonment of Santopia was forced followed by Balance Of Power in 170 AD. Gamecatcher was only militarily positioned to put up resistance to Apolyton’s attack, as a result Apolyton endured much heavier casualties than they expected. Even with such a lop-sided advantage Gamecatcher was able to force Apolyton to struggle for every mile of land.

In 190 AD an official peace treaty was brokered between Netatolia and Fanatikou creating a de facto division in world politics with Apolyton, Fanatikou, and Netatolia on one side and Webringen and what was left of Gamecatcher on the other.

Possibly seeing that their enemy’s friend’s enemy might be their friend, Webringen provided Gamecatcher with an escape from certain destruction by granting control of two cities deep inside Webringen territory to Gamecatcher into 210 AD. Staking their claim over the vanquished lands of Gamecatcher, Apolyton erected a new city over the ruins of Balance Of Power, the coveted city the Fanatikou struggled so long to control.

In 260 AD Gamecatcher made their evacuation of a hostile continent complete by abandoning Port Blacksand and moving their citizenry across the ocean. Only the nations of Fanatikou and Apolyton remained on the continent that had not even been completely populated yet. With such a larger army Apolyton’s peace with Fanatikou was all but certain even though both nations feared that a long protracted battle between the remaining powers would cripple their economies forever.

Rather than struggle for control, the governments of Fanatikou and Apolyton, for years in conflict with a common enemy, signed an unprecedented permanent alliance treat in 270 AD. This treaty set forth the promise of the two powers to work together towards the security and development of the continent and to limit the potential for military rivalry and arms races.

In 280 AD Gamecatcher made their remaining military presence still on the continent know by landing troops just south of Yun Qiuling. President Gingerbread Man responded by sending a galley to attack, but the galley is lost in naval combat. With the Fanatikou navy still in its infancy two new cities were soon settled on the island to the west, Jiangmianboa Chengshi and then Daoyu Leisheng.

In 290 AD, demanding release from years of despotic repression, the people of Fanatikou overthrew their government and descended into anarchy. In the chaos both Chieftess and Goonie went missing, Octavian X was appointed Ambassador to Webringen and Donovan Zoi was appointed Ambassador to Apolyton as their replacements.

In 300 AD Apolyton moved troops into northern territory belonging to Fanatikou according to and in violation the permanent alliance causing concern to many citizens. It is soon discovered that members in the Fanatikou government gave them permission for the purpose of eliminating a barbarian force. In 310 AD Domestic Affairs Minister Yndy resigned and CivGeneral was appointed as his replacement. By 320 AD the last of the Gamecatcher forces landed on the shore near Yun Qiuling were wiped out.

In 350 AD the Gamecatcher galley returned to the eastern shore of Fanatikou. This time Defense Minister Donovan Zoi was waiting for them and catapulted the galley back into deeper waters. After the show of force by Fanatikou’s military, order was restored and a republican government emerged in 360 AD.

And finally, in 410 AD, the memories of the catastrophe at Yun Feng and all those who fell battling The Gamecatcher Alliance were honored with the settlement of a new city. New Yun Feng was founded near the remains of the original city and Sodapopolis. The resurrection of the fallen city brings us up to current times with an uncertain future for our nation of Fanatikou.

-----Completed in 420 AD.

:goodjob: Great! Awesome! I think this should be stickied and updated from time to time. :)

VERY Excellent! :D

I have been pondering about doing something like this, but my thought was to put up a webpage...

But this is great! :)

And as Wizard says, this should be stickied and updated from time to time. But then I guess we shouldn't post any comments in this thread.

I suggest that a history department be established, and that this thread will only contain post with information about our history.

And as a bonus: Netatolia has also compiled together a few webpages about their history. It would probably make relations even better if we can offer them knowledge of our history as well. :)

Umm, you made a few errors

Here is the corrected version.

Military Leader CivGeneral surprised Fanatikou announcing that he was considering defection to the CDG, a far away nation to the northeast that most citizens had only heard of. Upon meeting with several other members of the government CivGeneral decided to stay with his people of Fanatikou.

Also to point out, it was Ekletikos that defected and left for the Gamecatcher Alliance.

Oops, thank you for pointing that out. That is far better than thinking you wanted to go to Gamecatcher. :p I will correct this at once.

I'm not even going to mention Eklektikos above as he left the Fanatkou government before it was even formed.

I think I'd prefer to wait a few terms before tackling additions to this. If I do that I would make a separate thread for 410 AD - 1600AD or something like that.

So post away, I'm more interested in people going on record here with corrections, comments, and justifications. That way we can all have more perspective on our history.

I almost left for Gamecatcher, then I did leave the MSDG, then I came back, and people stuck me in a stuffy, dusty office and called me one of the most powerful men in Fanatikou. I had and still have to work for free.
