So I'm up to future tech, large world, 2 continents, conquest/domination, regiside, 8 civs (all the new ones) . I'm leading the way with my closest comp at rocketry.
Like 38% of the worlds pop is mine. I've been in one war (which I started) to gain close to half a continent with 3 niegbors. My defence is superb and I have 6 full battle attack squads stationed and ready for a complete inavasion of any civ in one turn.

Here's what's weird.

1) I hardly see any of the border patrols the AI loves doing. Did they decrease this to save time/memory?

2) NO ONE and I mean none, of the civs are aggressive at all.
Lotsa MPP's goin on but no wars. (FYI, aggressiveness is set at normal)

3)They've got stacks of infantry (mech & normal) calvary, guerillas ect in their cities. avarege about 20 defenders PER CITY. Wow. usda be about 3-4 per average.

4)They hardly EVER come in my territory with boats. (what a difference from their usualy disrespective tendancies!).

5) So apparently if there's ever going to be anymore expansion in this game it'll be me starting a war.
Is the AI... dare I say it.? "intimidated"?
Where's the 2000 year old 1 hp warriors who walk up to tanks and declare WAR? The ballsy ships who park and fortify in your territory? wherizitall? A buncha wimps izwutdayare.

I at least expect the Hittittes to try something. Their neigbor is weaker than them.
Is this a fluke game or a new system?

Its probably a fluke. I made a thread a while ago in General Discussion comparing two continents in a PTW game I played - mine was in nearly constant war, with the Zulu and Koreans destroying the Russians, Romans, and half of the Iroquois (with my help). But the other continent was almost totally peaceful, with only one long war where Egypt destroyed most of Carthage. My point is, war can be a random thing, some continents/games can be peaceful while others are warlike.

Or you could have accidentally set their agression rating on low.
 
MaximusParthas, change your difficulty level to Sid, set the AI aggression to its highest and try again. Then come tell us your results.

In the manual it says, if you really want to be humbled try the diety game. they suggest that it's "feasable" to win.
Now there's a higher level with an aggression multiplier as well.

Me being a certified warmonger I guess I do wanna go get my ass and my civ handed to me with no chance at all of a military victory. hmmm let me think...

"Large world with only 8 civs" is a telling point. In PTW you would get a default of 12 civs with a large world.

Regicide probably makes the AI civs defensive, putting extra defenders in cities.
 
Ok I started the damned war. took the other 30% of world mass in 5 turns and won. wasn't all that spectacular a battle either.
Lemme try a harder level and agression . Maybe it's be different.
 
I think Jaybe hit the nail on the head. Wars start when Civs' borders collide - with 8 Civs, that will take a long time to happen, and there isn't much incentive to fight. And the 20 defenders in a city is because its on Regicide.

Play with max Civs and no regicide and you will get a much more warlike game. :)
